Beware of Dog. Cat not trustworthy either.
As for changing over to the Horde... I'm kinda bummed that it took this long to come up with this since we've all spent so much time working these chars. There's no way I'd want to maintain two sets of characters so if we make the plunge, then it will be a one-way thing for me.

I'd PREFER PvE for the following reasons:

1) I personally have yet to see the advantage to PvP servers. We can still raid cities on PvE and if it's a main city, then the residents will be in home territory and unmarked anyways. So far, we've led few raids on mid-level contested cities, and when we get high enough to do them, we'll be slaughtering them without honor anyways.

2) if you think ganking is annoying on a low pop server, how bad will it be with three times the people, most being lvl 60+? I'm not sure I want to spend that much time rez'ing and running from one-shots or from gank groups that happen to be questing in the areas I'm in. Motivation to level up? Maybe. But it also kills the fun I have in the game since I can't level when I'm hiding.

3) Once we make it to 60+ and can defend ourselves better, how many chars that are going to go after us are going to slaughter us due to the fact that they have the epic armor or twinks? Might this also not be the case for lower levels on higher pop servers? Yes, this can be remedied by PvP bg's, which are the same in PvP and PvE servers, are they not?

So far, I've found that most people who've ganked me on PvP have been spiteful bitter people that sit around my corpse and laugh, or one-shotters that gain nothing from the action. Either way, it shows a rather disturbing vindictiveness that seems to be born of the PvP process itself. "I've been ganked and crapped on, so why not do it to others, ne?" I've even caught myself thinking that way a couple times, and I'm not particularly fond of it.

I welcome discussion/criticism to these viewpoints and in fact encourage them since I'm still a PvP noob.

If we go PvE horde, I could transfer a char or two over from Norgannon for some cash to start the guild. I think I have about 100g between my two highest chars there.

Oh god, that reminds me of one time on Emerald Dream...

Three Allies were around near Xroads, a Draenei LV22 Mage, LV31 Warrior, and a LV60 Druid.

You can imagine my battle cry as I charged the Draenei at a mere LV18.

Rogue, that is.

In other words, PWNED.

But, that's when the Mage got pissed and all three kept trying to kill me, only for me to sprint back into Xroads each time.

Ahh... good times.

How much time have you guys put into your characters? I know on my first 70 it took me ~17days of playtime (as in, I played 17 days worth of WoW) to get there, and on my shaman who just hit 70 last night, I cut it down to 10 days. Hitting level 20-40 isn't putting a lot of time into a character... Its learning the area, learning the quests, and figuring out if that class is for you.

As for PvP or PvE... I suppose its more of a... flavor issue. I'd feel very weird if I saw an ally I couldn't attack in neutral territory. The PvP server just seems more enjoyable to me. I dunno. Your call, there.

But yeah... If ya decide to switch servers, make it a full plunge sort of deal. You wont be able to really devote a good amount of time or energy otherwise.

To be perfectly honest, while I am sick and tired of being raped by Horde in BGs, I too feel like we've invested too much time in our current toons to haphazrdly switch over to another server just to reroll Horde. We're almost over half way to 70, or at least, most of us are.

Unless someone can offer compelling reasons as to why we should switch to another server, I think we should stick to our current path.

The idea is certainly tempting and the others all but jumped on it when I made the suggestion in anger/jest.

Continue to debate amongst yourselves and see if you can't arrive at a decision.

I play socially, why count the hours you're doing nothing but leveling?

It's an MMO for a reason.

Err... I play socially too. Before I log in I turn on vent, and half of what I do is shit with my guild. I actually spend more time socializing via WoW then pretty much any other way.

If you misunderstood, those hours are the amount of time my character has been logged in. Not just me turning on a stopwatch when I start leveling, and turning it back off when I finish. I believe its /played that you can use to see it, but I see mine via Titan addon.

I gave those times as an estimate... Someone said they were halway to 70, or that they had invested in a lot of time on these toons.

Chances are, you actually have not. Leveling from 1-60 is incredibly easy now, but 61-70 remains as hard as it has since BC came out. You'll spend more time from 50-70 then 1-50, and much more time from 60-70 then 50-60. So if you're level 40, you're not actually halfway there... Its a good deal less then that. Thus I gave the playtime of my first 70... If you're not around 7-8 days in on that character, you really arent halfway done.

Ok. I don't want to go on leveling my char until we know for sure what we are planning to do.

I'm leaning to reroll horde myself, if only for the simple fact we can chose a high to medium populated server. Merc can attest that I have complained/whined about playing on a dead server, and now would be a perfect time to switch before continuing to invest in our current chars. Yes they have time invested, yes we've grown attached, but 1-60 is now even faster then ever, it won't take too long to get back to 40. For those of you who want to give the server a chance, it won't change. People would rather wait through queues then play on a dead server, that's how bad they are.

I also wish another pvp server myself. Having played 98% of the past three years on carebear servers, pvp servers seem to offer more in the terms of game enjoyment. More spice, if you will. For those who don't wish for ?? to gank you, know that on non-dead pvp servers high levels of either faction are never far away. And hey, who doesn't like killing farmers and players of the other faction that are taking your nodes/herbs/rare mobs?. Dammit, it makes grinding fun! Nothing like fighting dirty horde/alliance to break up the drooling monotomy of grinding/questing.

So yeah. Let's discuss this.

I was just saying, Ike.

Or, rather, giving an excuse. My highest character was a LV51, though it really wasn't my fault as I couldn't find any good groups for the instances at that level, and soloing was too meagre and boring for me as a Hunter with "Phat Lewtz."

... *Snicker snicker.* "Why, grandmother, what phat loots you have." "ALL THE BETTER TO OWN YOU WITH!"

That quote alone makes that fight my favorite Opera fight... Romulo and Julienne is easier, and Oz is more complex, but nothing can beat the Big Bad Wolf yelling about how he's going to own you ; )

Heh... funny we should be talking about changing servers.

As of the posting of this message, Darrowmere is down. The ONLY server that is down, out of all of them.

Kind of amusing.

Ahh.... Third-Party Reference jokes.

Don't you adore them?

And, well, if you guys do hit up Horde-side, sling me a PM if it's an RP or RPPvP.

Ninja-Edit:

TB was on Vengence.

Which, looking at the scoreboards now, are being heavily battered by Horde.

I'd really rather not switch just as I've hit the coveted level 40. That said, if y'all do switch, I wouldn't mind joining in, though I'm not abandoning Nikiv by any means.

Sexy 'lock BE FTW! Considering the BE magic corruption thing, the way the 'locks talk about 'corruption of the darkness' could make some interesting quest logs...

And I like PvP, it's more exciting. Even yelling "MOTHER F*CKER!" over guild chat is kinda fun.

Phail, Undead are sexier 'locks.

Ask half the women of TB's Horde-side, I was teh pimp.

... Okay, sort of.

True, very true.

Unfortunately, this also means that there are more UD 'locks than you can begin to count. They have the best casting animations of any race/class combo, but still...just too many of them.

Please don't mention that damned Wolf. Loved the Oz event, even with the high coordination it took to learn it. R&J was bearable with the timing, but the Wolf...just too damned random. Hard as hell to kite him in a small, square room, and he's just plain evil to melee. Tough to get up a good lead on kiting when you were sitting on his arse to begin with. Especially if the healers don't like you and 'accidentally' miss a save. :blue:

Actually, back on TB, I didn't see very many. Warlocks weren't very popular as a class Horde-side, strangely enough.

Saw dozens of BEadins, and HELLSALOTS of Hunters on both sides.

I actually remember six RPing Warlocks on that server, and three of them were the same person.

By the time TBC hit, most UD locks that were played frequently were 60, and quickly advanced to 70. With the introduction of Belfs though, most of the incoming player base horde-side jumped on the Blood Elf bandwagon. After all, why play a sinister forsaken warlock, consorting with demons when you can roll one a blood elf, a race where the males are traps and the females are anorexic sticks?

Not to mention the most homoerotic racial laugh in the history of MMO gaming, in the case of the BE male.

No, there weren't very many undead left in Azeroth when TBC came about. They all migrated to Outlands, at least until the belfs leveled enough to infest that content as well.

(As you can no doubt tell, I hate blood elves.)

Anyway, yeah, that was disturbingly sad...

Seriously, what's wrong with the world when you can't find a woman with a figure?

That's like those shirts that say "I'm in shape, Round is a shape."

I'm thinking of picking up a USB headset/mic soon, any models you guys recommend in particular? I'm gonna do some research of my own, but I like having opinions form others. One thing's for sure, it needs to have surround sound, since my box has 5.1 speakers hooked up already, and I don't wanna backslide.

You know, you can hook up the mic and speakers seperately. I just bought a headset, cheap 30 dollar Logitech one, and the mic is so short (I have a big head) that with 'em on, it doesn't get close enough for me to speak very well. I find that just plugging in the mic half and keeping them around my neck, where I can turn my head to speak into the mic works pretty well.

OTOH, my sounds in WoW are half-on-half-off. This may be a result of me messing with the sound or that, but I haven't cared to figure out just yet, go figure. The headphones I have work pretty good, but unless I press my glasses to my face, they hurt my ears.

I see your point. One of the other reasons I want a good set of headphones is so I can play later into the night without waking up my family, since I rely on sound to tell me where/when mobs are approaching me.

The headset I bought has horribly uncomfortable ear pieces, so I also just where it around my neck, and use my old headphones (which are rather comfortable) as I used to. It's worked our pretty well for me.

Hm... Saturday nights would probably be best for myself and Holyra, or Sunday afternoons. Sorry I haven't been on for a while, I've had quite a bit of homework to do, but I hope to be back in action tomorrow night after class. Oh, Thursday nights at around 9 CST work for me too, and if Holy can't get on his own toon he and I can be on the phone while we're meeting, if Thursday is better.
