So, should I replace my character bio with the one from Chaos RR?

Edit: I found a forum that gave HP and MP based off posts.

You got HP from the number of posts, and MP from the length of the posts. Now if I could just find it...

Hmm, what about Fuuinjutsu? I know it's not a typical genin skill in Kishimoto's view, but unless TTFA's Academy also suffers from myopic hindsight, wouldn't they at least give introductory classes on it and perhaps encourage anyone who takes an interest to it into learning more as part of their Genin training? (in other words, I'd want to use it and I dunno what that'd be worth)

I got a cracktastic idea for a bloodline, too, and a jutsu based on it for a possible char... I do have to think up first whether I want to even try.
I get what your saying, though I don't know if a Genin would be allowed to start with those type of skills.

Somethin will be figured out probably. Hm..gotta think of more rules/competency ranking for the levels 4-9..
When it comes down to fuinjutsu, can I take a few stat points to get a bit of basic theory and such? Some theoretical knowledge of sealing could probably be found through research, although I doubt anything other than the most basic things would be available to academy students.

Ninjutsu 0: Try to form a jutsu but you end up blasting yourself with the very same chakra you tried to wield.

Ninjutsu 1: Hey! You can finally form chakra into a technique! But it only travels a foot or 2 before turning back around and hitting you!

Ninjutsu 2: You can use the bare level Jutsu.

Ninjutsu 4: You've finally become good enough you might actually pose some challenge to your fellow Genin.

Taijutsu 4: The equivalent of a student that has had his first lessons at the dojo.

huh, what do ya know. A cracktastic rendition of the Naruto SD. Who knows, might get me some ideas for posting in that, yes....

So, yeah, I'd be interested in this as far as it being my first TFF SD goes.

Right to the point that, you know what? I think I'll just gank Yan Shosuro and rename him for this. Now where did I put that character sheet.

Also, would secret clan jutsus fall under 'bloodline' as you don't seem to have made any reference to them, and I'd really rather not have to bust out the uchuukuukangan as a bloodline. Because secret clan techniques are fun.

Then again, it would depend on how many nitwits we have running around with the Eyes of the Mary Sue.

On that note, I would suggest a system for XP based both on post numbering, but also post quality. Short little status posts consisting of a paragraph at most shouldn't really earn anything, else we'll get people taking a giant post and splitting it into a hundred pieces just for the XP. I'm of the sort that does large high quality posts intermittently, rather then a bunch of small short posts every single day. So yeah.

Anyways, on to the Kerrikter.

Name: Kerrus Shosuro
Concept: Modification of this: http://forum.spacebattles.com/showpost.php...902&postcount=5

Character Stats:

Genjustsu: 5
Ninjutsu: 9
Taijutsu: 6

Bloodline: None... yet.

Bio: Kerrus was born during the year of the Kyuubi attack on Konoha, and represents the current heir of the clan Shosuro. As a clan they specialize in shadow techniques, though mainly around the projection and manipulation of shadows. Less Kage Buunshin and more Kagemane. Except these guys do solid shadows and the like.

Actually, Kerrus is currently undergoing studies on the side in order to develope the Uchuukuugan, or Eye of the Void. Conversely, though many would think so, this isn't actually a dojutsu. Rather it represents a meditational technique designed to help center oneself and develope better chakra control. The increased situational awareness (however slight) isn't really of value because you can't be walking around while practicing it (Not until Chuunin, anyways. Consider it fluff)

Strengths: Fast

Weaknesses: Kittens

TBC.

Is there a way to increase your stats? Perhaps you could use XP, 10-20 XP to increase a stat one level.

Just throwing ideas around :p

But then eventually you get people with 9 tai, 9 gen, and 9 nin....super DBZ ninjas

The idea is, your stats only determine your natural ninja traits. When you're a sannin-level character, despite having a genjutsu stat of 1, using something like Kurenai's tree-bind-death genjutsu technique should be waaaaaaay below you.

Say, my character has a tai level of 9, a gen level of 4, and a nin level of 4. So she'll be able to use relatively powerful taijutsu techniques from the start while only being able to manage low level gen and nin techniques at the start. As she develops, her taijutsu is always a loooooong way ahead of her gen and nin development, but her gen and nin skills also develop. So needless to say, at some point she'll be able to manage high level gen and nin techniques. However, it'll take her a loooooooot more time than someone with a level 9 gen or nin proficiency.

To Kerrus: Welcome aboard.

About the post quality thing....it's a bit difficult as that would require someone to judge said post and something like post quality isn't something readily quantified. Sure, it'd encourage people to write better posts, but then I'd need more GMs to look at each and every post individually. And then scrupples and disagreements could arise over how a particular GM judges a post.

Plus, I can't trust myself to be able to look at a post and make unbiased judgments. I know a lot of the players personally and I'll be honest, I might just let that bias my judgment. I'm that unqualified as a judge. The same may apply to other judges.

If someone can come up with a realistic system to do it, then by all means. But as it is, no, I don't think it can work. Sorry :p

EDIT: Posting using EI's account here. Darn it...it's annoying to change between accounts.... ^^;;

Ok everyone! Let the games begin!

There are only a few minor issues with the game system, but we'll iron out the bugs as we go along.

Note: Please do tell your friends, especially previous Chaos RR players and Naruto Section people about the game. The more the merrier, after all

Is first person point of view frowned upon in RPGs? I can write third person, but I'd feel more comfortable with first.

It's fine as far as I know. Other people (Parker, I think) have written in 1st person before.

Write how ever you are most comfortable, as long as its not script written.

Thanks. I'm still having a bit of trouble deciding. On the one hand, first person is perfect for one character, but since this is a group project, not to mention the fact that I might decide to get myself one or two NPCs, third person might be best.

-sigh-

How irritating that I can't decide.

And of couse I wouldn't write in script mode! Why would I?

Bad memories from FF.net. :unsure!:
-shudder-

Oh yes. I do recall quite a few HP fics that attempted this mode of writing seriously. There were even a few "Once More With Feeling!" knockoffs that tried to make it work.

Not fun. Not fun at all.

Oh, and as soon as I post in the TFFA thread, I'll post in the TFFN thread.

A spontaneous and complete loss of common sense, perhaps due to a swift kick in the head?

Only if said kick was performed by a hot girl wearing a very short miniskirt, giving me a glimpse of the Promised Land.

To be fair, there have been a couple decent stories written in script format. Not to say that they wouldn't have been better in prose, but the author was good enough that the format didn't really take away from the overall story.

Oh? What fics were these? The first few I ran across turned me off from them.

Only one with a title that I remember is a really old (I believe it was started in 1995) pair of Ranma fics called Putting Your Heart in the Right Place & Furinkan Summer by John Biles. The script format took some getting used to, but the story itself was good. Serious at times, but usually humor-filled with plenty of crack mixed in (almost to a ridiculous level toward the end).

NOTE: I haven't actually read this story in a few years, so my perception of it might change if I were to take the time to read it again. (It's Uber-long, so it probably won't be for a while)

I'll go after you then, GE. Also, anyone know who Kerrus is? He just dropped a post in the story thread, but he hasn't introduced himself or his character yet...how rude!
