Thanks Hawk!

Now that we have a forum, shall we make a few separate threads for some stuff? I'm thinking:

1) Guild/members info (sticky): Guild info (Name, server, faction), and people posting a short post listing their character(s) names, race, class, position in guild if any, talent build and professions, and times you're usually on. I wouldn't bother listing levels since those change so often, but some information for when the wow armory is down or a member's info isn't accessible might be nice. That way people know who to ask for enchantments, leather kits, whatever.

2) Announcements/Requests (sticky): Just a thread where members announce stuff like how far we are to getting a bank slot (including future ones), upcoming instance/battleground events, people looking for stuff or listing stuff they tossed up in the bank in case anyone wants to claim before the disenchanters grab it, people looking for help with some quest.

Anything else can have new threads, or we can even split up some of the stuff above. Still, it'd be nice to be a little more organized than having everything crammed in one thread now that we have a board.

An excellent idea Kay. I'm all for Stickies, except only mods have those powers, don't they?

I think that the most we can do it just make a Guild info thread with all the details you mentioned, and then just make the 'subtitle' a notice for no one to post in there.

If we do end up growing, I would definitely suggest a Guild Officers thread, and I might even deign to draw up a GM welcome thread.

An introduction thread might be cool, but that should also be reserved for when we grow. If we grow.

yeah I agree with the sticky suggestions, as for question, I'm at the 13 to 20 area of the Dranie place, just have a hard time with certain mob types *grumbles at the murlocks*

Alright guys, we're more than a third of the way to our goal of our first bank tab, we've got 38.85g of the 100 or so we need.

And I'm gonna be on for a little while, probably not long tho, if no one else shows up.

I'll log on for a bit, although I don't plan to do anything much unless anyone wants me to help with a quest or something. Pretty late in the evening, so I doubt I'll be on for more than an hour, and that's assuming anyone wants something from me.

Funny story: While getting the flight path in Ratchet on the way to the Seer for the third Warlock pet, a blood-elf walked up and killed me. Fortunately, I had my soulstone and resed with it before hitching a ride away very quickly. But I was annoyed for a second, so I didn't do it right away.

And he fucking T-bagged me :headbanger:

Anyone who kills someone of such a low level is just a bully-wanna-be. One gets no honor for killing someone too low, especially if it's low enough for you to be killed with one shot.

It's not even like they are killing a future opponent to prevent them from progressing in the ranks. They're lower than that.

All I do is feel pity for them and move on, knowing that they'll get off on their feelings of being vastly superior to someone ...in a game. Generally people only do that because they are unable to fight anyone at their own level and actually win.

It just goes to show what kind of person they are.

:huh.:

Or perhaps they see an enemy from a long war wandering in their territory, so they decide to fuck him up and make sure he knows he was in the wrong place.

Ganking is an integral part of WoW, and an incredible motivator to level up... Not to stop getting ganked yourself, but to gank other people. Fuck, I guarded the summoning stone to Scarlet Monastary (a set of instances for 30-40 or so, thats in Tirisfal) for around 20 minutes today, waiting for a friend i was running thru to show up... Killed around 6 allies trying to sneak thru, including a 70 druid. Its just fun, and adds a fuckton of realism to the game.

Because really... If I was a BE, and I saw a dwarf or god forbid, a gnome, walking thru a town in my territory, he's gonna fucking regret he was there.

That makes sense...in an RP server. If it's not an RP server, that's just a weak justification, because honestly? A lot of people -don't- think it's fun. In that respect, I agree wholeheartledly with Threadweaver.

I will admit that it's an incredible motivator though. But not so I can gank others, just so I don't have to deal with that shit near as much.

On the other hand, it can also motivate you to just shut off the game and go do other stuff, so it can motivate you to stop playing as well.

When a level 70 horde member named "Lolawesome" sits in front of the druid quest npc in moonglade and his buddy "Lolhaveacow" stands in front of the teleport spot and either keeps slaughtering you when you try and do your quests, that's not amusing or fun.

That's just bullying, period, and when you can tell they don't plan on moving for a good while, the only thing you can do is just either do something else in the game, or log off and hope when you log back in the idiot fuckers are gone to get their jollies elsewhere.

The only other thing that ganking also motivates, is that it motivates me to screw with Zeph's head for selecting a PvP server since I was pretty sure most people preferred a PvE one. Admittedly, I'd probably screw with his head regardless.

As far as PvP or PvE servers go, I may get frustrated, but I don't mind it as much.

My problem... is that I can't even do the leveling quests I need to do in contested lands, because there's no mid-20's lands that aren't contested. As such, I have to run around off the roads and get ganked by creatures or get ganked on the roads by opposing players looking for a cheap thrill.

If I am in enemy territory, no prob, I had it coming.

I don't care if someone near my level tries to fight me. Hell, I encourage it. It helps me learn.

There's no learning for me when there's a level 70 waiting around to slaughter me with one shot whenever I try to do something in a contested zone. It's not fun for me and only gives him the self satisfaction that he can kill a defenseless player. I suggest he go kill rats or rabbits or whatever because it has the same benefit for his character. At least he can skin those.

If Blizzard wanted to make it more interesting, then they should make it a dishonorable kill for a player to kill a vastly inferior opponent in a contested land. Enemy lands? Open season...

To temper that rant, it doesn't happen that much on this server since it's heavily weighted towards alliance. Hell, I even got the pleasure of dragging a ganker into a town in Redridge so that when he killed me, he got killed by the guards. I didn't get the armor damage, but he did because he got killed by NPCs. Still makes me chuckle since he had it coming. If had just ignored me since I wasn't a threat....

I dunno if that guy was intent on ganking me or not, because I soulstoned and got my ass out of there. It doesn't bother me that much, really. If I think I've got a ganker, I'll just walk my ghost up, stand there, and then go level weapons on stage 1 of Drakengard while he's standing there like a moron and see how long it takes for him to realize I'm not going anywhere until he goes away.

I really have no problem with Horde killing me, as long as they leave it at that. But be assured, once we get the guild higher-leveled, anybody who ganks any of us is going to get it. Hell, I had some undead warlock run into me in Ashenvale, I think it was. I tried to hide, but he killed me anyway. But after that, he left and kept going, so it was fine. Except that I had to sneak through some higher level monsters to get back on the road, but I managed that with little difficulty.

I've had very little problems with horde in contested territory... in fact, I don't think I've run into anything besides that random undead guy.

I think that when I reach 60-70 I'm going to put out notices on the localdefense channel to anyone being ganked, so I can return the favor. Best way to break them of that crap and I can get some honor too. If I have to call another member of the guild, then that's fine too.

Right on.

At the risk of sounding like an afterschool Japanese slice of life drama:

"We stand together and fall together!"

I agree that WoW does advocate warfare in the limited sense of the word. Because well, you'd have to be pretty silly not to figure that out when you see that there are two equal yet opposite factions in the game.

On the other hand, as some of you mentioned, bullying cannot and will not be tolerated. Defending the honor of your faction is one thing, the senseless ganking of someone who has no interest whatsoever in PvP another.

When we get to higher levels, I fully endorse and encourage retaliation against these bullies. They don't listen to reason and force is the only thing that will keep them away.

On a side note, Kay, you might also want to match up forumites with their names in the Info thread, as well as make notes of who is not from TFF. Thanks for your hard work, once again.

Forgive the double post.

I inducted 3 new members into our ranks today, with the firm understanding that that they would be on probation until it they are deemed trustyworthy enough to be given access to the bank and/or if they are capable of being team players.

I also made it quite clear that while I do have final say in the induction of new members, I will also bow to majority census if a member is deemed unfit for the Band. I want us to grow, but I don't want us to be taken as "easy" either.

I would also like some consideration taken on how we want to do promotions and ranking systems.

If anybody has any ideas, do post them here.

Okay, so conversation was brought up regarding tabard. We already have the original goal of one bank tab, so we can start talking about tabard now, I guess.

This Site has a tabard design/viewer that can be used to play around with what you can do with tabards in the game, and produces a link with the design so you can share. Post some ideas, or chime in with preferences if someone already has posted a design you like.

To start us off, I do think we should use the two-headed eagle/bird/hawk/whatever as the symbol. I do have a preference for gold trim and color for the symbol, though I don't care much about the background color. I think black, blue, purple and red all look good (and the various shades).

Here's two background colors of that design:

Zephyrus

I rather like the gold and purple one. Purple is the color of emperors, after all.

I was messing around with it and came up with this:

I think it looks kinda neat. It's the second trim-type, next-to-last background color, next to last symbol color, and the fourth color on the trim.

It represents our polite, courteous and intelligent outsides while still revealing our black, evil hearts. :evil3:

Noble with black hearts, huh?

Ahh well, just tossed out there.

[20:45] <Trunkyboy> Merc.
[20:45] <Trunkyboy> Sign on and kick these two idiots.
[20:45] <Merc> Which ones? Someone that Ann invited on?
[20:46] <Trunkyboy> Wiseguy and quicksilver. Underaged, trashtalking, idiotic, conflict seeking morons.
[20:47] <Trunkyboy> Who know NOTHING about the game.
[20:51] <Merc> I'm gonna post it on the board. I don't particularly care for quicksilver, but never even talked to the other guy. I'd rather not just kick them just like that. I -will- ask that there's a bit more care with recruiting though. The wave of recruiting is annoying me, personally.

Recent chat log brings up this topic.

Nothing against getting the guild to grow, but I'd really like it if instead of doing open recruitment, we actually, y'know, did some party stuff with people to get a hang of their personality before inviting them to join in? It's slower, but more reliable too, and I do think I recommended this early on in discussions of recruitment.

Not to say we can't invite some people just if your first impression of them is good, but at least get a feel of some sort for their personality.

Or at least have a defined procedure for kicking out people. Like, someone saying they don't like someone and two others chiming in, or what-not. Admittedly, I don't mind doing it on just whims either, if you're willing to trust me with the power like that (which you technically -have-, but never hurts to get permission first!).

Personally, as shown in the chat log, I didn't have a good opinion of quicksilver. His ability to butcher the english language, his repeated whining for help with that quest and insistence on being in charge of the tabard, and just general impression of his maturity annoyed me.

I don't care if someone doesn't know the game, hell, I'm still learning a lot about it, and at worst I'll do some wisecracks like I do with Zephyrus/Annelle, but seriously, some competence in the language and maturity isn't much to ask for.

Hmm. I understand, and as a matter of fact, I've decided to give recruiting a rest for a while. I'll be sending them those two letters, reminding them that it costs nothing to be polite and to grow the hell up.

Now of course, you do also realize that at the end of the week trial period, the members of good standing get to put the new members to a vote, meaning that if Quicksilver and Wiseguy haven't cleaned up their act by then, it's bye bye birdie.

I don't want this Guild's collective IQ to drop like a stone just because of a few bad eggs. And if you have any other concerns or complaints, feel free to share them.

Also, I have indeed decided that my LTs do have the power to kick people out as well as recruit as they see fit. However, I am going to stipulate that you must give valid reasons for doing so and go about discharging them in a polite, unemotional manner.

Like I said, I'm going to give the two one last chance to shape up. If they don't do so before the end of their probation period, then off they go.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Kay.

@Desdes-san: Yes. Yes they are.

Copypastaed from the GM thread (sorry Zeph): I honestly don't care. I just want my WSG tokens for my S1 gear so I don't have to bother with the dickery that is apparently WSG at 69. I might stop for a day or two every ten levels (that's about how long it takes me if I devote my time entirely to PvP those days and manage not to get stuck with incompetents in my PuGs), but then I might not. I've lasted 1-39 without doing battlegrounds, I can last from 39-69, and I can certainly powerlevel to 60 really damn fast. It's leveling from 60-69 that'll take me some time, given how erratic my schedule usually is due to my procrastination on my rl projects. Meh. See you guys in the game later. Gotta finish my physics lab report (due at 9AM CST tomorrow.)

edit: an fyi: doing a lot of turnins during AV games is really good for rep with IF for allies and Orgrimmar for horde. And I mean REALLY good. That's how I got from about 3/4 through Honored to max rep with Orgrimmar on Alavir in... about five days of sporadic playing (2-6 hours a day), as I recall. Also, you can save 80-100g on your epic ground mount depending on your rep (total for mount and training is 700g at neutral) by getting a PvP mount. No special Elekks (Dranei mount, the elephants) but everything else is available, including two kinds of Rams. Just like for Horde there's no special Hawkstriders (BE mount), but two kinds of Wolves.

edit2: hey Zeph/Ann, you might want to drop the number of guild vault withdrawals per person back to normal now that we're not in bank-cleanout mode. We're still at 50 withdrawals a day.

edit3: how much does the second guild bank tab cost, anyway?

Kayeich

Well-Known Member
Second guild tab costs 250g. Third and onwards are 500g, 1K g, 2.5k g, and 5k g.

Leeroy-tan did reduce the number of withdrawals actually. She merely kept it at 50 for the founders, since we tend to be the most active, and thus the most likely to keep the bank clutter-free. Everyone else is still limited to 10 withdrawals per day.

Awesome news was released in the last few days on the WSG front:

In 2.4, they are going to break the wsg turtle.

After 5-10 minutes of both teams possessing the others flag, the people holding the flag take 50% extra damage. After 10-15 minutes, they take 100% extra damage.

Thats so incredibly awesome, that I nearly crapped my pants hearing about it.

So fuck pvping early to get your wsg marks... If ya just wait 3-5 weeks for 2.4 to come out, wsg wont be nearly as huge of a headache.

And yeah, if you're going to buy all of your s1 gear, you'll be able to get the av mount (frostwolf for horde, I think its a horse for allies) with the sheer overflow of av marks you'll get. But that'd take you waiting til your mid-60s to get your epic mount, and thats pretty damn lame.
