Not sure what sparked this question, but are there any stories where Maya is a wild one and manages to have sex with all the pilots, Misato, and Akagi; maybe even all at the same time?
I keep enjoying how people portray Maya as this little blushing wallflower, but it makes me wonder what it would be like if -she- were replaced by someone with patience, persistence, suave, and seduction.
What sort of character could be used to replace her? I'm unfortunately not too familiar with very many female characters who have those sorts of skills.

There was a Tenchi fic with multi x-overs, that had Asuka & Rei as Jurai's answer to Noir. Now, theres a thought... Asuka & Rei as Noir - I like it.
Or, something where Shinji is raised as Seele's assassin, whose job is to take out anyone who might get to close to the truth about 2I. He gets sent in to do the piloting, but also to keep an eye on Gendo & Co. But he still keeps the whiny ass attitude. ... If someone could pull it off, anyway.

What if the world of NGE sported a good deal of retired superheroes? And With Sachiel atacking they all pull on their costumes again and come out of he woodwork, the last time being second impact running damage control.
So when the Third Angel appears and begins making its way to tokyo 3, certain mothers pull out transforation items, sentai teams reassemble, toketsu heroes pull out nearly forgotten belts/wristwatches/henshin items, cyborg/robotic heroes are reawakened. And then the mecha start gattai sequences.
Anyway it was just a thought (Dangerous and thread killing, I know.)

Inspired partly by the imprint idea in the Naruto section and is somewhat crackish but anyway what if at some point perhaps a month or two before he's called too Tokyo-3 Shinji suffers from a breakdown and ends imprinting on to a certain manga series... Berserk and the main character of it Guts.
To make matters worse, him being called to Tokyo-3 only helps to strengthen his delusions as the angels are obviously apostles, Gendo as Griffith, and NERV in the place of the Band of Hawks.
Now if only if he could find somebody to make a Dragonslayer sized sword for his Evangelion and he'd be happy.

How about Shinji as the reincarnation of another mecha pilot.
Throughout his life he has a slow trickle of memories and skills trickling into his head that he doesn't understand in his dreams. His meeting with the Evangelion brings them in faster, slowly removing the mental barriers that separate his previous life with his current one.
Imagine if that previous pilot was Heero Yuy...
As he pieces togather the memories some of the skills slip through, starting with computer skills that allow him to "cheat" at the stock market mainly as a game.
Once Shinji ends up in Tokyo 3, memories of his Gundam start to surface including those of the plans he'd been forced to pemorize perfectly so that he could repair it and make parts.
Then after the Jet Alone incident, he arranges for a proxy of his to acquire the company as it collapses and have their team secretly begin work on building him an Eva sized version of Wing Zero with some serious firepower and armor upgrades along with the size increase.
Cue the incident where Shinji quits and is about to leave town, he heads for the facility with the newly complete version of his Gundam...

For another thought is that Shinji has some knowledge of the Positron Rifle and that seemed to be capable of piercing the AT field and adding its tech to that of the Buster Rifle would be lethal. Also the head vulcans could be modified to work similarly to the Pallet Rifles.
With the size increase to bring the ZERO up to EVA size, the firepower could be significantly increased as well.
Gendo may not be capable of utilizing Unit 01 without Shinji and could make things interesting with Shinji keeping the fact that he's now piloting a Gundam hidden after pulling a disappearing act. He may even decide to have the ZERO equipped with a variant of Deathscythes stealth/cloaking systems to be able to arrive and vanish as he wishes to keep that secret.
Hell, the ZERO system may be able to match the Magi in combat use and planning, and to top it off Shinji would know how those NERV uses think as well as the capabilities of the Evangelions while they wouldn't have a clue.
It's also possible that he could know enough to create a version of the Mobile Dolls at some point, though it would be doubtful. However, it could lead to a gag or two. Imagine if he decided to have the AI's use Asuka's voice as a joke after her constant terming of Rei as Gendo's doll.
The first confrontation between Zero and Units 00 and 02 could be an interesting setup, perhaps right after they see a beam saber pierce through the back of one of the Angels and it comes into view as the angel falls.

The Pallet Rifles have potential, they just aren't powerful enough normally. Imagine them with explosive tips or the like. The thing is that none of the Eva weaponry seemed to be designed from a soldiers viewpoint and are just scaled up weapons. Plus with ammunition for a weapon that big you could conceivably do a whole lot more in what you load it with.
