And Avatar Season 3 is upon us!

Yes he went into Avatar state. But at the end, he suddenly displayed supreme skills without it.

Also the turtle thing...seems to deus ex machina to me. I mostly think the creators had thought out a different path but because they wanted to end it quickly, they used that method. Cause it seems less thought out than most of their other instances.

OH...THAT. His tattoos flashed for a second(when they flash, it usually menas Avatar State.)
He probably tapped into it for a few seconds.

The Lion Turtle thing...meh. But it DID help Aang out in the end.

Rofl, was kinda dissappointed when Azula went off the deep end there  . At least we got a cool fight scene.

Edit: Woot broke the 100 post mark finally

I'm honestly wishing they delved a little into more about the lion-Turtle. It was just too... Duex ex Machina as someone mentioned. I honestly want to know it's history, it can speak to humans and apparently "Spirit bend" or something of the sort.

I still admit, I enjoyed it. I don't think the Aang/Fire Lord fight was too over the top because thats exactly what they aimed for. I mean, you've got the most powerful firebender in the world and he's powered up by that damn Comet. He's gotta be a badass atleast then. I particularly liked the whole zooming around, it showed an impressive amount of control.

Can't really say anything Aang did was too over the top other than how he down the first Airship. The rest I believe was quite acceptable. The Avatar State seemed... well... once again, DeM.

I will say this though... the mini-gun rock... awesome. Just awesome. I knew there wouldn't be any on screen deaths with it being Nick, but I admit I didn't think that Aang would take his bending away. The bit with incorporating several things like Aang seeing him with his feet was good.

The Azula going crazy bit was... strange. Though I guess you could chalk that up to several of her close friends betraying and humiliating her. When her mom appeared and she started calling Zuko nicknames, it was nothing but down hill from there.

Though I will say this, that was one supremely well done fight between Zuko and Azula. The sound work was perfect in my opinion and really had me into the fight.

Toph was, of course, awesome as always. The full metal body suit was... god... just... just great.

In conclusion. Acceptable ending to one of the best Psuedo-animes produced by Americans. Good show all together that blended humor, good writing, and awesome fight scenes together rather nicely.

That's also the Avatar State, but the difference is that it's the controlled Avatar state and not the "I WILL CRUSH YOU LIKE A PATHETIC ANT." Avatar State.

Can I just state, by the way, that the "everyone down to the bomb bay hatch, we have an important Birthday coming up" sequence was possibly funnier than that whole damned "Ember Island Players" combined? In any other episode, that would have been followed instantly with the crew falling out of the ship but with the extended setup it was utterly hilarious.

Boomerang didn't come back. 0_0,

I don't think this is the end of Avatar. We still have a lot of things left that we don't know.

Where is Zuko mom and did she kill her father-in-law.

Why did Azula think that her mother though she is a monster.

Did Ozai had anything to do with Iroh son death.

What happen to Iroh that seems to have change him from a a great general to what he is to day. Yes I know his son died but I just get a feeling that there is more to it.

Will Zuko give back some of the stuff he stole as the blue spirit.

Is Aang the last of the Airbender.

One thing I want to know is who was the first Avatar.

the finale was....eh

good ...not epic to me but good. fighting scenes were nice, toph pwns as always, the azula vs zuko and katara fight was cool, and i felt a lot of things could have been explained, and that it was rushed.

oh and as always deus ex machina...always good to save the day....yea that's all i'm going to say about this.

again I say that the other characters were totally useless we never get to see them fight its like they vanished during southern raiders ans never heard from again.
yea, i was kinda hoping to see some all around action pack thing with all the characters participating like they did the day of black sun episodes *shrugs* but meh...if that's what you like? -_-

I liked the ending. For some reason Crazy!Azula was... really hot. Well to me at least. Though, I am wondering, we know what happened to Ozai, he's in jail, unable to bend... but what happened to Azula? Oh, and Sokka's drawing at the end, epic.

We're going to get 3 live action movies that may continue the series (or not, who knows), a bunch of online mini-episodes, and maybe more comics from the creators. No more Avatar: The Animated Series until...well, until the guys decide to do Book 4.

I thought the Airship sequence was done well, especially the whole "Birthday in the bomb bay" bit. "Happy Birthday" indeed.

Azula... I think her being crazy was something that was building for a while. The loss of her mother, despite how she acted, was what started it off. Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal added to it, and then the whole Phoenix King bit pushed her over. She wanted the glory, and she was denied. Yeah, she was made Fire Lord, but now nobody knows the destruction of the Earthbenders was her idea in the first place.

The fight between Azula, Zuko and Katara was great. Especially how Katara managed to capture Azula.

Toph's metal suit? Awesome.

The whole White Lotus society coming together to take back Ba Sing Se was very cool. Loved the way the firebending master (Jong-jong, was it?) totally owned the other firebenders. And Iroh burning the Fire Nation flag? Priceless.

And I liked how Aang contacted his past lives for advice, only to end up even more conflicted... and then chose to walk his own path.

I'm sad the series is over, but I loved it when it ran, and am looking forward to buying the dvd's.

I don't think the idea was hers at all. She was a puppet of her father's from beginning to end. She was used by her father from the very beginning until the end. I don't think even she is capable of such a monstrous plan. In all likelihood Ozai planted the idea germ of the idea in her mind.

and so ends one of the greatest animated series ever (American or Japanese)

that said i just finished watching the movie and all i can say is "damn!" nearly every moment was full of epic fucking win. it made the extra day and a half i had to wait to watch it worth every minute.

i am sad that the show is over but at the same time i am not to said because as somebody said (either here or on rangerboard) "the Story of Aang is over but there are still more stories to tell." (referring to the three avatar movies and possible new avatar series)

Disapointment runs rampant in my mind.

Azula was marginalized by becoming too crazy too quickly.

Aang didn't really grow beyond his psycological limitations at all.

The Lion Turtle was...wtf Deus Ex Machina.

Katara joins the long line of female characters too stupid to stay out of the way in the middle of a duel and nearly gets Zuko killed.

Aang still acted like an insecure six year old...

The threads of win were there, but someone tried to weave them on a pair of branches with a twig shuttle.

Bolded where necessary.

He said it was one of the best. It's up there with Batman: The Animated Series.

I won't say anything about South Park though. It's not my style of show.

i found something on another board that describes a possible fate for azula.

here it is

But what happens to her? I don't know, if you wanted a grim ending...

Well, Firelord Azula is a gracious leader... she awakens every day to consult the documents of government, maintaining the fire kingdom while the Phoenix lord goes about his business. It's been odly long since he returned, but she knows he's busy. Her attendents snap to at her every command, and even if the weather always seems bad, or some vital message comes in...always something that for some reason insures she doesn't have the chance to walk beyond the gate of her estate, they treat her as the fire lord should be treated. She doesn't even notice that the documents are always the same documents.
Sometimes a man drops by and they treat him with great respect...perhaps an envoy of her father? He looks strangely familiar almost as if...but no, it's been years since Zuko lived. He makes his bow to her and speaks with her Chamberlein, and then he leaves. Ah well, there is more work to do, Firelord Azula knows, as she consults maps that have military formations on them that exist...only in her mind.
And riding away, Firelord Zuko ends another once yearly trip to his sister's prison...a prison that exists primarily in her own mind. If she ever remembers, he'll have to decide what to do. But it's been a long time and she's shown no sign of that. Perhaps it's better than facing the reality.
there is just one more thing. Every year, on the anniversary of Soizins comet, Azula retires to her room...and that night, the attendents dread, because she'll start to scream and rage, against her mother, against Mai against Ti Lee...and the next morning, when she walks out, completely calm, her attendents will have to work hard to insure her totally destroyed bed chamber is ready for her that night...
okay, a bit long, but who knows-- Without help, Azula will probably stay i nthe land of the "I love me JAcket" for a long, long time.
also i found a character analysis of azula

Azula, the embodiment of jealousy and Neglect

enjoy
