FanFiction.NET issues

Just received an email from their blog that they're working on it and it should be fixed within two hours.
First time I've ever known them to announce a fix in progress. I don't mind so much when they do that. It was the endless silence of being kept in the dark that annoyed me most with previous problems.

Blinks... seems to be up... I can get to several stories and random categories, and one personal profile page I've attempted so far, and the feeds are updating again.
I was able to get into both the Fate Stay Night normal stories category, and the Fate Stay Night crossover stories category, and see stories there in both... not anything updated I want to read mind you, but updated stories.

FYI: Further update... noticed that while it is true that the feed system is back up, it is further behind the site than is the norm... normally the feeds update at almost the same speed as the site, sometimes faster, but that has not been the case today... there is a fairly large lag, but I'm uncertain exactly how much of one it is... a couple hours at a guess though.

And I was only using it half an hour or an hour ago. Now the servers down. I haven't got the app but presumably its content is stored separately.

Just checked it again site still down for my desktop but the app on my phone works fine.
Just to double check it wasn't cached stuff, I went to the *shudder* HP section and yep it still works.
So with that unless they cache the entire site somewhere else for the app, which I seriously doubt.
This is a deliberate act by FF.net for some strange reason.
I'm going to keep checking from now on.

Hmmm... RSS/ATOM feeds are down as well.
The mobile site seems down for me from a regular browser... not sure if the app goes through normal channels though.
Ether way, whether app works or not, I'm doubtful anyone can upload, as the feed system is integral to that, generally if it is down, no on can upload.
Fortunately, I checked everything around 3:00am, and downloaded a few items... so I'm fine for the day.

Anyone else notice a odd downturn in stories being updated? Ask as I'm used to checking the feeds and even 20 minutes apart am used to seeing a minimum number of updated feeds and entries.
However, the last several hours I'm seeing updates, but way less than normal.
I suppose it could merely be a momentary slump, but it seems odd to me.

Yes, many have reported this problem in fanfiction.net's help desk forum - myself included. It's a recurring problem to do with the buffering of data. From time to time it gets held back but should appear eventually. I assume it's intended to protect data when there's an overload but looks like it gets hung up far too long. Unfortunately, their admin can't or won't fix the problem permanently nor do they keep anyone informed so expect a repeat of this bug every few months.
Anyone else with problem uploading files?
Tried a new file. Error. Tried an already uploaded file with no changes since then. Same error.

Error Message: You have uploaded a file ending in .docx but this file does not appears to be in the correct format: msword. Please make sure you have the correct file extension for the file.
