If looks could kill, Hidan would have been dead and buried in an instant. Unfortunately they couldn't, and the Akatsuki member grinned widely; Shikamaru's blazing glare was as effective as Shikamaru's shuriken, Shikamaru's kunai, Shikamaru's explosive tags, and Shikamaru's creative use of his own shadow to spear Hidan's heart. In other words, not very.
His mind logically informed him that it was impossible to survive a stab through the heart. He logically informed it back that he'd done that, and by fuck, it wasn't working.
"Just give it up," Hidan said, smiling indulgently. "You seem like a smart kid; surely you've figured out by now that I'm immortal."
Shikamaru just growled in reply, bending all the considerable power of his brain into finding a way to win.
"Fuck immortality. I'll just have to kill you until you die."
Hidan's smirk widened. "You're welcome to try, boy."
As it turned out, it was Shikamaru who had the last laugh, but to be fair Hidan was too dead by then to complain.

Nicol goes as well, to keep Yzak from going overboard over Athrun meeting an old friend when they're there on business and when Athrun's away from the table and says that he knows Kira is the pilot of the Strike and that if it comes down to it, he'll kill Kira so that Athrun doesn't have to.
