Well, since I've been watching CG again, I've come up with a couple ideas.
The first is what if on Kaminejima island, during the events of episodes 18-19 of R1, Lelouch wakes up with a broken mask because of how he landed after the Gawain's attack. Not only would Suzaku and Kallen find out his identity, so might Schneizel, Lloyd, (I can't remember at the moment if Cecile was there), and the other people there. Which only would lead to Lelouch having more problems on his hands.
The next would be in R2, and is: what if the operation to retrieve Nunnally (either one) had succeeded. How much would have changed?
Another R2: What if Lelouch had been able to pull himself together quicker after Nunnally's 'death' and had been there to counter Schneizel's attempts to get the Black Knights to betray Lelouch?
And a final one: What if someone, say Kallen, had arrived at Kaminejima island in R2 and entered C's World with Suzaku and C.C., and had, on the request of a certain crazy journalist, had taken a small camera with her and had witnessed and recorded the events that went down in in episode 21, which eventually finds itself in the Black Knights' hands. How much would that make them go 'Oh shit, we really fucked up on this one?'

I would really have to watch it again. Suzaku isn't pissed at Lelouch yet and Euphie is on the island so, they'd team up earlier. I bet it would make the Britannia side hella more deep and complex just like it was suppose to be in R2. Kallen, well, I have no idea what she'd do, but she'd end up helping Lelouch in the end. ^_^ And, Schneizel and the others? IIRC, they came after, so it would be Suzaku and Kallen knowing, but that'd be up to the writer. Maybe, the EU and the Chinese Federation actually do something because they have to fill the episodes with something. It also draws into question if episode 22 should happen.
Nunnally rescuing? Doesn't seem like it'd make a difference honestly.
If Lelouch pulled himself together? That could easily happen if Rolo had died already. Lelouch would have picked up the phone and Schneizel wouldn't have met the Order of the Black Knights. Hence, no betrayal, maybe no Suzaku with Lelouch.
After episode 23, I really wonder if not exploding Fuji would have done anything if the Order of the Black Knights and Emperor Lelouch went up against FLEIA. I'm assuming the tape convinces them to side with Lelouch.
It just seems like in season one, there are so many more ways for it to diverge. R2 fucked it up.
