I don't think she entrapped him there at all, hell she seemed surprised that he was there. She was as shocked as anyone when grandma gave him the Inn.
Well... that has been discussed in this forum before, and I do not think we really want a full rehash, but there is direct evidence she knew exactly what was being planned in the anime by Hina, and indirect evidence in the manga that she at least helped it along.

Hina knew most of the girls' mannerisms, even Shinobu, who, as I recall, wasn't actually a tenant of the dorm when Hina left it.
Actually, this in only partially correct. The events of Shinobu becoming a resident differed between the anime and the manga.

In the anime Shiinobu was not a resident until Keitaro helped her out and asked the divorcing parents to let her stay. Thus she never lived there under the rule of granny Hina

In the Manga, she had already been a resident before Keitaro arrived.

Gah... could not find the Love Hina section at first, forgot it was renamed (knew renaming it something that un-obvious would be troublesome)... too used to direct links to what I want.

In any case...

“I promise on my life and the honour of my entire clan, that I will not sell this image, Keitaro-san.”
No way, then she would not be able to rub it into that blowhard....

"But if you won't let me borrow some clothes, then I'll just have to do this thing naked."
This, would not raise any questions at all.

However, it would require her to at least pause before letting others see...

Glad you are moving forward with it, though I did not think it warranted reposting the whole thing.

combining sections was a bad idea

I did not care about that so much, the problem is while I fully know Akamatsu is the creator of both, I did not immediately think to make the connection when going to it in a list of anime, I look for 'Love Hina', not 'Ken Akamatsu'.

Normally not even an issue, but in this case I copied the story local, left the forum, read offline, then went to make the comment, and the subforum was not in the recently updated list anymore as I cleared it out.

In any case, still glad to have seen this updated, and look forward to more.

Was it something to do with Keitaro’s health or did Tsuruko have other plans? And if she did, what could they be?

Tsuruko couldn’t have found Orateki already, and Keitaro just wasn’t the sort of man who would interest her romantically speaking. Even if Tsuruko had been alone for a few years now.

That left one possibility. “Aneue is planning an omiai for me!”
The Hina Honeys don't so much jump to conclusions as bounce from conclusion to conclusion like superballs. :snigger:

I noticed she left out telling Naru and Kitsune the single most important piece of evidence. That Tsuruko mentioned if she did *not* loan her cloths or otherwise find something better, she would go and do it naked...

Motoko probably thought it was a joke meant to obfuscate the real intent and thus didn't think it worth passing on. More fool on her.

He wanted to do her justice, but he didn’t want to be disrespectful. Not only would it fail to dispel the reputation some of his tenants had of him, but it might anger a woman who knew how to wield a sword with deadly effect.
This was smartly written, because it is vague enough that he could refer to either Tsuruko or Motoko... considering Tsuruko's comments to her, and a locked door, I can just picture the angst Motoko must be going through at the moment...

Some thoughts though...

As much as Tsuruko may be tempted, and her comments to Motoko aside, she really should not pose for a nude portrait, even for her bedroom and private viewing.

If her goal is to actually have that other guy *know* she has a commissioned painting... as unless she is willing to show him it (something I doubt even she would want to do for a nude of herself), it should not be done.

On the other hand, if the goal is to secretly and privately be able to smirk and show this guy up without him knowing, that should give her pretty much free reign...

One aspect that may or may not have occurred to her, but may to Keitaro... is this could be only the first of potentially *more* commissions. I can see it getting around that two houses have his paintings and the one upsmanship of the higher families might well allow for multiple commissions, even ones with specific strings attached to not sell them.

Such a event coming to be would actually in the end make that guy that *bought* his painting look less in the eyes of others that specifically sought him out and had them commissioned.

This type of setup would be difficult in the fact that Keitaro wants to remain hidden from public eye, but is *not* impossible, such families could use the Aoyama family as a o between and a promise to not directly seek out or divulge his identity.

This would be a nice financial windfall for Keitaro and a boon to the Aoyama both in status (business/social ties to keitaro) and personal ties to Keitaro, were the goal a Tsuruko match.

All that would be for long term story, and does not help much here.

Motoko really does have an overactive imagination. How does one jump conclusions from her sister borrowing clothes to planning an omiai. That's a bit of a stretch o_O

So no nude modelling then? Shame XD

Doesn't Tsuruko have other dresses that she brought with her? Drawing her in a nice sundress would be loads better than in a gi and hakama. Maybe she can borrow one from Haruka.

This is a matter of opinion. It might well seem that way to you or me... But... would it seem that way to Tsuruko. I can see her thinking it might be appropriate for a family such as hers.

They should be able to figure something out. What Lord Raa ends up doing will like I said have to be determined by what he wants Tsuruko to get after walking away from the experience.

Of course, even if she reasons something one way, there is no saying she might not go the other in the spur of the moment, I can see her getting caught up in her own intrigue and get a painting she really wants emotionally over one she was planning for her original purposes.

It is a matter of which stream of thought will be more prevalent.

Hmmm... you know. Two things worry me.

Keitaro, being Keitaro, even had he wanted to, I doubt he would have much anger in himself to the girls under normal conditions. But this was a portion of his life he frantically guarded, and was acting nervous over potential discovery even beforehand. I can potentially see him flying off the handle at the girls over the invasion of privacy.

Far more likely, and potentially worse, is Tsuruko's reaction, not to her knowing motoko saw them walking away, but that motoko, by invading Keitaros privacy, means her own family, while contracting him in secret over this whole thing, places his secret identity at risk. I do not think she will take it well that not only Motoko but Kitsune will be snooping into something that was a private secret desire to her. I believe, at this point, it will stop being the playful side adventure for Tsuruko and force her to be serious about something she did not want to do so about.

In either scenario... it would be like a stupid person sticking a tail into a sliceball nest.

(and yes, that is a expression, wonder if anyone would actually get it).

Good addition

I can honestly state I was not quite expecting that end response on part of Tsuruko...

One thing... I would have expected a bit more of a reaction from her on the proposed destruction of her specific portrait... not merely because of the time she had spent on it posing, but because of the time he spent by her personal request to do it... The first would make her seem petty and caring only of herself, the latter makes her more caring of his time and feelings.

the "whhat makes you thin you can do X?" thing and responding with doing that thing is awesome.

I see it more as her acting nonchalant to throw them off the fact that it is a big thing.

The sweeping part was hillarious.

I keep imagining Tsuruko doing the Roadrunner routine with Keitaro in her arms. Her repeatedly sticking her tongue out, saying "Beep Beep," and then darting off when one of the other girls get close.
