The Pokemon Topic

I'll also add there are some little touches I like, like the fact that you occasionally see flying types in the air around you, kinda adds to the feel of the environment.
I also enjoy the fact that seeing a pokemon in game out of a battle will give you dex nav points for it, because it's a real pokemon even if you aren't fighting it. Buuut that's just bringing things back to the Dex Nav which is probably silly.

Other facets of the game I enjoy are the portraits for the Gym Leader fights, the new bits with the Eon Pokemon, and sticking it to team Magma, cause Maxie's new look makes me want to punch him.

I like Shelly's character; she's trying so hard to support her friend but is wondering if it's really the right thing. I haven't seen
Zinnia
yet - and I'm hitting the Elite Four right now, so I'll let you folks know how it goes after.

I love how Flannery is so tsun-tsun.
Indeed. The Tsun-Tsun Moe was strong with that one. I almost wanted to keep my save from before fighting her just to replay that scene. :3

Well, completed my first Contest...I like the alteration to Pokeblock Making (Makes it a lot easier to plan out what you'll get), and I like this old type of Contest as opposed to the ones in White and Black, which I had a fair bit of trouble understanding. That said...

Cosplay Pikachu is awesome, and I like the idea, but while I understand Pikachu being the mascot and all, I kinda wish we had more Cosplay Pokemon, or even just a mechanic to dress up your starter or something (Be a cool to be abe to design an outfit for them from parts and pieces you can buy, adding up to specific special effects, and put it together into an 'outfit' to be used as a held item for your starter)

Almost suffered my first defeat of my challenge. Ironically, it was Shelly, the Admin for Team Aqua, whose team almost caused my very first loss on Mt. Chimney, and not her boss (who I face-rolled so hard that I was almost giggling). My poor Lombre was down to 2 health, having been poisoned early in the battle and taken a brutal hit from her Minimized Grimer while I was removing said poison. I decided to risk a final strike rather than chug a potion, and luckily, it paid off.

I have yet to do a Beauty contest, as I wasn't really a fan of it the first time around given how confusing and annoying Pokeblocks were to make (it was probably a misunderstanding of the gimmick), but this time, I'm going to catch me a Feebas and raise it into a Milotic, then run it through the contests.

However, I have to ask if anyone knows if Feebas' gimmick (i.e. a randomized 100% guarantee spot) is the same?

Not sure what gimmick you mean. If you mean Evolution, I think it would be optional between the held item or it's Beauty stat, since we do have the option once again to boost it's Beauty stat.

As for pokeblocks, they are a hell of a lot easier to make now, it's only you making them, you choose all four berries and the menu when you're choosing the berries actually tells you the color for each berry, and the colors are the same as before (Yellow for Tough, Green for Clever/Smart, Blue for Beauty, Red for Cool, Pink for Cute), plus you don't go through the whole mini-game thing, you just choose the berries and it *boom* you get some pokeblock (Multiple ones, too, I made a batch and got a bunch of yellow ones for one mix, not sure if the number varies, though).

I believe Akun's referring to the Catch Rate for Feebas in the wild. As far as I know for Gen VI the way it works is that 6 randomized water tiles can get Feebas fished from them on that route, but he's only as common as a regular common pokemon in those tiles. So, if you only fish from a tile once you might miss it. The odds are floating around somewhere on the web, I think Bulbapedia?

Yeah, that's what I was remembering from the original Ruby and the fact that I wasn't able to google an answer on how often those tiles change or what directly affects the randomization was what caused me to miss Feebas before.

edit: Apparently, they revamped it so it's much easier to catch and not where I recall being told to find it in the earlier gen.

I'm doing a special self-made challenge for Alpha Sapphire. I'm calling it "All The World On One Pokemon".

Basically, my challenge is to pick a Pokemon before the first (actual) gym challenge. This is the only pokemon I get to use against Trainers, barring Double, Triple and Rotation battles (and even in those, he will HAVE to be in the battle, even if he's not the only one in it).

Wild pokemon aren't part of the challenge, so I'm free to swap him out for those. This is so I can complete my in-game dex and not have to try and figure out how to reset to play normally. He also isn't required to be my sole pokemon for things like HMs, so I can have my HM slaves pick up what I don't want/need on him.

At first glance, this doesn't look to be nearly as difficult as, say, a Nuzlocke; but at the same time, not going to be easy by any stretch. I can't switch out my Lotad/Lombre/Ludicolo, which means if he gets confused or something, I can't simply toss into another pokemon to tank while I cure him.

The pokemon I've ended up choosing? Lotad.

It kinda surprised me. I usually use Exp Share to level Lotad into Lombre, toss a water stone on him, then tuck him away into a box. It's terrible in retrospect, I know, but he never fit into my usual team comps.

But he's surprisingly useful for this challenge.
He's resistant to Steel, Ground and Water; he's only weak to Flying, Bug and Poison; and he takes normal damage from everything else.
His natural move pool blows hard, but that's what TMs are there to correct. My plan is to give him Strength (Normal - Atk 80), Energy Ball (Grass - S.Atk 90), Ice Beam (Ice type - S.Atk 90), and Surf (Water type - S.Atk 90) to give him elemental width. With that setup, there is literally NOTHING he cannot do at least 1x damage to.

Although, I'm somewhat tempted to instead keep Nature Power instead putting Strength on him for some semi-randomized elemental damage.
That actually sounds like a pretty interesting challenge. I think it would be interesting to try to use Togekiss. Two 1/4 resistances, 2 1/2s, and 2 immunities. I'd give her Ancient Power (LOVE that skill on Togekiss with Serene Grace), Aura Sphere (which takes care of three of her weakness types), Psychic, and Dazzling Gleam.

Could be fun, potentially. Not saying I'd actually do it (don't want to delete my current game) but it's fun to think of possibilities. I'd probably end up getting rocked by electric types. :p

Also, bump on my fic request.

You know, I still can't decide if I like Red X Yellow or Red X Erika more as Pokémon Special pairings

Special Erika is pretty damn hot without the lesbian subtext of anime Erika

I'm a Red x Sabrina fan myself, but Red x Erika is something I can live with. Yellow, I see too much like a Ginny-like character, only, because I see her development, I don't dislike her.

I always leaned more towards RedxBlue myself...

Shirotsume

Not The Goddamn @dmin
I'm hoping you mean Green.

Totally just had to remind myself that "Blue" is "Green" in Special.

I'd actually gone and finishing re-reading Pokemon Adventures the other day. I'd seen a mass update recently and figured I'd be read it all the way to the end of Black and White. But there was a bunch of missing chapters for it so my journey early. -_-

No love for Red x Misty? Though I'm a Red x Yellow man myself.

Blue is the Girl. That's why Mewtwo make the "Fire Red and Leaf Green" remark when Red and Green switch their Charizard and Venasaur.

Eh, Special Misty's pretty chill as well, but her anime characterisation and the 200+ episodes she's been in turns me off from that. I'm a victim of liking the obscure pairings, which unfortunately means there's very little for me to trawl sometimes for reading fanfics :/

Yellow is just chill as fuck sometimes though

Ash just got Goomy
and it will be evolving all the way to Goodra.

I'm this way myself sometimes. I just get tired of the same old thing, some shipfics have just sailed so many times they've lost the wind in their sails for me.

My god. For the first time in Franchise History Ash will have a fully evolved dragon type/Semi-Legendary?! The closest he's come before this is Gible!

Edit: Also after watching the intro it looks like someone in universe has finally realized that Ash has ridiculous luck/stuff happening to him and has decided to follow him around and take notes. I approve.

The "Oh Yeah" just makes the evolution sequence even more awesome.

Remember kids. Appearances aside Goodra is still a Pseudo-Legendary and is not to be trifled with. We are not responsible for what happens to you if you call Goodra "Barney" to his face. Whatever happens after that is you're own fault.
