You're a great writer, so I have a strong feeling you won't just repeat Galgomon's tale, but I cannot say I enjoy all this "repetition of Jenrya's past" thing.
Honestly, I don't really like it either, but I needed away around a problem that came up.

You see, the fight against Gorimon was a very important part of the series for several reasons, the most obvious one being that it was part of how Jenrya got over not wanting to fight. Take that away, and a whole bunch of things stop making sense. The most important one being this:

How do the Tamers survive without Jenrya?

Now, if this was an entire story, I could have Jenrya get over his problems over the course of an interesting, defining character arc. However, this is going to be a Oneshot focusing on Takato, so I have to cut corners concerning the other Tamers sometimes for space.

In this case, Jenrya is still going to get over his problems in this scene, he's just going to do it by watching Takato and Funbeemon being bros, but I needed he scene in question to actually be important to Jenrya so that it didn't seem wierd that it would change things.

I'm not really happy with it, since I think that Takato deserve more then being a repeat, but I needed a way to make this story work and it was this or pushing Jenrya's character growth into a tiny note somewhere and Jen deserves more then that.

Thankfully, it stops being a repeat in the next snippit.

sytang: No. In the next part,

ôI think itÆs only fine.ö Takato said, shaking his head. ô88 Call is one of FunbeemonÆs techniques.ö

Fine should be mine... Also in the post after I noticed a bunch of spelling error's, is it late where you are?

Yeah, it was about six in the mourning...and I hadn't slept yet.

I'd intended to post this earlier, but TFF has been acting kind of funky for me today.

______________________________________________________________

FunbeemonÆs flesh was stripped away quickly, revealing the wireframe beneath. And then, the wireframe shifted and stretched and warped as a new body formed around it.

FunbeemonÆs flesh had been replaced by steel. His body remained mostly yellow and golden brown, but darkened heavily while hints of red appeared. His four legs disappeared as his abdomen grew to enormous size. His arms grew more human, though his hands had only three fingers. Blue antenna became silver as his wings merged into a metal stabilizer that glowed with blue energy; the same energy the burnt within the propellers on his shoulders. Finally, FunbeemonÆs entire face was incased in a wasp-like helmet of golden metal and violet glass.

ôWaspmon!ö

For a moment, all was silent as everyone, even Gorimon, stared at the hovering Waspmon.

It was to be expected that Terriermon would break the silence.

ôWhoa, boy! Look who just got upgraded!ö The small Digimon cried, staring at the larger Waspmon. ôYou still in there, Funbeemon!ö

The usual buzz of Funbeemon was replaced by a quiet hum. Waspmon seemed to ignore Terriermon entirely, focusing instead on Gorimon, antenna swaying slightly.

Gorimon roared, firing another shot from cannon-arm. WaspmonÆs antenna gave a sharp twitch at the first sign of movement and then the shot just seemed to miss.

NoàWaspmon had moved out of the way before the shot had even been fired. Unlike Funbeemon whose movements had always seemed alive, even though they were hard to understand and even harder to follow, Waspmon didnÆt show any signs of life. The only part of his entire body that moved were his antenna, everything else seemed to simply change position in the blink of an eye. Takato hadnÆt seen him move from place to place at all; rather, it was like heÆd been looking at something through just one eye and then had quickly switched to looking at it with the other eye.

Gorimon looked confused; it seemed he didnÆt see his opponent move either. But he quickly recovered, roaring as he charged another shot.

Gorimon continued to fire shot after shot and each time Waspmon evaded in his strange shifting way. After the fourth missed shot, Gorimon began to get enraged. He roared at Waspmon, a loud sound couldnÆt have come from anything natural, before his animalistic eyes slowly searched the area for something that would give him an advantage.

They landed on Takato and Jenrya and the gears in his brain began to work. He leveled his cannon at them, power gathering within it.

Moments later, energy flew through the air, connecting with its target in an instant.

Gorimon had just enough time to look down at his chest and see the perfect, empty circle that had replaced most of it. Then, he exploded into data.

Then, all was quiet. It would have been silent, if not for WaspmonÆs hum and the background noises of a major city. Waspmon hovered as his antenna continued to move. He scanned the area for any signs of further enemies.

He turned around after he didnÆt find any.

ôHey, careful where you point that thing!ö Terriermon said as WaspmonÆs cannon pointed in his direction. He didnÆt flinch, however; he had enough experience to know better when it came to Digimon.

Waspmon paid him no heed; he had eyes only for his Tamer.

Next to Takato, Jenrya stiffened, worried. Even when Galgomon had lost control, heÆd never turned on him, butà

HeÆd nearly shot Ruki.

And Jenrya was most definitely not WaspmonÆs Tamer.

Takato showed no sign of JenÆs worries, though. He moved forward as much as the railing would allow and held his arms out over it, beckoning his partner close.

ôFunbeemon!ö He said, before realizing his mistake. ôNo, IÆm sorry; Waspmon! You evolved already! This is awesome!ö

Waspmon moved towards his partner slowly and Jenrya decided that discretion was the better part of valor. He moved to the side, careful not to make any sudden moves, meeting Terriermon at the top of the steps when the small Digimon finished climbing them.

Waspmon showed no interest in either of them, leaving them to look onwards as he reached his Tamer.

Takato smile widened after a moment.

ôWaspmon.ö He repeated, lifting his hands a bit higher. ôMy partner.ö

Waspmon moved his head into his partnerÆs hands, as he had when he was born.

Jenrya didnÆt say anything.

He just continued to look on at the pair, lost in thought.

I can't wait to see Cannonbeemon. I like his design the most out of this line.

Edit: TFF has been acting weird to everyone.

Takato entered the Royal Base, or, at least, the structure they were calling the Royal base.

Upon stepping over the threshold, he stopped and blinked.

Then he stepped back out, looking at it from the outside.

He peeked back in to confirm he had seen correctly the first time.

Scratch that; it was flat out the Royal Base. Screw whatever it used to be.

It was too cool to be anything else.

It also looked nothing like what it had several days ago.

The walls, the floor, and the ceiling were completely covered by some sort of substance.

Takato knew, even from the limited research heÆd done, that honey bees lived in a densely packed matrix of hexagonal cells within a beehive, which is made of beeswax, a natural type of wax produced by honeybees. This structure is called a honeycomb. These structures are used to contain food, eggs, larvae, and pupae.

Takato had never seen one himself, but he imagined that the inside of a beehive would look a lot like this, if bees were the size of small children.

Takato wouldnÆt call the substance coating the Royal Base beeswax, though. He lifted a hand and gently knocked it against a nearby patch, listening to the metallic sound it made. It was definitely some sort of metal, then, though he didnÆt know what.

That both surprised and unnerved him.

HeÆd designed Funbeemon with excruciating detail, listing everything he could think of. HeÆd designed him as a Child Digimon that watched over the Royal Base.

Howeverà

He didnÆt design Waspmon. Nor did he build the Royal Hive. HeÆd made a few messages of Funbeemon gathering data for its construction and it having a mysterious purpose, butà

He didnÆt know what that purpose was. He hadnÆt worried about it at the time, focusing completely on Funbeemon. After heÆd finished, he might have continued working on it, but heÆd only just finished it by the time heÆd swept it through his Digivice.

But if he hadnÆt given the Royal Base a purpose, why did it exist?

And if he hadnÆt created Waspmon, but Funbeemon was an original, one of a kind Digimon, where did his Adult form come from? Was having an Adult form just an inherent part of being a Digimon? Did FunbeemonÆs birth create an entire evolution line as a result?

But if Takato was to be honest, none of that was what unnerved him the most.

He was more bothered by the structure itself then the purpose behind it.

The reason was simply.

Takato walked a meter further into the hive. Two meters. Five meters. Ten.

And even so, he didnÆt reach the back of small structure that housed the Royal Base.

He should have walked into a wall by now, but he hadnÆt.

He was forced to accept that what his eyes saw was true.

It was bigger on the inside.

Takato glanced back, suddenly worried heÆd get lost in what should have been a small room.

But curiosity impelled him forwarded, deeper into the hive.

Soon enough, he found Funbeemon. Or rather, Waspmon.

When had he evolved? Takato wondered, before a thought struck him. Had he even devolved?

ôWaspmon?ö He raised his voice so his partner could hear him. ôWhat are you doing?ö

Waspmon turned towards him, as if heÆd expected him.

ôBuilding.ö He replied, simply. Takato noticed WaspmonÆs voice was a lot like that of an adult humanÆs, though it seemed to have a bit of a mechanical quality to it.

Takato nodded.

ôI noticed that. YouàyouÆve been busy.ö He said, marveling. ôWhat did you even build this place out of, anyway? Did the data of those plants outside really build all of this?ö

Waspmon shook his head slowly and Takato found himself surprised by the physical movement despite himself.

ôGorimon.ö He corrected.

ôàWhat?ö Takato asked, not understanding.

Waspmon lifted his arms, showing the broken pieces of data held within.

ôGorimon.ö He repeated.

Yes. Yes, he is.

No?

How about now!?

...What do you mean, vodka?

...WHO SPIKED THE FEAR?!
You have replaced 'adoable but badass' with 'creepy but nightmare inducing'.

"peaked" should be "peeked".

Hmm, maybe the Royal Base can be a good hideout for the Tamers and their Digimon (assuming they aren't too creeped out by it)

More like the sunken city of R'lyeh stuffed into a beehive. And futuristic. And guarded by weaponized bees.

It's a place where the laws of physics go to die. Being bigger on the inside is just the start.

So he's crafting a giant metal Non-euclidean beehive from the flesh and essence of his enemies, and will eventually ascend to a god like existence with an army of slave followers?

Are all of Takato's Partner's in this going to be Cosmic Horror's?

No. If I made them all the same, I'd get bored.

Millenniummon is a Time Travel Outer God Story, though, and D-Reaper is as full Lovecraft as ever.

But Dorumon is a Zombie story, Lucemon is a story about the Devil, Guilmon X is a story about Fantastic Racism, etc. If I just rehashed D-Reaper and Beelzebumon over and over, I'd get bored, after all.

But Patamon is a heartwarming story about friendship and adventure!

Okay, no it's not.

"I had a strange dream last night. I saw myself a hundred years from now, speaking to a man whose father has not yet been born, but who was already wearing a grey beard, and telling him that there are only two things that shall not die: God, who is GOOD, and I, who am EVIL."

the human mind is filled with echoes of Nightmare, he is just expresing them via drawing them, giving them NAMES and Forms.

Takato doesn't create all his partners. It'd get repetative to write a drawing scene again and again.

There will be a number of different birth stories.

I just couldn't be satisfied with that scene as it was. I just didn't like where it ended.

It took me awhile to realise why; it didn't have Takato's reaction.

This snippit is small, mainly because it's less of a snippit and more of a very large correction of a mistake I made. I'll try to get another snippit done soon, anyway, to make up for it.

Cannonbeemon is coming soon, meaning the side effects of introducing Perfect level data to the Royal Base won't be far behind (not to mention the steady gathering of data leading up to Waspmon's evolution).

___________________________________________________________________

Takato stared speechlessly at his partner for a minute, open mouthed. It took a minute for him to recover, but when he did, his jaw clicked closed and he swallowed.

What was he supposed to say to that? He honestly had no idea. Was be supposed to scream? Was he supposed to scold his partner for his actions?

But if soàwhy?

Was this that different from how Renamon had absorbed Lynxmon in his dream?

Andàif absorbing his opponents data or using it for construction was wrongàwhy was he okay with killing? He wasnÆt upset that Gorimon was dead; he was quite aware the feral Digimon would have killed him, given the chance.

No, he wasnÆt upset that his partner killed Gorimon.

So thenà

Should he really care what he does to the æbody?Æ

Takato didnÆt think it was right for him to be happy with the former and upset with the latter.

After a moment, he nodded, hesitantly, to himself.

And, after allà

WasnÆt Waspmon just fulfilling his purpose?

The purpose Takato had given him?

HeÆd been the one to write that Funbeemon constructed the Royal Base out of data, after all. HeÆd said Funbeemon had gathered plant data, but he hadnÆt said other sources of data were off the menu, had he?

Waspmon hovered before him, expecting a reply.

Takato lifted a hand, laying it on WaspmonÆs head.

ôGood job.ö He made himself say. ôThis must have been hard, but you did very well.ö

Waspmon hummed happily, before turning away, going back to his work.

He made himself smile, then, and to turn away slowly. He made himself walk, rather than run; he would never run from his own partner.

Funbeemon wouldnÆt hurt him. He knew that for a fact now, even though heÆd worried about it days before.

And so, he would not fear his partner.

With that in mind, he stepped out of the Royal Base.

Despite what he said, though, he didnÆt look back.

Takato was having a bad day.

First there had been some misunderstandings with his friends.

Then the sky had started to become strange and a wormhole like thing had appeared over the Government Building.

Then, his partner had started acting weirdly; well, weirder than usual.

And now heÆd run into that strange blond-haired man, who was talking nonsense.

ôIn the end, we must delete anything that does not belong in this world.ö The man said as he walked towards the young Tamer.

Around them, Digimon, their bodies warped and strangely shadowed, were being sucked into the sky.

ôDelete?ö Takato wondered, before his eyes widened in realization as he cast them towards the sky. ôThen, the Digimon in that holeà!ö

He didnÆt regret it when Waspmon deleted Digimon that tried to hurt him, but he didnÆt feel ill will towards Digimon as a species. Those Digimon being sucked into the skyàhe had no desire to see them die.

He hadnÆt even known that many Digimon existed in this worldà

If he hadnÆt noticed them, thenàmaybe they had been living in peace? If there had been any strange deaths or destruction, heÆd have heard about it, right?

The man ignored him utterly, calmly continuing his walk towards-

And right passed him.

Takato was both put off and surprised by being so dismissed.

The man stopped besides his partner instead. Funbeemon had flown after him as he raced through the city; it was by no means subtle, but with the lightshow going on in the sky, nobody had really paid him much mind.

He kind of hoped that none of the many people with cameras had caught his partner on them, though. Or, at least, that they wouldnÆt be believed in they showed the pictures or videos.

The man looked at his partner with contempt, before reaching towards him as if to pet a dog.

Funbeemon flew away from the hand, buzzing angrily.

ôYour playmate isnÆt an ordinary animal.ö The man said, retracting his hand. ôHeÆs just an artificial being.ö

The words struck a chord in Takato.

He didnÆt accept that Funbeemon was anything but his friend; he was more than a packet of data or a program. He would know; heÆd created him! He hadnÆt programmed Funbeemon with a desire to play with him, or a desire to be his friend, or TerriermonÆs friend, or, even, maybe, RenamonÆs friend. He hadnÆt written into him a need to play with Culumon, or to fight to protect human lives, or to like bread with honey.

All those thingsà

They were proof that Funbeemon was more than artificial!

Butà

At the same timeà

He had to wonder sometimesà

FunbeemonÆs desire to create the Royal Baseà

His endless toil on ità

His, frankly, nightmarish desire to turn the æcorpsesÆ of other Digimon into building materialsà

Were those things results of what heÆd written into him? Did he know why he worked on the Royal Base? Did he even want to?

TakatoÆs hands clinched into fists.

It didnÆt matter why he did those things; Funbeemon was still his friend!

ôDonÆt say that!ö He shouted at the manÆs back as he walked away. ôFunbeemon isàDigimon areà!ö

He stumbled over his attempt at a speech, trying to find the words to get through to the man.

But then he looked at Funbeemon and realized he didnÆt care what the man thought.

ôThere are many Digimon who are friends with humans!ö He said, finally.

Well, three, at least. A Culumon. Andàmaybeàsome of the Digimon up there?

ôWhy are you doing this!?ö He demanded, as he wondered about those Digimon being killed up in the sky.

Funbeemon interrupted him before he could continue, his angry buzzing increasing.

ôTakato.ö His partner said. ôSomethingÆs coming.ö

Takato looked at him in surprise before following his eyes to the sky.

Several things happened then, all at once.

Something started ringing near Yamaki.

A blue pillar, shimmering in the light, descended from the wormhole in the sky, towards the two towers of the Government Building.

And a rip appeared above it all, like someone had torn open the sky.
