The Old Republic

The game certainly allows you to play Light Sided Sith, and to that you're entitled, but if you're going to show mercy and be anything but ball-shatteringly, dog-kicking, baby-punching evil, you should probably just go Jedi.

Granted, I hear the Republic is just as made of dicks as the Empire, so...

I currently have a Imperial Agent/Operative as main char, and a Jedi Consular/Sage and Sith Inquisitor/Assassin as extras. Agent is male, and sometimes decides the Empire could benefit from mercy, however, recently he had a rude awakening, found out that merciful ideas can cause more problems than what they solve.

Sith is darkside 100% currently, loved to needle the first quest giver on Korriban.

Jedi is the opposite.

I kind of felt that the space battles were a bit too much. I mean, I was running around crippling frigates and destroyers, knocking down dozens of fighters and crippling an entire space station on my own.

Sort of overpowered.

Really? Wow. Hope they keep it that way and add in a few boss battles, maybe. I want to feel awesome both on solid ground and in the vacuum of space. Although perhaps some more danger to you should be had.

Yeah, I did three space missions with lvl 1 ship upgrades and killed like six hundred starfighters, crippled six or seven frigates and one destroyer between them.

I only came close to death once, and that's because I accidentally dodged into a frigate.

I've got two characters so far:

-One the other side, I've got a Smuggler who is... pretty much Malcolm Reynolds if he was a little nicer and was a sexy green Twilek girl.
You know....have the girl played by Summer Glau (Firefly, Sarah Conner Chronicles) or Eliza Patricia Dushku (Dollhouse), with the series written by Joss Whedon and you'd have a hit on your hands.

Hmmm perhaps set the whole thing after the fall of the Gaactic Empire. The Republic is still finding it's feet, Luke's trying to restart the Jedi and there is plenty of credits to be made.

I actually made the choice to be a terrible Inquisitor; my character may be grateful to not be a slave anymore, and she enjoys the perks of the job, but she's still not happy about being forced into her position. MERCY FOR ALL! AND CAKE!
Yeah my Inquisitor takes every single opportunity she can to say 'Screw YOU!' to the Empire.

Only grumble is the first minion...sure, the big guy is a nice beefy tank...but Warriors get a twi'lek in tight pants for their first buddy, and Inquisitors get saddled with Nemesis from Resident Evil Apocalypse in NO pants as theirs.
I liked the first image, the second...not so much.

The game certainly allows you to play Light Sided Sith, and to that you're entitled, but if you're going to show mercy and be anything but ball-shatteringly, dog-kicking, baby-punching evil, you should probably just go Jedi.
For me, being a Nobel Demon is far more fun than being a straight paragon. Also it's fun to watch a Jedi deal with a reasonable/honrable Sith Warrior. You can almost hear their preconception shattering. Besides, its a lot of fun to clean house in the Empire.

Granted, I hear the Republic is just as made of dicks as the Empire, so...
The Republic has the usual problems you'd expect in all honesty. They're just magnified by the size of the Republic and it's capabilities.

The Sith Empire is filled with idiots (another reason to play Lightsided Sith, it's obvious the Imperial government is in desperate need of staff cuts), especially amongst the Sith Lords. Sith training produces a lot of Selfish, self agrandizing monsters, with an overdevelpoed ego and deadly combat skills. It dosen't produce a lot of people who can actually LEAD a nation or think Long-term. Far too many Sith care only for themselves or their own twisted plans.

Too put it simply, the Empire needs more 'Doctor Dooms' and 'Ra's Al'ghuls' as they currently have far too many 'Sabertooths' and would-be 'Darkseids'.

Currently have my Warrior to 13 and my Sorcerer to 12, have to say I'm loving this, mostly like the others I'm playing light sided Sith, simply because it seems, as you said, more a Doctor Doom thing then being a mouth frothing monster, also amusing that most of the light sided sith choices end up fucking someone over worse then right out killing them ^^; just did the prisoner collection mission as well as Warrior, I love the whole pit to groups against each other and walk out without a scratch thing that had going for it, soon as the servers get back online *glares* I'll probably give BH a try, then Agent ^^; also loving the crafting system, don't know what some people are whining about its alot of fun and the reverse eng part is a nice twist

I agree that all light side or all dark side gets a little dull or reflexive at times. I'm playing my Inquisitor Sorcerer as a Lawful Evil type. As long as you remember who's boss and don't screw up too badly I'll let you be my friend/help you out.

My Imperial Agent tends to run pretty close to neutral, making decisions based on 'what will help the empire?' I just hope I'm not screwing myself in the long term with gear options.

I'm considering an Alliance character soonish, not sure just what yet though.

And HOLY CRAP are these planets huge. I think you could fit all of Koriban into the starting city of Tattoine, and Alderan may be even bigger than that.

Edit: speaking of crafting, I'm having a blast with that as well. I went with Bio on the character that's made it past lvl 10, and there are enough critters running around that you almost always have something to scan with it. Make sure you read an online guide somewhere to get the right gathering skills for the chosen crafting skill though, made that mistake once.

I've been running missions almost constantly with the C3-PO analogue and despite the huge speeder training cost have never had money problems. I was worried about that at first. Now I just unlocked my first set of implant blueprints and am upgrading away.

.... as soon as the blasted servers come up again. Stupid official release date.

Hm. Well, my warrior is going to be evil to the core, but my evil will side with no one. So long as this person serves a purpose, they stay alive, Sith or Jedi, Imperial or Republic.
But when that purpose has been served, that person will die. Except Vette. Anyone who so much as looks at her wrong will have a pair of lightsabers through their eye sockets.

I'm currently a lvl 20 Knight and I have to say that Ordo is 100% right, you are the Hero archetype.

But it's thankfully not limited to the Luke Skywalker Hero type, I've seen Luffy type hero actions, Naruto type, and a few Natsu style.

On the darker side, I've seen Alucard of all people(he is technically the hero of Hellsing), styles that remind me of Danzo, Nagato, and Wolverine.

It's very nicely separated.

Changed my mind. Vette will not be my Warrior's love interest. That requires me to be...nice. No, later there will be a possible love interest for the aspiring Dark Side Warrior and it is she I will protect. Vette will be a sex slave, nothing more. :p

Speaking of Romance, I think the game is trying to force me to either take a lesbian romance or go out of my way to romance a later companion.

See, two out of my curren three companions are droids, the last is Kira Carson, Jedi Padawan, a beautiful mix of Bastila's morals and Morrigan's sarcasm.

And of course my Knight is female.........

Course, I love the yuri genre so I don't mind at all, but still.

Anyways. I'm surprised that as a Jedi Knight I've faced less that four Sith.

Hah! I think I fought more Jedi as an Imperial Agent than you have Sith. Well, by lvl 20 anyway.

I admit I looked up the companions ahead of time to make sure there were no conflicts between my gender and theirs. My Inquisitor is female, most of my characters will be male.

Again, I've only fought one sith during the Esseles flashpoint(my favorite quest ever!), one Sith Apprentice in the Temple, Lord Tarnis, and a Sith Assassin on Ord Mantell.

That's it, in my progression of the MQ, those are the only Sith I've fought.

How about we list the servers we are playing on, so we know where we can find friends?

I am currently playing on Trask Ulgo.

Also love crafting, bit of a money sink at times, but there is a nice feeling when you manage to get a purple schematic.

Do I have any opportunities to kill Harkun? Because I just watched a few videos and putting up with him referring to me as "slave" for ten levels is going to put a real strain on our friendship.

I'm on the Wall of Light server.

And I take back everything I said, you are not Jedi Superman, you are Jedi Nanoha.

Rubat Crystal as well, and is it just me or have the fucked around with the server limits for the origonal servers so new players head to the new servers? because seriously at 4:30am NZ I should NOT be waiting in a 200 person line to log in... I'm not even sure there are that many people awake over there at this time /laugh

From what I have seen on the server limits, they played around a bit. Almost all old EU servers were full when I checked them in the morning, and I think there will not be that large of a surge in new players.

I'm downloading the game now. 3.98GB left as of this post. Can't wait to get started and to become a Sith.

Nah, but if you pick the lightside option to thank him for all he taught you after 'graduating', he acts hilariously bewildered.
