Except, the monks really are breaking into museums and the like, while stealing ancient artefacts.
Yes, artifacts that Dashi himself created that are too dangerous to leave out in public. That's something Robin would understand. Especially since Batman and Superman have both done similar things (stealing Kryptonite from a geological museum immediately comes to mind). You just need them to realize that the Dragons are pretty much charged with protecting and hiding those artifacts, and that Mad Mod played them all, and they would get into a territory of at least live and let live.
And am I the only one that thinks Raven might come to find Omi to be cute? Given Omi's dedication to being a monk one would assume they have a bit of common ground in terms of meditation.
And given we're still playing the "Wuya is Omi's mother" thing, would she find Raven worthy and try to encourage a relationship?
They could bond over having to live down their evil parents.
"Okay, so your mother is a 1500 year old witch that nearly conquered the world twice now?" Raven asked with a somewhat concerned glance.
Omi's face fell a bit as he quietly replied, "I...yes. I do not like to talk about it much. Mother has, as Raimundo and Kimiko say, the issues."
Raven could not help but wince as she thought of her own Demon Lord father as she responded, "I understand. All too well."
Omi looked up in curiosity and was shocked to see a pain similar to his own mirrored in Raven's eyes. "How did you handle it?" he asked after a time.
"We defeated him. He... will not return," was all that Raven could bring herself to say.
"Ah. That approach will not work with Wuya. She is not... wholly evil," Omi admitted with a bit of disappointment.
"Really?" Raven asked.
Omi nodded his head as he replied, "She has risked her own life to save mine. And she keeps introducing me to girls that Clay has said seem like blind dates, although every one of the girls seems to be able to see just fine."
Raven smiled at the naivete of the diminutive monk as she listened to him list his mother's good points for a moment. It was clear he both cared for Wuya and worried deeply about her behavior.
"I just wish I could make her see that her path is not the right one," Omi concluded with frustration.
"Why do you think she does what she does?" Raven asked him.
"I asked Dojo that once. Mother was once a Xiaolin Dragon as we are, along with my father Grand Master Dashi, Master Guan, and Chase Young. She only lost herself to evil when I was kidnapped as a baby by the Heylin and she joined their ranks to find me. I could not understand how she could remain evil once I was found," Omi explained.
"What did Dojo say?" Raven prodded gently.
"That my mother no longer remembers how to be good. And that even if she did, she does not think she deserves that life any longer. But that does not make sense. Why would she deny herself the chance to be happy? It is all my father ever wanted for her. It is what I want for her," Omi lamented.
Raven considered her own friends as she thought over Omi's words. Of all of them, only Starfire and Beast Boy seemed to stay genuinely happy most of the time. And even BB had issues on top of issues between his past with the Doom Patrol and losing Terra. "Some people, I suppose, just can't let go of the past and learn to live in the present," Raven finally said.
"And it does not help her reform efforts to have Jack Spicer's villainous grandfather making passes at her," Omi grumbled with a scowl.
It was all Raven could to to keep herself from hugging Omi to comfort him with that pouting look on his face. The young monk was devastatingly cute in his fit of pique, as far as Raven was concerned. Little did she know it was a trait he had inherited from Wuya. Her irritation was like a beacon to Dashi long ago. Finally, if only to try to cheer them both for a bit, Raven asked, "Would you like to get a cup of tea while we talk? I think we could both use it."
Omi looked mystified by the offer for a moment before he smiled widely and responded, "That would be most wonderful, Raven. I would be honored to join you."
As the pair headed off Beast Boy wanted to pinch himself from where he had been watching the interaction from a distance as he asked, "Dude, did
Raven just ask the short, bald, kid out on a date?"
For her part, Kimiko just nodded in shock as part of her was glad it wasn't Katnappe, and another part of her wondered why she felt like throwing a fireball at the nearest tree right now?
