Bleach You as a Shinigami

Inspired by the You as a Jounin Sensei and the You as a Konoha Genin threads.

I what would you be like if you were a Shinigami in Sereitei?

What division might you be in?
Try not to instantly make yourself a Captain/Vice Captain; the seated positions are probably fine since the bulk of them are not listed. IÆll list the open positions at the end of this post.
If youÆre a seated Officer having a shikai is fine, itÆs rarer for an unseated officer to have shikai without a reason why they arenÆt a seated officer
Try not to have Bankai, itÆs damn tempting, I know, but remember it takes ten years of training to achieve it.
Do you specialize in Zanjutsu, Kidou, a mix, unarmed combat, healing, or support?

Ok, open Sereitei positions. I think the seated positions go from 3rd to 20th, someone correct me if IÆm wrong.

Division 1 Positions 3 to 20 are open
Division 2 Positions 3 to 20 are open
Division 3 Positions 3 to 20 are open
Division 4 Positions 3, 7, and 8 are taken
Division 5 Positions 3 to 20 are open
Division 6 Position 9 taken
Division 7 Position 4 is taken in the beginning of the Sereitei arc. Jir?b? Ikkanzaka is made unable to become a shinigami again in his battle with Ury? Ishida
Division 8 Position 3 taken
Division 9 Position 20 taken
Division 10 Positions 3 to 20 are open
Division 11 Positions 3 and 5 are taken
Division 12 Positions 3 to 20 are open, this being the research division they might not have seats like the rest of the Gotei 13
Divition 13 Position 3 is taken, and I seems that the Vice Captain position is open as well at the beginning of the series.

Could you list what the different divisions are for and who the current Captains and Vice Captains are?

... I only ask because I'm too lazy to wiki it up myself.

Technically bankai doesn't take ten years to be accessed. A person with the potential shows up around once a cgeneration or two. It generally takes over a century to access it and a decade to master it. As far as I can tell the only Shinigami who have achieved bankai who are possibly under a century are Hitsugaya, Ikakku, and Ichigo.

Hmm... knowing me, my zanpakuto's ability would probably be something that hits hard, but is fairly easy to dodge. Maybe something that would allow me to manifest reiatsu around my blade for an explosive attack, but the more reiatsu I use, the heavier it gets. Since my first plan, even before I learn what my shikai is, would be to learn the binding art branch of kido, that would probably work out well. Since I would try to specialize in said kido, I imagine that I would join the Fifth Division; since Aizen was known as a master of kido, and Momo was as well, I think that they are supposed to be the "kido division,' much as the Eleventh is the Zanjutsu division. Seat? Eventually. I'm a pretty smart guy, and I would most definitely be motivated to learn how to do this stuff. Depending on how long I've been dead, I could see myself anywhere from 8th to 4th seat, advancing further after Aizen's betrayal and Momo's collapse.

The only Divisions with clear cut peposes are the 4th for Healing, the 12th for research, and the 11th for fighting. Otherwise it isnÆt specified. I think the 2nd division dresses in a Ninja equivalent or something. Those might just be the special forces though.

Here's a listing of Personnel

1st Division
Captain: Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genry?sai (General)
Lieutenant: Ch?jir? Sasakibe

2nd Division
Captain: Soifon (??) (Commander of the special forces and Executive Militia)
Lieutenant: Marechiyo ?maeda
3rd Division
À Former Captain: Gin Ichimaru
À Lieutenant: Izuru Kira

4th Division
4th Division's primary function is support and medical duties. Because shinigami on the 4th division lack fighting abilities, they are oftened assigned to menial chores like sewer cleaning when not performing medical duties.

À Captain: Retsu Unohana
À Lieutenant: Isane Kotetsu
À 3rd Seat: Yasochika Iemura (Squad Leader of Squad 1)
À 7th Seat: Hanatar? Yamada (Squad Leader of Squad 14)
À 8th Seat: Harunobu Ogid? (Second Leader of Squad 1)

5th Division
À Former Captain: S?suke Aizen
À Lieutenant: Momo Hinamori

6th Division
À Captain: Byakuya Kuchiki
À Lieutenant: Renji Abarai
À 9th Seat: Mihane Shirogane
À Rikichi

7th Division
À Captain: Sajin Komamura
À Lieutenant: Tetsuzaemon Iba
À Former 4th Seat: Jir?b? Ikkanzaka
Easily defeated by Ury? Ishida, who also removed his ability to become a shinigami again after Jir?b? continually tried to harm the weaker Orihime Inoue, who was alongside him during the fight.

8th Division
À Captain: Shunsui Ky?raku
À Lieutenant: Nanao Ise
À 3rd Seat: Tatsufusa Enj?ji

9th Division
À Former Captain: Kaname T?sen
À Lieutenant: Sh?hei Hisagi
À 20th Seat: Toshimori Umesada

10th Division
À Captain: T?shir? Hitsugaya
À Lieutenant: Rangiku Matsumoto
À 7th Seat: K?kichir? Takezoe
K?kichir? is mentioned in passing as Hitsugaya and Matsumoto were discussing Gin Ichimaru's involvement in Aizen's murder.

11th Division
This division is the most fight-loving and violent of the divisions. They also consider the 4th division weak, and often bully them.
À Captain: Kenpachi Zaraki
À Lieutenant: Yachiru Kusajishi
À 3rd Seat: Ikkaku Madarame
À 5th Seat: Yumichika Ayasegawa
À Makiz? Aramaki .

12th Division
The 12th division is responsible for research.
À Captain: Mayuri Kurotsuchi (2nd Research President)
À Former Captain: Kisuke Urahara
À Lieutenant: Nemu Kurotsuchi
À Hiyosu
À Akon.
À Rin Tsubokura.

13th Division
À Captain: J?shir? Ukitake
À Lieutenant (former): Kaien Shiba [Deceased]
À 3rd Seat (former) Miyako Shiba [Deceased
À 3rd Seat 1 and 2: Kiyone Kotetsu and Sentar? Kotsubaki
À Rukia Kuchiki

The 2nd divison isn't the special forces. Since the last two captains happened to be the leaders of the special forces their agents followed them into the division. The twelth division was origionally just another divison. The research and development was founded by Urahara later. Though, it is unlikely they allow anyone who isn't a scientist in.

They're what we in the 12th division call "Guinea Pigs"

Just who do you think Mayuri blew up when he tried to capture Orihime?

Never said the the 2nd Division as a whole, was Special Forces, just that Soifon was the commander of the special forces.

Here's me as a Shinigami.
Done like this because I always write charcters up like this, even if I never use them.

Tenoh Reiko (Japanese convention)

11th Division, 10th Seat

Zanpakut: Ryuujin - Dragon King

Height: 5'11"

Combat style
Reiko uses an unorthodox mix of Zanjutsu, hakuda and hoh (sword, hand and foot combat) mainly centred around wielding her zanpakut in her right hand and using her left hand and feet for extra strikes as needed. She can also use some kido techniques.

Zanpakut
Her zanpakut looks like katana with a oval guard. Ryuujin's shinkai command is Tennimesareru - ascend to heaven. When Ryuujin's shinkai is used Ryuujin lengthens into a Nodachi with a western style dragon on the blade near the guard.

The special ability of Ryuujin is two forms of flame based attacks.
The first, Sokkou - swift attack, is a very fast but weak attack shaped like a crescent moon made of flame.
The second, Shukou - Main attack, launches a powerful blast of fire shaped like a western dragon. This attack is slower than Sokkou but can follow it's target for a short period of time.

When Ryuujin is unsealed Reiko can only wield him with both hands in combat as he is too long to control single handedly.

Personality
Reiko is a loud mouthed, slightly crazy, fight happy shinigami... in other words a typical 11th division member, she is one of the few female 11th Division Shinigami but then she doesn't let that slow her down. Reiko isn't scared to pick a fight with other division member and will quite happily join in on any free for all combat or bar fight. She is also willing to use kido, but these are the destructive spells, one of the few 11th division to do so. Quick to anger and quick to cool off Reiko doesn't really hold grudges, but when she gets angry she lets the target of her ire know about it. She doesn't bully 4th division members but doesn't stop the others either.

Edit: Changed the Shinkai command

Warcry isn't a command. You can give a war cry, but you can't war cry.

Heh.. I finally came up with a suitable Zanpakuto! I'll use sanotova's example for format ^^

Kazeno Taka

10th Division, 7th Seat

Zanpakut: Kogarasumaru - Raven Blade

Height: 5'5"

Combat style
Taka is a mid-ranged fighter, specializing in a mix of kido and Zanjutsu to keep opponents off balance. He's not above using tricks in a fight to give him an advantage, so long as he achieves whatever his goal is. If the goal is to win, he will. If the goal is to distract... well.. that's his specialty. He will not bring in anyone not involved in the fight if he can help it though.

Zanpakut
Kogarasumaru looks like a simple, yet elegant katana with a square guard. Her release command is Soratobu - Fly in the sky. In Shikai form, the blade turns black and elongates, becomming the size of a broadsword. It's shape is that of a large wing, with bladed feathers the size of his forearm sticking out along the back in a row. The handle is golden, and ends in what appears to be a raven's claw grasping an orb.

The special ability of Kogarasumaru takes on three different forms.

The first, Suberu - A passive ability that allows Taka to jump higher and farther as well as fall slower if he wishes to. This doesn't mean he flies, it just means he has more control over his jumps and landings than most.

The second, Hane Shuriken - By physically plucking one of the pinions along the blade, Taka can use them as a throwing weapon, striking the opponent with surprising accuracy. If needed, he can also use them as a secondary weapon to block a strike.

The final ability is a desperation attack, Hane Gofuu - With a concentration of reiatsu and a swing of his sword, Taka can create a miniature tornado, sending all of the bladed feathers on his blade into it. A deadly technique, and only to be used if he has no other choice, since the feathers on Kogarasumaru require time to regenerate.

When Kogarasumaru is unsealed, Taka can wield her in one hand, despite the size of the blade, mostly due to its wind element property.

Personality
Taka is an easy going person with a ready smile and a yen for pranks. He loves jokes, tricks and the occasional bit of slapstick. Unfortunately, he's also known for his bad puns. Whatever job he's given, he does it... but will usually do a few little other things to make life... or in this case, AFTERlife, more interesting. A delivery errand may end up with something more than just the item given to be delivered... like a 'harmless' firecracker or something to cause shock or embarrassment in the receiver. He even likes to play around with targets, teasing and taunting them in any way he sees to best keep opponents off balance. His favorite targets are 4th division and 11th division shinigami.

That's not to say he never gets serious... it just means that he's not the type to take things TOO seriously, and is usually the last person to ever panic or worry aboyut something in battle. A majority of his kido are focused on misdirection to match his trickster nature.

2nd Division 4rd seat.

Kron Isard (The creepy dude)

he sports a beard, and his height is extremelly short. He is somewhat embarassed by his shortness, but it helps to avoid being hit. and he is extremelly agile.

He wanted to enter the second division because of her capitain, Soifon, He is in love with her since the first time he saw her, but he believes he is too weak to catch her eye, since she always seemed to be obseseed about the power of her predecessor. Therefore, he currently trains to attain bankai. He believes he is only a few months away. In fact, he had heard the voice of his zanpakutoh once or twice in dreams already.

Kron is a loyal officer who does not flaunt his skills, but he still does everything in his power to catch the eye of his captain with his efficiency. He is still fourth seat because he believes tring to attain more responsabilities would cut in his training with the unending amount of paprework the higuest seats demand. Nonetheless, he is an stickler for the rules, like his captain.

Fighting style:

He focuses in speed and the odd Kidou, mostly the ones that ould incapacitate his opponent. is speed makes him able to incapacitate most his opponents by maiming quickly, not letting the opponent react. He is nowhere the level of his captain, but he dreams someday would reach that level.

His weakest part is that since his shikai are a couple of sais, he has a reach disdvantadge with mostly everything, and he has to rely in mostly piercing atacks. But because the small size of his Zanpakutoh his penetration power is more powerful, because his zanpakutoh is more concentrated. therefore, he could theoretically scratch Zaraki Kenpachi.

Zanpakuto: Unsealed, it looks like a normal zanpakutoh, except a little smaller than normal. Handle is hollow tube, with a spike coming around the reverse of the handle. (He could stab with the two ends.

Unsealed(Shikai): "sand of Eternity"

The Shikai are two sais, one in each hand, the rigth one, has a red handle, while the other has a blue one. each sai gives kron one ability.

1- Time speeding: not really, only it accelerates kron the more time it passes. Making him see the world slower and slower. at first it is barely noticeable, but it grows as time passes, making him faster and faster. In his training, he even maintained shikai for so long that time around him was practically stopped, because he was going that fast.

2- Phase: he can phase out of time for a moment parts of his body, allowing a blade to pass through him, or he to pass through walls. Extremelly tiring in terms of reiatsu.

Bankai: Not achieved. Think like prince of persia. He can retrocede in time a few seconds as many times as he wants, to avoid strikes, and capitalize in opponents mistakes. That abilities accumulate with the ones on his Shikai. The blades change color, one becomes completely red, and the other one completely blue

Umm, I don't know if it is an ability that they learn at higher levels or not, but since there are multiple times that we see them simply floating in the air, wouldn't that make this ability kind of pointless? Then again, I think we only really see this happen when they are on Earth, so who really knows...

I dislike fighting, so swordplay or hand-to-hand combat are out. I would probably be in 4th Division, since they aren't expected to be good fighters, and healing is somewhat appealing to me. I would likely pour almost everything into kidou and shunpo; kidou for its many uses and shunpo just because I think it's neat. Doubt I would ever want to be even a vice-captain; certainly not a captain. Too much damned work and responsibility by far. Besides, 4th D already has a perfectly competent captain, from what the manga has shown.

If you've read Aku Senkotsu then you've probably got some idea.

Chousen Asagao, a scruffy, somewhat lecherous fellow who was in the 11th Division is his own era (but as the divisions are set up in the series would probably gravitate towards the 8th or 13th Divisions). He's likely in a low-seated position, but actively tries to avoid promotion since it means more boring paperwork and less time to break things, eat large meals and flirt with waitresses.

Having travelled in the Soul Society for a couple of centuries before becoming a Shinigami, Asagao has significant past in many areas and with many people - past that sometimes comes back to haunt him. He has adopted an infant girl called Atae and carries her birthfather's zanpakutou for her (it's her mother).

A little short of six feet tall, Asagao has blond hair he ties back in a high ponytail and a goatee beard. His forehead is noticeably high and broad, with a small round scar on it almost exactly above the bridge of his nose and he wears wire-framed spectacles over his dark blue eyes, although he can get along fairly well without them. Although broad shouldered he's not too powerfully built. Freckles mark the outsides of his forearms from elbow to knuckles. Asagao's sword, Genzoyaibano, is a shirasaya katana (i.e. a unadorned wooden hilt and scabbard that appear as a single piece until the sword is drawn) and therefore lacks a guard. The hilt is a little shorter than most katana hilts - not quite long enough for a two-handed grip.

Asagao is very bad at Kidou, well above average skill in zanjutsu and hakuda, extremely good at hohou and has only slightly above average reitatsu (all these as compared to typical low-seated officers - he's well below the level even a vice-captain). He has accomplished Shikai, although this is not widely known since his zanpakutou does not change it's appearance when activated. The two feats thus far associated with Genzoyaibano are Seigun and Enshin:-

Seigun: a brief glimpse by the wielder and whoever else he chooses from another's perspective, completely with emotional overtones. If the vision is not to be that of the wielder, the source of the vision must be within sight of Genzoyaibano and the vision cannot be directed to anyone not looking at the blade. It is not possible to edit any part of the vision - it is explicitly honest and accurate.

Enshin: places Asagao at the centre of a mental circle, allowing him to see in a 360 degree arc around himself. Anything within line of sight of Genzoyaibano is visible to him and he can see quite a bit more clearly than would usually be the case. Obviously, this makes it difficult to launch a sneak attack on him while Enshin is active.

Asagao has not managed (or attempted) Bankai and is unlikely to for many years as he is still exploring the capabilities of his Shikai. If he does achieve Bankai, then it will probably be a psychic effect of some kind.

Here's my turn at this:

********************************************************************

Name: Zukkotsu Jian

Gender: Male

Division: Fourth Seat of the Eleventh Division

Zanpakutou: Named Agehaken, AKA Swallowtail Blade

Shikai: Agehaken simply morphs its katana-esque blade into a tsurugi-esque blade made out of pure, raw reiatsu, allowing it to cut through almost anything. This form is called Agehaken-Usugiri.

Bankai: Agehaken morphs into a chain-linked blade-whip, with each blade possessing razor-sharp edges. Much like its shikai form, the bankai form of Agehaken, while it looks like it's made out of metal, is also capable of slicing through pretty much anything. Is called, in this form, Agehaken-Muchiuchishou.

Height: 5' 11"

Fighting Style: He uses mostly zanjutsu, with the ability to utilize an extremely-precise form of shunpou(sp.?), reminiscent of zanzouken, if he really needs it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jian is a misanthropic man whose only passion seems to be fighting. His normally-suppressed sadistic streak usually manifests itself in the form of him toying with his opponent before finishing he/she/it off. The fact that he wears glasses makes him a prime target for what many consider the bane of the Eleventh Division; diminutive, child-like, Kusajishi Yachiru, who often calls him 'four eyes' because of this.

There is nothing in that bio that doesn't make me think your character is an overpowered SI.

indeed, Zaraki trusting him with Yachiru make me think Gary Stu. Seriously doubt Zaraki would trust anyone with Yachiru...or really trust anyone, period, beyond their use to him as opponents.

Okay, NDF, you got me on that one. I don't know what the Hell I was thinking with THAT particular little snippet. Want me to edit it out, or something?

Yeah, you probably should. It just doesn't work, in my opinion.

It was more the fact that your character suffers from blades that can cut people in half in one blow syndrome. With a sword like that you could take even Zaraki down.

The purpose of this thread is to establish what you'd be like as a shinigami. But if you read the opening posts it is supposed to be relatively realistic.

If this is basic for all shinigami, then Kogarasumaru would allow Taka to do so with more power and control than other Shinigami. Less like flying, more like near complete control of himself in the air.

Hmm

Name: Lu Mias (so I couldn't think of anything original... I just hope it's not an actual word that means something less then flattering.)

Gender: Male

Division: 4th division 19th seat (18th or 17th seat if 19th taken)

Zanpakuto: Darkwind (Gender female)

Shikai: Transforms into a long staff that requires both hands to wield correctly making it a bit harder to use then it's base form.

Ability(s): Shadow Step, allows the wielder to teleport to a new location (Short jump, no long distances,) Unfortunatly this is a rather finicky ability and has been known to teleport him somewhere entirely different from where he wants. It has on more then one occasion got him into more trouble then it saved him from.

He has since learned to be careful using it around cliffs and other hazards.

Kidou Amplification While in Shikai form Darkwind will match any reiatsu Lu puts into a Kidou spell allowing Lu to either use one at it's normal strength for less energy or allowing him to double the strength of the Kidou used.

Bankai Unknown he has never reached Bankai and in all honesty has not done much training towards it and doesn't have any plans to attempt it in the near future.

Height: 6'2

Body Type: A little overweight, but a decent portion of the weight is muscle

Personality A bit lazy and not very ambitous, but despite that when it comes to his work he's reliable and not half bad at it. Were it not for his complete lack of ambition he would probably be a higher seat then he is now, but he doesn't train as often as he should.

His becoming a seated officer was not something he expected (or wanted for that matter), but occurred after a Bar brawl broke out between members of the 11th and 4th division.

In all actuality it was a fight purposely instigated by members of the 11th division so they could have some fun beating the stuffing out of the weaklings from 4th. (No seated members of either side involved)

After having his drink spilled by a member iof the 11th squad he got annoyed and led his drunken comrades into battle and managed to beat back the much stronger 11th division squad.

When called into his captain's office the day after the bar brawl he was expecting to be punished, to this day he's not sure if he got the seat positon because The captain thought he was skilled, or if it was a punishement.

Has considered transfering to the research department as some of the going on's there actually interest him and he has the analytical mind for it. However since he distrusts the research division's captain he has never transfered.

Battle Tactics Generally sets startegies up and has his comrades execute them.

but when forced to battle alone or in cases where it's not possible to set up an involved startegy, he'll rely on his Kidou( which he has been to lazy to train in, so he doesn't have nearly as many as he should) and his erratic Shadow Step.

People have mentioned using the Shadow Step is stupidly reckless, but he always manages to survive with an odd mixture of both good and bad luck.

#25
Why do I see some really weird shit happening when shadow step is used? Like warping into a female changing room or something like that?
