Doctor Who

That trial was a farce. The council was corrupt and they needed someone to blame it on. So they created the Valeyard to convict the Doctor of their crimes.

I did not state they were in the *right* to do so... only that they in fact *did* do so.

Easter eps out, I wonder who's returning. God I hope it aint the Daleks again
I'm really really hoping it's the master...

Hey, who knows, maybe the Christina (Or is it Christine? Can't remember) from the Easter Special will be the new companion... Doubt it, but one can always hope... Heres hoping the new Doctor isn't an emo... *Shudders*

Edit: For the record... Tennant wanted out cause he wanted to remember having had fun being the Doctor, not it being 'a job'...
I heard that Steven Moffat (responsible for 'Blink", Library, 'Empty Child', 'Girl in the fireplace' and the new head honcho of the show) wants to introduce more new things, instead of re-using old ones (Cybermen, Daleks, etc) - something along the lines of "the new audience deserves its own villains", more or less.

I can't wait to see what Moffat will do.

And by the way - "On 29 May 2009, it was announced that Gillan will play the companion to the Eleventh Doctor (portrayed by Matt Smith) from 2010." Seen here. Also, form the same article - "Gillan was seen in the Doctor Who episode entitled "The Fires of Pompeii" playing a soothsayer." So maybe a companion from a different time period? Was there one before?

And on another unrelated note, after looking up pictures of the guy playing the 11th Doctor, I can't help but feel that this Doctor is going to be an absolute asshole.
If you wonder why I felt the need to find some images of him, just look at Smith's pic on the wiki.

Actually it was a different trial, the one that caused the Second Doctor to regenerate into the Third Doctor.

Well, there is already an official animated story arc with the 40th anniversary Scream of the Shalka

The Waters of Mars debuts in the UK tomorrow. Here's hoping that someone puts it on the net so we don't have to wait for the release over here.

Well, this is it. The end approaches. David Tennant's last Doctor Who episode is tomorrow. :blue:

Sad to see him go, but I understand why he wanted to get out without ruining his career for anything else. Hope Smith lives up to the role.

I wonder... How're they gonna explain it when Matt Smith leaves, and the Doctor gets onto his last Regeneration?

Pretty sure they are throwing that rule out

Or going a different route

Hmm, I forgot it was going to be a two-parter. The return of the Time Lords didn't do that much for me. Of course, I was never all that sad to see them gone in the first place. And I wonder what sort of rabbit they're going to pull regarding Wilfred. Now we just have to wait until New Years.

There's some speculation on the Wikipedia(The original not he fan wiki though its probably there too) that the 13 regeneration is not so much an inherent biological limit but more of a social one. There were some examples in the government of the Time Lords offered the Master more regeneration though that was when he was in a human body.

And with the Water of Mars episode, The Doctor realizes... he is the last, he answers to no one but himself. But... he knows his death draws near. All of his previous deaths, its been sudden. Too quick for him to have any emotional reaction. But this time he's been given a warning.

He will knock four times.

And now there is a Master-race...

It's going to be difficult to explain it 'not' being something hardwired into their bodies, as the Master wouldn't bother if there were rules or morals about not regenerating, but was barely alive. Plus, the fact that the Madwyn Undead story arch further established that it's a built in limit. Though the Council obviously has the means of recharging the ability. Probably something involving the Eye of Harmony.

Forgive me if I'm misremembering something But I vaguely remember somewhere that the Doctor at one point plugged himself into that super computer that stored all Time Lord Knowledge or something. Somewhere buried in his head probably IS the knowledge about how to remove the 13 regeneration limit.

The programme will return in 2010 with a fifth full series starring Matt Smith[15] as the Eleventh Doctor,[16] following David Tennant's announcement of his departure from the series.[17][18] Doctor Who Magazine reports that "The new series of Doctor Who will be produced and promoted as Series One".[19] For
Promoted as Series One? Perhaps with the apparant return of the Time Lords the Doctor gets "recharged"...

Might be Series One of the New Series.

Not a total restart...I don't think anyway

Sorry for interjecting, as I'm less than even a casual fan. But having just watched The End of Time; which with the Master and the Time Lords of Gallifrey I thought pretty impressive.

Anyway my question is: Who was the Time Lord meeting with Wilfred on the sly? They don't appear to identify her in the show, or I missed that part (which I will get back to). Did she appear in a previous show? Is the actress (whose name I couldn't catch in the credits) an old Doctor Who hand? Does anyone with a grounding in the canon have a theory about who she is?

And getting back to the previous part: having watched the end of The Waters of Mars and the complete The End of Time as well as previously The Planet of the Dead; is there some reason that during the climax of the story always there's vital dialogue (usually with critical plot exposition) being drowned out by sound effects? Is it a deliberate gimmick? I would like to know because its very fustrating!

But otherwise an excellent show that makes me wish I had the time to watch more Doctor Who.

I reckon she was a family member. Mother... something along those lines. Then again she could be an older version of Susan! Heh, that'd be cool. Cause last we heard, she had settled in the 22nd century and the Doctor thinks she and the rest of his family are dead or lost. It's a bit of a stretch but Susan could of gone back to Gallifrey to help with the war.

Wikipedia claims it's the Doctor's mother, though I don't recall where they said the info comes from. Possibly the credits.

Actually I was curious as well and I looked it up.

It might not be his mother but his former Wife

For those who know of the Doctor's past Specifically when he was The Other. Some people believe that the woman is Patience. The wife of The Other

The Other was one of the three founding members of the Time Lord Society

Ok I retract my previous statement

Davies confirmed that the woman was his mother. Which makes no sense she is supposed to be human but w/e

Well, if the movie with the 8th Doctor is canon, then it was established he was half-human.
