TFF Waifu Fic Contest

I consider neo TFF's birthday to be March 24th, and so it is.

In celebration of nTFF's 2nd anniversary, I'd like to announce a new fic contest: the Waifu Fic Contest.

As the name implies, fanfics should be all about couples or threesomes or harems, but from there the plot is all your own discretion. It could be about growing relationship pains between a couple with a bittersweet open-ended conclusion, a brief oneshot interaction between a male and female, the competition of two or more guys for a female's attention, or a couple tie the knot and then go on a honeymoon stopping a zombie apocalypse.

I'll give something out to the winner of their choosing as long as it's related to the Waifu theme, such as a game ie. Rune Factory game, Fire Emblem Awakening, or anime set, etc. as long as it stays ~$50ish.

Rules

Submission Deadline is April 7th, Midnight PST. Late entries will be docked 5 points per day up to three days.

Moderate lime content will be allowed, outright sexual content is not (though I may be persuaded to do a second contest for those kinds of fics).

Judging

The Judges so far are:

  1. seitora
  2. Vog
  3. violinmana (maybe)
  4. zerohour

I could use up to another one (two if violinmana doesn't judge).

Scoring

I'll use a scoring structure close to but a little bit different from the one the Iron Fics have used.

Theme (15): How Well your fanfic fits into the 'waifu' theme

Language (15): Overall spelling and grammar strength of your story

Writing Style (20): This relates to the overall strength of writing style. Well-written fics with good use of literary devices that don't induce groaning at corniness will get top marks.

Plot/Content (30): The overall 'idea' behind your stories, and the meat-and-potatoes of the actual events occurring in your fanfic.

Discretion (15): The judge's own personal opinion on the fic as a combination of everything fitting together or not.

Obscurity (5): This is awarded depending on how many fics already exist in whatever fandom you're writing, using the number of fics on Fanfiction.net as the benchmark. If you write for a tiny fandom with only a handful of fics (or if it doesn't even exist as a distinct category), you can get top marks.

300 Fics or less: 5 points
300-1000: 4 points
1000-5000: 3 points
5000-10000: 2 points
10000-30000: 1 point

Are crossovers okay? Because I may have an idea for this.

Thanks Wata (I assume it's Wata) for putting this in the TFF header!

Sooo how much lemon material is/isn't allowed?
As in, is making out the deepest it should go, or if the story goes that way, is an actual sex scene allowed?

I ask because I'm tempted to join in, but I never know where my brain will flow when I actually write. I can curb things, but...

I'll say everything up to but not including actual sex, so I guess things like fingering and so on would be acceptable. Of course like I said, if there's enough interest I wouldn't have an issue with opening up a second contest for fics with lemons.

Hmm... What do you mean with waifu... Writing stories with the main or a crossover character, or an OC?

I suppose I can do some attempt at one for site solidarity. What's being counted for obscurity? The fic count on FF.net? Multiple sites? For example, the combined fic count for Berserk on FF.net and AAO is around 350.

Lastly, canon couples only or anything goes?

FFN number of fics is used

It does not have to be a Canon pairing and in games especially there IS no canon pairing. Preferably all characters should exist in some official media (so throwaway anime filler girls can do). Some series such as Touhou are really lacking for characters of one gender so an OC would be acceptable. Same with genderbending

What are submission rules? Do we send them directly to you? Use Google Drive? Post on the site on the day?

@[byakuryuu] post on the site here any time before or up to April 7th (or April 10th but then there'll be a late submission penalty) and link to the fic in here. Multiple entries are allowed

Might write something for this. I need to get back into writing.

Either way, I'm up for judging if there's still a space. If I end up judging anything I write will be purely for fun.

Well, mine's up. Going by Pacific Standard there's about six hours left.

Edit. Hold on. Did we mean midnight at the end of April 7, or midnight starting April 7? If the latter, my bad.

I'll be putting mine up a bit late because of... reasons.

Reasons that involve me and some unpaid bills. But I'm still taking part.

Midnight at the end of April 7th. So you're not late.

(that and as byakuryuu noted, I mentioned the precise amount of time left on at least two occasions :p)
