Miscellaneous ideas topic.
From something that I might be working on.
This idea has certain things changed before the Second Impact. Changes that might just make for an interesting setting.
Of course, that could be complete bollocks.
What do I know about storytelling?

"I know that you don't think too highly of Ikari, but I'd advise against antagonising him for the next few days, Naoko," Kozo Fuyutsuki said from behind his morning newspaper.
"And just what makes you think that I'm likely to antagonise him?" a woman with short, brown hair asked.
"Because I know you, Naoko," the grey-haired man answered. "Besides, every man has his limits. In case you didn't know, tomorrow would have been Yui's 35th birthday."
Naoko paused for a moment. She had known Yui Ikari before she'd married Gendo. What the brilliant young woman had seen in the man, she'd never know.
Gendo Rokubungi had a reputation for causing trouble, though this had stopped soon after Yui agreed to go out with him and when they got married, the man seemed to change completely. It was almost like the clichÚ that all he needed was the love of a good woman.
Things were fine until the day of Yui's accident when they were testing the Evangelion interface systems.
After Yui's death, Gendo Ikari underwent another personality shift. It broke him; changing him from the man who lived for his family to the cold-hearted bastard that he was today.
Some who knew about the tragedy of his wife's death speculated that he kept the family name of his wife to honour her memory, but since there was never an opportune moment to discuss such a thing with him it was mere speculation.
And that was the way he seemed to like it.
Any psychologist would have given their right arm to get the chance to study the man; but Gendo Ikari, would never give them the chance to probe his mental state.
It did beg the question as to why such a man was in charge of NERV, but the people who would ask such a question had never seen Gendo's impressive mental faculties at work. The man was like a sponge for absorbing details about people their foibles. He seemed to remember everything that was in a personnel file.
And not only that, his keen sense of observation did mean that he could pick up on body language as situations developed. This information was stored, processed and used to great effect.
Fuyutsuki had commented that Gendo Ikari knew how to get the best out of the people around him. Whether it was the technicians working on the Evangelions or the Section Two agents that maintained the security in NERV HQ, the Commander seemed to know what buttons to push, what carrot to offer and what stick to wield in order to get what he wanted done.
Naoko Akagi was beginning to wonder just what it was that Ikari wanted.
"Fine, have it your way, Kozo-chan," she said pouted before kissing her lover on the cheek. "I'll let Ikari mope in peace for a few days."
