I just think it's a bit stupid, really. I like variety, and having a team that can counter many threats. I guess, ultimately, I prefer the Smogon system.

Well, to each their own. Same reason one of my friends dislikes it although also complained about dying part being aggravating.

That doesn't look terribly difficult for the most part, apart from not letting the PokÚmon evolve. Even then, there are some decent to good PokÚmon who aren't legendaries but have no evolutionary relatives, so it's not hopeless.

It's more of a joke than any sort of challenge. On your dislike of the Nuzlocke one, the main reason is for a challenge in the main game, the chance to use pokemon you'd normally discard, and a newer appreciation and love of your mons. You could do what I do, after I finish the game I catch new pokemon for competitive battling purposes but keep them separate from my Nuzlocke ones. If it still doesn't float your fancy than maybe we can come up with a new challenge.

I was just looking on Bulbapedia at the page of PokÚmon with no evolutionary relatives, and I realized that a team of this sort is completely viable even without legendary mons.

Take a perusal through that. There are some powerhouse mons there, not all of them legendary by any means.

By the way, I encourage all of you who haven't read it to read Pokemon Special (Adventures). The first seven volumes especially are extremely fucking epic and if it had been the source material for the TV show then the TV show would have dominated ratings.

Speaking of Pokemon Mangas. I liked how Electric Tale of Pikachu showed how the anime could have been epic if they didn't keep it kid friendly.

Ash "Made of Iron" Ketchum bled while being chased by the Spearow flock.

Actually the fights in general were much more graphic especially the Charizard fight.
