Also completely delicious.

Edit: And, technically, a MILF.

Shinji grows up hating humanity. The first chance he gets, he triggers Third Impact, only instead of Tang, everyone gets transformed into Reyvateils.

Mir approves. So does Rei. And Hikari. And Mana. And Mayumi. And Misato. And Maya. Asuka's thinking really hard about it.

But didn't Mir state in one of the supplementary materials that Reyvateilia was actually a pretty retarded idea in retrospect? And she's definitely switched over to a different mindset by AT2.

Admittedly, though, the female cast of NGE as Reyvateils WOULD be absolutely hilarious...

I was thinking that this was before Mir's Heel Face Turn, when she hadn't met Lyner yet. Upon reconsideration, this is the dynamic I'd consider:

Mir wants to initiate Third Impact to destroy Humanity.

SEELE wants to initiate Third Impact to elevate Humanity.

Gendo wants to initiate Third Impact to reunite with Yui.

The Angels want to initiate Third Impact to achieve their own Instrumentality.

Shinji achieves Third Impact. He hates Humanity and thinks Mir is as close to perfect as a being can get. So he turns everyone into Reyvateils.

Mir seriously doesn't know what to think.

And somewhere out there, Shurelia is laughing her ass off.

Mir didn't want a world of only Reyvateils, more accurately she wanted one where roles were reversed, with Reyvateils as the dominant ones and mere humans as nothing more than objects to be used as they see fit.

What she changes her mind about is the worthlessness of humans as a whole - however, she most definitely still thinks, even in AT2, that the majority of humanity sucks. And she's, unfortunately, very right there. The rest of the cast doesn't even attempt to defend mankind against that particular accusation, because it's just plain the truth.

To be honest, given the type of humans we see in AT1, I can't fault Mir for having genocidal ideas. Bourd and his cronies did their level best to prove her RIGHT at every corner, and then the Church of Elemia goes and acts like complete dicks themselves...

Dude, we did that discussion already. I sympathize with Mir, but I just can't agree with her initial stance.

<s>But that has no bearing on this idea.</s> Rather, it should be a source of conflict/drama. Shinji turns everyone into Reyvateils thinking Mir would be happy, and instead Mir doesn't know how to respond; certainly, no human has tried, and succeeded, to change an entire would for her before, even if the result isn't exactly what she wanted.

As for the other characters, since <s>everyone</s> a large part of the world are now Reyvateils, including most of the female NGE cast, how would they respond? My joking statement earlier aside, some of them might actually welcome the change while others are apprehensive about it.

I'm not sure how to explain how Mir ended up on Earth in the first place. Maybe Shurelia's sealing attempt went awry?

You are free to not agree with Mir's stance, but you just plain can't deny that the majority of humans in the Ar Tonelico world are DICKS and while she's going to extremes, she has every right to be pissed at them.

I mean, for God's sake, they basically practice legalized slavery of cute girls, and there's massive mistreatment involved in a lot of cases. I'm sorry, but going homicidal on humans because they, as a whole, treat your race like tools is nothing more than giving them a taste of their own medicine. See how THEY like being on the receiving end of coldblooded abuse, maybe they will learn something.

Har, as if. I just can't muster any sympathy for the vast majority of humans in AT games. They do way too much bad shit way too often. And Mir herself is a product of their being dicks. All it'd have taken, as Lyner proved, was kindness. But no, most of humanity insisted in being dicks. Well, that's comeuppance for it. Learn to be less dickish next time.

I may have accidentally on purpose caused all the non-assholish people on Ar Ciel during the time when Mir was created to fall through some plot holes and wind up on Space Station 13. Which then exploded. Apologies.

Yeah, I lost interest in this discussion. Tell you what; since you prefer to re-discuss whether Mir was right or wrong and/or the dickish nature of Ar Tonelico humans rather than anything related to the current plot bunny, I'll just kill the bunny.

a Reaper. found in a cave on the beach or something.

a derelict semi functional reaper w/c became the basis for Lovecraft's cthulhu mythos. that was stranded millions of years ago after it was damaged during one of the extinction cycles.

whispering and indoctrinating shinji at a young age.

shinji would bring forth new technological advancements. and may still end in shinji helping turn humanity to tang and unify everyone for a different reason.

Given the rate that bunnies breed at, I don't feel especially guilty about just one dying. Now if it was a cat... :snigger:

The first decent Ar Tonelico idea in a long time, and you're happy it's being dropped?

You are implying that AT is a series I care for overmuch. It generally isn't - the first game was decent enough, the second made me hate the series as a whole due to insane frustration at THAT FUCKING BUG, and I am boycotting it by not buying Qoga.

A word of advice to developers: If you want to sell more copies of your games, how about spending less time on tits and more on playtesting to make sure there aren't GAMEBREAKING BUGS DURING MANDATORY BOSS FIGHTS?

The fact the reply they gave us on how to 'fix' the problem was basically 'grind a lot and beat the hell out of it before the game freezes', which is NOT a solution, just them being lazy cunts, doesn't endear the series to me any either. Replakia may work wonders, but it's still not in the miracle making stage.

Therefore, since they got my money for a defective product they never fixed, they aren't seeing a penny from me for Qoga, regardless of how careful they were with playtesting there. That'll make us even, and if more people than just me do it and it means low sales, well, CRY ME A RIVER. Next time, don't release a blatantly broken game.

Ahem.

You realize of course that they could hardly release a patch for a PS2 game, right? And that the bug wasn't present in the Japanese version, so they hardly expected it to suddenly pop up on the American version?

Yeah, yeah.

Here's news for you. THE BUG IS STILL IN THE GAME IN ITS PAL VERSION. Which came out EIGHT MONTHS after the NA one, when the bug was notorious at that point.

Riddle me this, now: how did they manage to FAIL to fix it in eight months for the PAL release? When they KNEW it existed?

Answer: They were fucking lazy. There may be an excuse for the NA version, but the bug still being there in the PAL one is inexcusable.

It's not even the first time this happens. Mana Khemia for PSP has a bug that prevents making weapons from the postgame dungeon, making 100% completion impossible. This bug was in the US version. IT ALSO WAS IN THE EU VERSION, which, again, was released 6 months later.

Let's be honest, they are fucking lazy and that's the truth. I'm not going to cut them any slack for not fixing a known issue in the eight fucking months between the NA version and the EU one. It's bad enough we Euros must wait, but to eat the same bug the NA guys got over half a year earlier means they just didn't care and wanted to make a quick buck.

So yeah. I'm not giving them a penny until they prove they learned the fucking lesson and stop halfassing it.

And so in retaliation for a company being stupid (gasp! say it ain't so!), you're going to torpedo fanfic ideas?

Bugs and gaffs in games are hardly new... some games are infamous for them.

"All Your Base Are Belong To Us."

comes to mind.
