I suspect that, in humanity's final moments, the end will come thanks to cannibalism, spawned by radiation poisoning madness and lack of food and other essential resources.

Then the last human will die of cancer, starvation, disease, or dehydration some time after eating the second-to-last human.

No... i have something else in mind... probably a intergalactic war. The other races will be so pleased with us that they'll just burn out from the face of the universe.

By the way, we need some rules for challenges, this way their nothing more than over glorified fic requests.

You make it sound like there is some difference between the 2.

This thread has potential as some sort of secret weapon for focusing the energies of the various writers here into a destructive force...yes...

AHEM. ENOUGH.

This thread is NOT for harassing authors. It is for making serious challenges.

For instance, if one of you actually gave me a serious challenge, like say, to write something using specific rules and regulations instead of the usual crap, then I'll probably consider it.

On the other hand, if you write stuff like 'I challenge you to update your fic' or 'Write a fic for me, the way I say you should', then my reaction will probably be along the lines of 'STFU and GTFO my internet, n00b'.

I posted this thread because I discussed the challenge with Mosh beforehand, and he agreed to make it official. DON'T use this thread just to post your requests masked as challenges. This thread is for challenging the authors to do something they normally don't, not to see your wet fiction dreams come true. Understood?

Misuse it, and... well... *I* won't do anything to you, myself, but seeing how Hawk actually took the time to pin this topic (meaning he thinks it is a worthy idea), chances are that if you start abusing it you'll get banhammered, so behave.

To add to this, if you do make a challenge you also have to be ready to be challenged. It seems fair to me, equall exchange.

Exactly, notice how my challenge (the second one in the thread) has set limitations and restrictions for it, try and structure your challenges as such. And no requesting authors to update fics, that not a challenge, that's update begging. Hope you don't mind me helping you lay down the law here GH.

If someone out there wants to bug me for an update...

Well...

My email address is on my profile page. Use that, don't paper the forum with it...

Uhm... no? That's like saying that if you make a challenge you HAVE to answer one yourself. That's not the point of a challenge, in my opinion.

Ultimately, it's up the individual whether to pick it up or not. You're saying that if someone makes a challenge, and someone accepts it, they are obligated to pick up one themselves. I really don't agree with that.

What Mosh meant is, if you make one challenge, expect to be challenged yourself sometime in the future.

Whether you accept or not is up to you, but do expect someone to challenge you... it'll eventually happen.

Errr no, i meant that if you do make a challenge expect to receive one yourself, if you pick it up or not, it's your own choice...

However, I must admit that the way you phrased it earlier seemed to carry with it the implication that the person being challenged was under some sort of obligation to accept a challenge at some point in time. Like to prove that you were serious or something, you would need to accept at least say, 1 out of every 10 challenges or something, else, you would be denounced as a fake or something along that line.

Otherwise, there would absolutely have been no reason for him posting what he did since I believe everyone would know that it is their every right to turn down challenges aimed at them if they do not have any intention to contributing to this thread at all. :ph43r:

Have I simply been reading too much into it?

Mosh isn't too good at getting what he means across, sometimes. You shouldn't read too much in it. All he meant is, expect someone to challenge you sometime in the future if you post here. Whether or not you want to accept is your pick.

Mind you, if you flat out refuse 50 or so challenges without a good reason, people are going to start questioning your actual skill level... but again, the choice whether or not to accept the challenge is yours.

Yah, though you don't always have to send a challenge to a specific person, it can just be a blast challenge to anyone who wants to pick it up as well.

Hmm, time for a challenge from your favourite fiend.

The challenge is this:

A Gundam Wing fic with mucho hetero lemony goodness: Heero/lady(or ladies) of your choice.

AU (but not highschool style fic), crossover and/or divergence are all acceptable.

For example, you (the author that accepts this challenge) could have Une decide that the best way to extract information from a young man is with the use of feminine wiles...

"What's the incentive for this?" I hear you ask.

Well, if no-one can sate my sudden hunger for such a fic, I might just have to write something similarly plotted into my Gundam Wing/Hellsing fic, Hellfire.

And that could disrupt the flow of Alcohol, if you know what I mean... ;)

Anyone even remotely tempted?

Oh I don't know, I've been looking forward to an update of Hellfire for a long time so it's pretty tempting...

Okay... Then, not to sound rude but... why did you state the obvious? I thought the whole point of a challenge thread is to well... challenge people. Saying that you might get challenged in this thread is akin to saying that you might talk about fanfiction in a fanfiction forum.

Oh well, regardless, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Honestly, Raa. That's more of an incentive not to take up the challenge. :p While I like Alcohol, I like a lot of your other fics as well, and good GW fiction is so hard to find.

As for taking up the challenge, sorry, I'll have to pass on this one. Even if I'd like to try my hand at writing some GW fanfiction, I need to at least try to focus on my other projects.

And of course, there's some of us who haven't ever seen GW.

*listens for agreement*

...Yes, some of us. Us. Yes.

*listens for agreement*

Hey, will someone shut off that cricket?

Meh, I haven't, not really anyway, I saw a few episodes of it back in the day, hated it, and never watched it again.

Here's a challenge for someone out there in happy fun-fun land. I'd like to see a Ranma crossed with a horror character aside from the usual vampires. How about crossing Ranma with the creature from John Carpenter's The Thing. Could you imagine the paranoria and fear that could be caught up in that as you tried to figure out who's who, and who's something else? Might be fun if done right, imo.

So if you didn't have a reason to update this, you would have more resources to devote to your other fics...

You know, I'd swear for the life of me that I've actually SEEN one of these, but I can remember much about it.

I think it may just have been a preview, or maybe someone else posted a similar idea elsewhere.

Still, I think it could be interesting if done well, but the very nature of that creature means you couldn't set it in Nerima.

That doesn't mean I'm accepting the challenge BTW...

Sorry.

Yes, it would.

I can't guarantee what the updated fic(s) would be, as the muse is a fickle creature.

But if any of you can handle such a possibility, then write away.....

Question: Do the fics you write have to be long, regular fics, or is it okay if they're one-shots?

If you're referring to my challenge, then a 5 thousand or more word smut-filled one-shot is just as acceptable as a ten chapter filth-fest.

A series of one-shots, each with a different pairing at a different point in the series is fine by me.

Rules are:

1) Heero and a lady or ladies of your choice. Non Gundam Wing characters are not allowed UNLESS they are dragged into an orgy by a character from the series.

Crossovers are a different matter if the two series mesh ok.

And for the record, Sailor Moon does not "mesh ok" with Gundam Wing.

2) Heero only does a lady. If you want to have the other pilots engage in some sort of homosexual orgy "off camera" that's referenced at the end, then that's ok. But there should be no scenes of yaoi in this fic.

I think that should clear things up.

Hmm, I'd probably set it in one of the Northern Islands of Japan, (one of those that both Japan and Russia claim for themselves), maybe where Ranma has taken a training trip, because he thinks no one would follow him up there in the middle of the winter. Wrong of course, because Akane, and her sisters, with Genma, Soun, and the rest of the regular cast follow along to protect/punish Ranma as it were. In fact, I've got an idea for a scene that would rock, but I wonder if I should post it on here, as it could destroy the very nature of the surprise.

Just an idea.

B.
