Fuck everything else, they better not screw over Constantine's character in that new series.

So they changed the underwear on the outside, changed the legs up a bit, added some odd detailing on the arms and altered the shield a bit (Though looks kinda the same to me). Seems like they're avoiding the old image in little ways so as to keep some semblance of familiarity at least.

Anyone else hoping that Superman has chest armor and that isn't how his real torso looks?

Also for some reason Supergirls costome gives a weird vibe though that might be what they were going for (if she is still the girl that spent most of her life off earth).

And I gotta say Conners suit, other then the arms (OMG what the fuck is wrong with his arms) looks good IMO, it reminds me of an Elseworlds comic where Supes was raised on Apocalypse.

Connor looks more like a cyborg there than a teenaged clone of Clark. As for Superman, they don't have to change jack about the shield. The red on yellow sheild we all know and love was not introduced until the 1960's. You have a good timeline of stuff like that here.

Basically, the way the lawsuit reads they don't have to change any of Superman's look or modern powers. He may have to become someone other than Clark Kent/Kal-El and may suddenly come from Argo rather than Krypton, but that's it.

Given that the Golden Age Superman didn't have the same power set as the modern one does, they'd be hard pressed to have that make sense if they tried.

They all look like poorly-built robots. I'm not impressed.

Sorry if that makes you mad.
Not mad. Just disappointed. I expect the "you disagree with me so you must not know what you're talking about" spiel from people like GenocideHeart. Not from people like you.

Just so I'm clear: Is DC ending all ongoing titles and going with a brand new universe, or is this like 'Ultimate DC'?

'Cause Wizard did an 'Ultimate DC' what-if article some years ago, and the designs and backstories were pretty good.

AFAICT, its meant to be a brand new universe, and not Ultimate DC, but I'm really hoping it won't last to long, because of how much of it looks like the worst parts of the '90s, plus other garbage - much like Ultimate Marvel, if they'd cancelled the ongoing 616 universe.

Also, someone on SB.com found a list of probable and confirmed titles for the new universe. Some might not suck as bad as the rest, which is not saying much.

Also, something almost certainly not official, from the SB.com thread:

Gail Simone might not hate DC, but they have all of my own instead. And likely other readers. That... is not a good thing since comics only really have fans from the '90s and before.

Why should anybody buy their books now if they are just going to pull this kinda of shit?

Wasted my money on buying a series that was cancelled in the middle of it's run. Why should I buy anymore off shoot titles?

Hell if I buy the main ones like Detective Comcis and Batman comics I'll just get the older comics.

Thankfully, I've been slowly increasing my collection of Good DC animated universe series, so I'll just watch those until this thing blows over.

Note: Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is worth a rent/watch if just to see some awesome fight scene.

I haven't bought a comic from DC or anyone else in about 5 years. So I'd like to know was
this step necessary? Was everything broken to the point of a reset? What percent of
their books were failing to make this happen?

You want to know why DC comics is doing this?

Well...

The apologists on the DC forum seem to think that DC Comics must be on the verge of being shutdown by Warner Brothers if they don't find a way to stop their 'declining sales' or whatever.

And that this is pretty much a desperate last bid act to keep alive or some such nonsense. I don't have DC's sales figures so I don't know how they are doing.

They have less than thirty percent of the market, while Marvel has over forty five. Granted, that still places them at the number two slot.

I don't think this reboot will help them much. Alienating a good part of your existing fanbase rarely works out.

Yeah but comics are a niche market. Comic sales are eclipsed by movies, games, and other merchandise. I can understand why DC isn't trying to grab a bigger slice of pie, but instead make the pie bigger. They're really going all out on this including TV commercials for the reboot if the grapevine is accurate. As shitty as some of the comics may look, I still have to admire them from some level.
