If it was an AU where she had some reason to dislike her father maybe, but then you wouldn't even need Ty Lee. Sad as it is to say, a canon Azula wouldn't do it.

Why is this sad?

IMO, she's the best looking of all the Avatar characters. Toph's cute but not sexy, Mai's face is a bit off, Katara just gives a 'childhood friend' vibe I find dull and Ty Lee's a bit too flighty. As for the minor characters, I never even got a chance to decide if I liked their characterization.

Wait, flighty is a disqualification, but "homocidal" isn't?

I don't have a disturbing love of that.

I do have a love of messing with people with statements of that though.

Just keep telling yourself that.

Anyways, I've decided to take a crack at this. DO you guys think I should have Ty Lee find out about Aang being the Avatar before they leave, or have it drag out for awhile?

I'd say have her find out after they leave... But don't drag it out too long, otherwise she would get really sad thinking they were keeping it from her when she does find out...

Besides once he starts bending more than air it'll become pretty damn obvious.

The Air Monks never decide to send Aang to the Eastern Air Temple, and as a consequence Aang never gets iceberg'd and dies in the Fire Nation's extermination of the Air Nomads. Though the Avatar is immediately reincarnated into the Water Tribe, the Airbenders are now irrevocably gone, and the cycle has been broken: within another century or two the Avatar will reincarnate into the Fire Nation, and after that life cease to exist.

The unnamed Water Tribe Avatar (perhaps Pakku?) goes on to fight in the war against the Fire Nation until he, too, eventually falls in combat. The Avatar is then reborn into the Earth Kingdom...

As a certain little blind girl.

Toph as the Avatar has been done. Drakensis wrote it. It was awesome.

Oh. Damn. There goes my idea.

just because its been done one way doesn't mean that it can't be done other ways

Just what did you mean by life would cease to exist? I sort of like that idea. The Fire Lord wins, Azula takes the throne. And then everyone dies because the spirits abandoned them. I believe that would be a True End.

I meant after that life (as in incarnation) the Avatar would cease to exist. Though it would be hilarious if the spirits got pissed off by Zhao's killing the Goddamn moon and suddenly everyone but the Avatar loses their bending powers, or the moon disappearing causes the sun spirit (bonus points if it's Ra or The Unconquered Sun) to come down and start bitchslapping the Fire Nation army around...

Amen. I know at least one other writer claims to be working on the idea and frankly I'm looking forward to it.

I like the idea that the spirits gave all the elements for a reason. There should be stiff penalties for killing the avatar spirit. There should be stiffer penalties for killing one of the elemental spirits.

Zhao: Agni, I just killed your best friend, give me a high five.

*North Pole is incinerated.*

No offense to the spirits (some were very cool) but they never really contributed that much to the plot. They just sort of appear every now and then without much rhyme or reason. What's the point of having such weird coolness if you don't intend to use it?

Sozin's Comet is actually

That wouldn't make a difference. It's a comet; it doesn't actually enter the atmosphere, it merely scrapes across it. In other words, it won't land.

Unless it decides it wants to.

Considering how many times it must have passed by over previous millenniums and not decided to land, I don't see why it would change its mind at any given pass.
