from TheGrum's website does anyone know what is going on with it?

This was noticed by others a couple days ago... pretty much all that can be done is wait it out.

Interesting timing though, right at the half year mark.

Hopefully people knew to save.

If it goes down for good, he updates so infrequently that the Internet Archive is easily able to capture everything.

I already had his Neko Senshi story saved.

Went back and made sure to save the original version of it myself.

Does ANYONE know of his "real" website?

The one he posts stuff too far more often that is.

Isn't The Grum a member here?

There's an account named "The Grum" that has two posts, but I don't know if it's actually him. Could be a fake.

He's posted something on the xanderzone yahoo group that relates to his site/stories:

(if you can find them, my webhost tried to hold me up for
more money after I paid the hosting and dns renewal fees, so I've cut ties with
them, so my personal site at TheGrum.com is down - but you may be able to get
them from Google's cache, possibly; I was able to, after a bit of finagling)

So... is he dropping any possibility of his stuff being on a site... disaapointing.

I do not begrudge him a private site for his previews and not making that public, but... I would have hoped he would post at least he public stuff to FanFiction.NET or MediaMiner.ORG in such an event... Oh well.

After a certain point I lost interest in his stories because of the long updates and once finding out that he has a special site just for friends I gave up altogether. I don't begrudge him wanting to write for his friends and family first it just made me realize that the general public isn't going to see a complete story from him and if there's anything I hate most is reading a story with little hope of seeing a conclusion to.

A couple hours ago I reread some sections of "Finding an Anchor" for the first time in probably two or three years.

I had remembered it being a lot better than what I saw. How sad.

It's a decent lemon.

The more you read the better your tastes become and what looked so good before is always a step below what you consider the best now because your concepts of quality are ever expanding.

Even for Dumbledork.

Well that was 9 days of me not caring. (Similar reason to mgsaintz)

And @NDF: You will most likely find that to be true for most of his stories.

He is a decent writer, but he has so much hype about him he comes off as the Masai of Ranma fanfiction. But upon second read after a few years, IMO he is just a decent writer not worth the Hype.

Grum's problem is that it is hard to care about someone that hardly ever posts anything for public consumption.

Especially if you know he does so by choice, not because he doesn't have anything to post...

Actually... I remember way back he used to post to the public site on a regular basis. I think it was some time after 2002 that he started the whole yearly update trend.

it's just down for maintenance, at least that's what the translation says.

Might be a good sign. I hope he'll add some new stuff.
I won't bother hoping.

Hope is the first step on the road to disapointment.
And Grum has been nothing but disappointing this past year. The last interesting update he had was the one he didn't mean to post.

Was that the accidental mass posting that for no explicable reason he took a full year to remove? That was when I stopped caring, pretty much.
