Actually, it's funny that the villagers want a subversion of their legends.á The original Dragon God took all three maidens as his brides, whereas Nagi is expected to choose one.á I think the teacher needs to poke a couple holes in the obvious fallacies here.
Technically speaking, the Dragon God didn't *chose* three brides. Three maidens were sent (read: sacrificed) to the Sea Dragon god and that supposedly reduced his anger against the islanders.
That being said, Nagi's going to be rather angry if something bad happen to the maidens he *doesn't* chose. <_<
How can Nagi get upset when CLEARLY he's going to choose all three.
CLEARLY.
If you get my drift...
I guess I need to clarify some...
Nagi's going to be rather angry if something bad *were to happen* to the maidens he doesn't chose. It could very well effect how he makes his decision. ^_^
Yes, I would prefer for this story to have a harem ending - it is one of the few were it would be both plausible AND logical - but how many anime/manga series have ended like that?
This is one of those few where in nearly all things they want the same goal and get alone quite well both together and separately...
And except for him being manhandled early on by Soyagi due to misunderstanding... there has not really been any violence amonst the lot of them (not counting wanted violence against a certain perverted relationship wrecking teacher).
The island has its own laws, and clearly no one is keeping much in way of secrets or two timing.
I think the harem end is the only way to save face, blow grannys plans out of the water, and everyone gets what they want.
The only bad thing is they never would have noticed him were it not for his status... it is kind of a black spot on their records.
