What Cartoons Are You Watching

#1
So anyone see any good cartoons recently or have and series they'd recommend?

I've seen the new TMNT cartoon on Nick. Honestly I kind of like it, haven't seen much but it seems pretty good.

I used to watch Riders, dragons of berk on Cartoon Network but recently I haven't been seeing anything about it. Guess it was canceled then. Honestly I kind of liked it at first seemed like a good try if a little rough. I figured it'd get better later but it just didn't. The island just seemed smaller, the vikings were all kinds of stupid with how often they switched back and forth between hating and accepting the dragons, I have to wonder why no one's just exiled Mildew yet for being an ass. The whole thing just seemed ...Cheap especially when compared to the movie.

I know its not relevant, but Adult Swim released the unaired episode of Dexters lab onto youtube. Have a nice link to it.

Generally I'd suggest giving stuff from the Hub a look at least. it's a semi new channel (1-2 years old) from hasbro that everyone here has probably already heard about as it's where MLP broadcasts. I got it until about 7 months ago and it had a lot of nostalgia shows like Men in Black the Series, Batman Beyond, the original Transformers, and the New Batman Adventures, but the new stuff was almost universally entertaining as well. The ones that stuck out to me were GI Joe Renegades, Transformers: Prime, and more recently Kaijudo, though I've heard a lot of people don't like that one as well. I would also recommend giving Motorcity a shot as it recently finished though it's creator is still trying for a second season to avoid a law suit apparently. It's from the same guy who made Megas XLR.

Transformers Prime is pretty good. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as Cliffjumper? Lol. Though I will say, Airachnid is probably the best 'new' character in the show. Her encounters with Arcee are more entertaining that the Optimus and Megatron battles. Kinda odd that Japan went for the cutesy stalker voice/personality for her when she a murderous serial killer who has a trophy room full of heads.

Legend of Korra. It's an on-again, off-again kinda show for me. I think it's because of the length and the stakes. You've got lots of big moments in every episode so I have to put up with a scene I hate if I want to see a scene I like (and I keep nitpicking things like how did the Equalists ever have a chance to learn how to use planes).

In case you haven't seen the second season and are considering purchase.

It is overall good (the finale is quite epic), but it being not as good as the first season is an opinion damn near full consensus.

Thx for the warning. I've read all the Dofus manga which takes place in the same universe, but the Wakfu anime is more serious.

Honestly, I think that Wakfu is one of the best cartoon series the French have ever made.

I have a tentative recommendation for Ultimate Spider-man. Its not Spectacular Spider-man but it IS telling Spider-man stories in a different way than any other cartoon in the last 20 years. Spidey as a leader and as part of a team of supers rather than the beleaguered loner. Course most folks like that he's a beleaguered loner so it varies to taste. I do find it tries to hard a lot but I still like the different take, also it has Agent Coulson voiced by agent Coulson.

No. I'm sorry. After coming off the high of watching Spectacular spiderman... watching Ultimate spiderman was like going to a hastily put together school play right after coming from a watching a highly trained group of thespians perform Shakespearean classics in perfect form.

It's juvenile, inconsistent, and in all honesty it hurts my soul by existing. They couldn't even make Venom seem menacing... VENOM....

Maybe just MAYBE, I'm being too harsh on it in the memory of lost excellence... but Ult spider-man was garbage.

I'm getting old. I think the last Spider-Man series I saw was the one from the 90s.

Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, MLP, Transformers Prime.

Also right now watching Darkwing Duck and Hey Arnold (they don't do cartoons like that anymore)

oh, I don't deny that Spectacular was way better, my recommendation was tentative after all. I also think that it could be a lot better than it is, but i still enjoy it somewhat even though it does feel like it's trying to hard a lot of the time. I enjoy it mostly cause its different, sorta like Brave an the Bold was to most batman shows, though Again Brave and the Bold Was much much better than Ultimate Spider-man Is.

It does get way to juvenille for me. It is kinda sad though. There is so much potential in that show. There are several episodes where I was actually starting to really get into it, then they pull some kind of crappy joke moment or parody and it justs gets bad. Peter is supposed to be the king of sarcastic comebacks but most of the ones he has in here are painful.

Yeah, I am. I actually just finished watching Alien Force and Ultimate Alien as well.

Watching the last few episodes of the original Ben 10 that I missed.

However, I like Omniverse but it seems like a huge set back for the characterization of Ben. Its fun, but it like everything that he learned in Alien Force and Ultimate Alien has been forgotten.

Well, its disappointing since there was a clear character progression from Alien Force to Ultimate Alien. Besides, his most distinct features in Omniverse, his constantly saying how he saved the universe and trying to go at it alone, were things everyone kept calling him out on in the previous shows.

Batman the Brave and the Bold. Have to say it. Season 3 sucks for the most part and the last episode just seems like a combination of a very mean 'take that' and a complete undoing of Bat-mite's development. Season 2 seems the best with Season 1 being alright.

I'll admit that the whole Aesop amnesia is irritating but the writers buy a lot of credit back with me by saying that that obnoxious Ultimate Alien iteration of Ben 10,000 is non-canon/not the actual future, and they're going back to the one who was overly serious as an adult but then figured out family mattered.

Justice League, Secret Society. Unfortunately it's an episode where frequently people who are supposed to be right instead come off as idiots.
