If you want to go obscure, look up Podalirius and Machaon from the Trojan Wars. They were both war heroes, miracle healers, and commanders, apparently. Lam Sai Wing and Wong Fei Hung are legendary healers and martial artists from China.

Amenhotep and Imhotep of Egypt were somewhat well known as healers too. I'll try and dig up more from the recesses of my abysmal memory.
btw, I ammended my post. I also found a really nice list of legendary healers. just type in 'legendary healers' into wikipedia. You'd get all the ones I mentioned above and more.

As for Maid Marrion's noble phantasm, it should be a weapon or something that's commonly attributed to the character in question.

Nice entrance as well.

That's what you get with twins, though. Always knocking down the teacher.

Thanks for the welcome.

I did say I'd join earlier. I just never got around to it :p

There's a third twin who could make that a triple whammy :snigger:

I left the ending to that little scene open so Mereo could get back with another ominous statement or something

And I won't be around much, so feel free to use my character as you see fit. If you need a party crasher, I'm your girl :snigger:

Wait a sec... twins?!? Triplets?!? What's going on here??

Well, if you want a simple explanation...

Not everybody exists in every world, or in the same fashion. In a sense, Eterna and Zeni are the same person, with souls that have the same origins, but they have different bodies, minds, and lives.

The reason they now exist in the same world is a result of the fusion that occurred.

That, or, you know, they're twins in real life.

You could take Mereo's answer which is the closest thing to the truth, with us being the same soul with physically different bodies, or you could take the convential cover up story that me, Eternity-Incarnate, and BeyondTheBounds are triplets. Me and EI are identical twins while BTB is...err...different.

Ah... like Bison and Rose. I'll try and keep that in mind.

To be honest, I was under the impression that the fused universe would be considered normal for Haruhi and that her World Alteration power would be weakened as a result of so many exciting lifestyles that she could take on. High magic, advanced technology and alchemy are things she can easily believe in if many people parade things like that so easily (as evidenced by Zeni's first story post when students rushed to school in high tech gadgets and creature summons).

Since she's in 'sleeping Goddess' form, her powers only affect the immediate reality around her, thus shaping the reality in a small sphere around her as she pleases. In her 'reality', mages, espers, aliens, etc are still non-existent things that she futilely goes after. Otherwise, what's the point of the SOS-dan?

That's only my opinion though. *shrugs*

So you're saying from her POV, everything she sees is just normal? So she wouldn't have witnessed the crazy stampede to get to school on time or that giant treadmill?

Well, basically, wherever she goes, a bubble of pure 'normalness' follows her around. If she were to venture out onto that street, the treadmill would just stop and the supernaturals around her would suddenly find themselves unable to outwardly use their powers in front of her.

Since the DITE apparently wish to use her powers to re-establish stability, this would off course prove useful, provided they can expand the said 'bubble'

But if you want the story to go the other way, as in Haruhi knows that she's surrounded by abnormalities, then go ahead. That way the DITE would have to work to convince her that this is all 'abnormal' in order to restore the world back to its previous state. Or something like that.

Oooh... I see. Tough choice because both options have interesting potential for future story elements. The former seems to be straightforward to establish the SOS Brigade but the latter would be more interesting as Haruhi would be happy with the world she's living in and would not want it to change unless the negative side effects of all the amazing things she is witnessing causes a huge enough catastrophe to wipe out 99% of all sentient life as she knows it.

One of the possible options I had been leaning towards is for my DITE faction to escalate Holy Grail War events to such a state where Sleeping Gods like Haruhi would be desperate enough to wish for a normal world where people are alive and well instead of humans facing extinction. I will also be going under the assumption where true immortality is still beyond the grasp of humans, regardless of their advancements in science and magic.

On another question, who else would have similar World Alteration powers like Haruhi? As in people, not places like Hinata-Sou and the World Tree.

Human Instrumentality Project product number 1 - Shinji Ikari, is one candidate. Perhaps after the happenings in NGE, the project was deemed a success but at the same time far too dangerous to be utilized conventionally. Therefore, all his memories regarding the world of NGE was wiped out before they shipped him off to the TFF academy to live a normal, harmless life.

Damn... why didn't I think of that? Any other interesting candidates on your mind?

Chao would, utulizing the power of the World Tree. Not a direct power, but good enough to at least be a catalyst.

Anyone who can create a reality marble too can change the world around them on a small scale, but only temporarily. Combine it with Chao's technology though...

Kaito, from Hack/Sign, with the twilight bracelet, would be able to alter reality to a certain extent, considering the fact that, as the DITE see it, the world is comprised of data matrices. Have him be a member of the game club or IT club or something? I can really see him trying to stop Haruhi from extorting the club prez :snigger:

If you want to use pokemon, then the power of the Unknowns is a good pick.

Yurie Hitosubashi from Kamichu! can alter reality to a certain extent using her Goddess powers. You can have her be a student at the TFF academy.

Al Azif from Deus Machina Demonbane is another candidate. She's the 'avatar' or 'soul' of the original Necronomicon (yes, she's a book) and has the power to alter reality but requires a 'contract' to activate her powers (yes, Negima style). Also, she starts off missing many pages, thus her strength is greatly decreased. Those who wish to utilize her powers would have to gather all her pages first (again eyeing the DITE :snigger: ). Perhaps someone 'stumbles' upon her during the library island expedition?

Come to think of it, the member hunt event won't happen this early as it is technically the first day of school and Haruhi would want to check out the other clubs first to see if they are any interesting. If Chao is aware of Haruhi's ability and entices her with certain technology (say the ability to time travel and to travel through dimensions)...

Speaking of time travelers, wouldn't they be on a mission to help stop the apocalypse that results from the cascade failure if things were to continue the way they are uninterrupted? That could prove to be an interesting angle for time travelers like Chao and Asahina-san.

First day yes. But Haruhi might have already been a student at the TFFA for some time, maybe even a year. At this point in time she could already have established the SOS-dan and she's merely looking around for new recruits - normal people need not apply :snigger:

As for the time travellers, we could have them have a faction of their own. Perhaps they came from 'beyond the apocalypse' (is that possible :unsure!: ) with a mission - to stop it from happening.

Ok, so solutions to the problem currently include:
- Using the Holy Grail and making a wish to undo Mereo's wish.
- Awaken the sleeping Gods/Goddesses. A good few of them would be required to alter the entire universe, obviously.
- Use the powers of the magical locations, such as the Hinata Sou, the World Tree, MolMol, Pararakelse island, etc.
- Re-create the Human Instrumentality Project, perhaps?

Come to think of it, what's the rough history of the TFFA? How old is it? Is it like a high school or a larger type of school which fuses all types of schools together (elementary, junior high and high)?

My thoughts for the solutions...

- Using the Holy Grail and making a wish to undo Mereo's wish: Seems a bit too simplistic for my taste. For the Holy Grail, I was under the assumption that a wish that has been made cannot be undone even if a counter wish was made using the same sources. For example, one guy from DBZ was able to wish himself immortality (Garlic Junior I believe). If it was possible for the Z Warriors to undo the wish by collecting the Dragon Balls and making a counter wish, why did they not do so?
- Awaken the sleeping Gods/Goddesses. A good few of them would be required to alter the entire universe, obviously: A more interesting path as a lot of effort would be needed to force the mentality of said Gods/Goddesses to truly desire to stabilize things since direct confrontations will probably be met with high amounts of disbelief and denial.
- Use the powers of the magical locations, such as the Hinata Sou, the World Tree, MolMol, Pararakelse island, etc.: How many locations are we talking about and is there sufficient enough power to stabilize the problem?
- Re-create the Human Instrumentality Project, perhaps? Um... what good will that do? Reality and the universe as we know it will still implode thanks to the fusion of all the universes together.

As I said, the TFF academy is based off Mahora Academy from Mahou Sensei Negima, a massive city-sized school complex comprised of many different schools, ranging from pre-K to university. The campus is pretty much a classical European-style affair, fitted with everything the students and faculty would need, ranging from malls, stores, to family restaurants.

It's quite old, with a history dating back to pre-medieval times, back when magic and the supernatural was still a part of the known universe.

Perhaps at some point the world got split in two - the magical world and the 'normal' world, due to instabilities in the space/time continuum building up due to all the magic.
