No surprise that Lord Vetinari was suggested, but what about Mister Vimes? That might not be as crazy-awesome though, so maybe swap him for Misato instead?

Has Dr Hell already been suggested ? He's got experience with giant tobots already, after all...

The problem with Dr. Hell is that his pilots are often integral part of the robot. :sweat2:

That said, seeing Machinebeasts Shinji K7, Asuka M2 and Rei F3 would be fun. :p

(in case you wonder, three of the Machinebeasts Dr. Hell created were Garada K7, Doublas M2 and Deimos F3, hence the names)

Isn't Yui Ikari, the origanl pilot of Unit-01, now an integral part of it?

Uh, Yui was *testing* it, and it was an accident.

Shit happens, son.

Or for that matter, Major Armstrong of same?

There will be shirtless scenes, MANLY SPARKLES, and declarations of "Passed down the Armstrong line for GENERATIONS!"

Armstrong as NERV commander would be pretty scary. Shinji would probably be overwhelmed the first time he sees the guy do a muscle posing scene.

Still on the FMA series how about Maes Hughes as commander. He'd probably force all of the NERV employees to repetitively look at his pictures of Elysia, his daughter (whom is a toddler). I can also see him driving SEELE up the wall by brining up Elysia whenever they try to contact him to demand results for beating the angels and junk.

Sorry, but there are only two people I could honestly see as properly commanding NERV without the whole "turn everyone to Jell-O" routine, and have some honor about it:

NERV Commander William Adama

NERV Vice-Commander Saul Tigh

And it would go something like this...

The commander rose to his feet, walking down the lengths of Cage Seven, nodding occasionally to each of the technicians. Finally, coming to a halt at the catwalk before the entry plug, he looked at the three Children.

"As of this moment, humanity is at war," he started, his gnarled hands clutching the railing as his voice dug into their ears like harsh sandpaper. "Do not think you should join us out of some sense of obligation, because where we are going is likely to be a one-way trip."

Shinji froze. He looked over his shoulder, noticing Asuka, who had started to smile in an odd sense of pride. He knew she would serve. Then to his left was Rei, who would stick by the old man if only for the loyalty she had shown this man's predecessor... his father. But then, what would he do?

He couldn't... no, he wouldn't let the others fight this war alone.

Misato stood off to the man's right, shaking her head as Shinji stepped forward. "I... I-I'll do it," Shinji blurted out.

"Alright," Adama bellowed. "Let there be no misunderstandings. Volunteers, remain in Cage Seven. Everyone else, clear the deck!"

Not a soul moved.

"Then we have a war to fight," the commander barked. "On our lives, on our honor, we swear not to let the Angels take this base! This is our final stand. So say we all!"

Everyone looked at each other. They had heard stories about this man and his eccentricities, but no one had truly believed it. The Children, in particular, remained silent, still as shadows.

It was only when Vice-Commander Tigh stepped forward, that the message became clear. "SO SAY WE ALL!" the commander repeated.

"So... say we all..." the crowd of technicians muttered.

"SO SAY WE ALL!" Commander Adama repeated.

"So say we all!" the bridge bunnies sang out.

Shinji felt a strange sensation in his chest. A warming, pounding like that of burning blood and the strength of his human heart coming to life. The commander repeated his oath, as the technicians, the communications officers, Misato, even the janitors cried out in response. They were united, all in one cause: to defend mankind from the enemy.

What was he doing here?

They supported him, they gave their all for him to pilot, and he shrugged through it?

This man had not forced him. He was here by choice, something this man had stressed ever since he took command. Those who left did so without shame, while those who stayed watched as the commander didn't simply hide in his old father's office. This man stood on the command tier, and directed his people. He LED them.

"SO SAY WE ALL!" Adama barked.

"So say we all!" Shinji roared.

I believe I brought up something similar to this idea in another thread, but we have to ask ourselves...

What would GH, and Lord Raa do?

What would I do? For one, burn the stupid Dead Sea whatchamacallit. I don't believe in destiny being preordained, I would much rather make my own scenario.

Also, not sabotage the Jet Alone project. Even if they would be useless in the long run, the giant wastes of UN money would at least provide a distraction in battle with Angels.

Also, screw SEELE. I'll play along only until I can discreetly start arranging for 'accidents' to happen to each of them. Might as well use the leftover money from NERV's budget to do some private tracking down...

I liked the older Battlestar Galactica as a series more. However, I do like the Commander and the President and Starbuck from this newer one. Tigh I can't stand.

I'm amazed that this hasn't been suggested yet.

Replace the entire Nerv bridge crew with the bridge crew from Star Trek TOS:

Gendo = James Tiberius Kirk
Fuyutsuki = Mr. Spok
Dr. Akagi = Leonard McCoy
Maya = Uhura
Hyuuga = Sulu
Aoba = Chekov
Kaji = Mr. Scott
Misato = ? I dunno who'd replace Misato aside from Kirk. Maybe leave her where she is.

Seriously, what is wrong with you guys that you haven't suggested this yet? And if it has, then my apologies. I must have missed something.

Edit: How on earth did I manage to misspell "Spock?" I guess typing stream of consciousness has its disadvantages.
