Had another idea earlier.
What if instead of the Tactical Operations officer, Misato was a fixer for Section Two?
There would be other changes in NERV, possibly involving Asuka and Kaji being there earlier or other crazy stuff.
Or maybe not.
Maybe it's rather dark with Misato not caring who she kills.
I don't know these days.

Been thinking about this last idea - Misato has a different role in NERV.
I might have something for it soon, but I promise nothing, especially since I need to decide what other changes have happened.
Potential changes include Kaji being the Tactical Officer and Asuka and Unit-02 having been brought in earlier.
Does anyone have any thoughts about this?

Could work, but it depends on what Misato's role would be.
What if, due to her exposure to Second Impact, she could somehow also pilot an Evangelion?
Cue nearly the entire male staff of NERV having nosebleeds when she gets into her plugsuit. :evil2:
It gives Shinji a co-pilot who isn't totally anti-social or abusive.

She helps Section Two with their less savoury operations. Things like interrogation, ensuring that the wrong questions aren't asked.
Occasionally silencing people forever.
That sort of thing.
That's a fic that I would like to read.
Though when would they discover this fact? Maybe if Shinji said something like "If you think you can do better, why don't you pilot it?" during part of his training?

The teenaged girlÆs eyelids became heavy and she started to feel the energy drain from her body. ôSo tiredàö
She sank to her knees; even breathing was becoming a chore for her. She coughed and spat out some bloody phlegm.
æIÆm done for,Æ she thought, not having the strength to vocalise her thoughts.
As MisatoÆs head drooped down, a foghorn sounded. She could barely lift her head to check if she was hallucinating or if there was genuinely a frigate approaching her capsule.

You mean that guy from Animaniacs, Hello Nice Warners? That'd be completely cracktastic. You would have to give him at least a couple serious scenes where he actually makes sense without being demented, though.

Shinji Ikari, raised by Slappy Squirrel. Classic cartoon comedy Shinji Ikari. Eva Unit 01 yanking bombs out from behind it's back, assuming disguises at will, causing the other Evas and Angels to break out into musical numbers.

I've a few ideas. But I've got one especially that won't go away after watching various old shows when I was sick for the past few days. Here's a little something that my brain came up with:

"Ikari Shinji: Wimp, Evangelion pilot. Searching for a way to be less of a pussy. Then an accident during the Jet Alone incident exposes his body to an accidental overdose of Gamma radiation that alters his body chemistry."
Lightning flashes.
"And now when Ikari Shinji grows angry or outraged, a startling metamorphosis occurs."
A sound of a roaring monster is followed by more lightning.
"The creature is driven by rage, and pursued by an agency that works to save the world."

Shinji looked up at the angel that had almost caused his cello to break during its rampage. The boy had a panicked look on his face.
"You're making me angry. Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

More lightning flashes.
"The creature is wanted because his father is a total dick. Ikari Shinjiis believed to be dead. And he must let the world think that he is dead, until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him."
Dramatic sound effects play as half of the picture of Shinji on the large monitor is replaced by a half poorly photoshopped image of a green and angry Shinji that exactly matched up with the replaced part. The words 'The Incredible Shinji' appears in the center of the screen.
The room's lights turn back on as the screen as Asuka smiles and looks at the NERV staff assembled.
"So, what do you think?"
Misato buried her face in her hands. 'Why couldn't she be normal?'
Ritsuko sighed as she restored the room back to its normal functions, immeditaely thereafter the Angel Alarms came on.
"I think you wasted valuable time with this stupid powerpoint."
Asuka's eyes widened. Why wasn't anyone believing her?
"But it's true!"
Misato patted Asuka on the back lightly.
"Sure it is. Just like Santa, Cupid, and the Easter Bunny exist."
Asuka's smiled cheerfully. Finally, a sane person!
"I knew you were sane Misato. I kept on trying to tell people the truth, but they wouldn't believe me!"
Misato pointed at a random nameless NERV minion.
"You! Get me a beer. Now."
The employee shook his head.
"Al-Alcohol isn't allowed here..."
Misato's eyes narrowed at the man as he saw Death wave at him cheerfully.
"Yes sir!"
Without a minute to waste, the employee ran out, a small yellowish puddle remained where he once stood.
"We have visual of the target! Pattern blue confirmed!"
Everyone watched ]in mute shock as the ninth Angel, Matariel was being beaten into a pulp by a much smaller green humanoid. The audio they were recieving not helping in the slightest.
"SHINJI SMASH!"
At long last, the silence was broken as Asuka broke out laughing.
"I was right! In all of your faces!"
Everyone grit their teeth as the Second child's laughter grated on their nerves until a large 'clang' sounded out and the girl fell down, unconscious. Everyone's eyes widened at the cause of the newfound blissful silence: Ayanami Rei, who held a slightly bent metal pipe.
"Rei."
The First Child in question looked at the head of NERV: Ikari Gendo. The man smiled slightly at the girl.
"Good job."
The girl tersely nodded until an explosion on the screen gained everyone's attention. The ninth angel had exploded and the blue pattern dissapeared from the systems. Out of the smoke came a battered and tired Shinji, who promptly collapsed. Ritsuko looked at Gendo.
"Sir, what do we do now?"
The man steeped his hands and looked down at the crew.
"We market. I want blueprints for toys and merchandise and copyrights for anything and everything that could relate to this. Also, edit the video that the Second Child made so that it is more presentable."
While Gendo was a bastard, he was a smart bastard. He didn't care about exploiting his son for profit, after all the boy was only helping NERV acquire much needed funding so that his scenario would eventually bear fruit.
Not to mention, Shinji would be benefitted as well. After all, the ladies loved superheroes and celebrities.

In an unknown location, three figures plotted. It appears that everything was going to plan. Behind steepled hands Santa smiled at his associates. Yes, he'd get that bastard Gendo back for causing the destruction of his nice Arctic home.

Yes, I can definately say I'm insane.

The rotors of the landed helicopter blew up considerable turbulence, and Toji's hat was quickly blown off his head.
"HEY! COME BACK!" Toji shouted uselessly at the cap, and chased after it as fast as he could. He'd bought it to impress Misato! What kind of a man would he be if he lost it?!
The hat stopped at last, and Toji reached to pick it up. He stood up and sighed, pulling the hat back on. He turned around... Only to squeal like a little girl at the sudden appearance of a teenaged girl with long red hair and a yellow sundress.
"GYAAH!"
"Hello!" Asuka said brightly. "I'm Asuka Langley Soryu! Who are you?"
"Uh, Toji..." The jock smiled. Hey, a cute girl on this trip? This is looking better and better!
"Nice to meet you!" Asuka said cheerfully. "Are you the Third Child?"
"Uh, no," Toji said. He pointed over Asuka's shoulder. "That would be him."
Asuka slowly turned around and stared at Misato and Shinji, the Third Child smiling nervously. Behind them, Kensuke was energetically filming everything.
"Hello Asuka! You've grown a lot!" Misato greeted. Asuka blinked and slowly tilted her head. Her eyes focused on an area just above Misato's shoulder, which the NERV tactical ops officer followed, frowning.
"You know, I think I have... Mmhm, I'm bigger," Asuka said vaguely. She wandered over to Shinji and smiled.
"You've grown too, right? Since I last saw you?"
"Since we last met...?" Shinji asked vaguely.
"We've met before? When! I want to know and-Ooh! A seagull! This far out? Wow!" Asuka chirped happily. The white bird arched over the flight deck, and Asuka happily ran after it. Shinji's eyes widened as he saw she was headed right for the edge of the deck, and ran after her.
"H-HEY! WAIT!"
Asuka giggled, reaching for the bird one step too far. Her eyes widened as though she was completely surprised to be on the edge of the flight deck.
"W-W-WOAH-!"
Shinji yanked the redheaded girl back on deck, both falling down. Shinji panted hard, before realizing Asuka was sitting on his lap. He blushed bright red and scooted away.
"Uh, S-Sorry! I mean-!"
"Awww," Asuka sighed. "The bird got away! Kind of like a cloud... Hey, what do you think?"
"... About?" Shinji hazarded. Asuka frowned.
"About clouds. Do you think birds fly through them and don't have any problems?"
"Uh... I... Guess?" Shinji answered, as Misato and Kensuke helped them up to their feet. Asuka blinked, eyes once more staring somewhere over Shinji's shoulder.
"Because clouds are very cold and wet. Do you think the birds would freeze? I mean, all they've got is their feathers..."
"Uh, Asuka, why don't we go inside so I can make my report to the Admiral?" Misato suggested, smiling nervously. Asuka didn't notice and just beamed.
"Sure! Maybe he knows something about birds and clouds, seeing that he's an admiral and all..."
"Toji, Kensuke, go with her? I'll be along soon," Misato ordered. The two boys, only too happy to escort a cute girl at the command of Shinji's sexy guardian, led the babbling Asuka towards the island. She sighed, and looked over at Shinji, who was staring in disbelief at her.
"... That's the Second Child?"
"Yes. Yes she is," Misato sighed.
