i have to disagree

as far as I'm concerned Marche was the only one of the real world characters with any damn sense.

i admit it has been a few years since i played the game but here is how i see it

all the other real world characters were just trying to escape their problems. yeah they all got bum deals (especially Doned ) and yeah what ever problem that was plaguing the m in the real world were gone. but how long would it be before some equal or greater problem came about for all of them, and this time they wouldn't have some fantasy world to escape into what they were doing is akin to somebody losing themselves completely in video games, manga, etc and just as pathetic

as far as i am concerned marche is a damn hero

I'd like to point out that Ritz was so happy she could fit in with her hair she didn't hesitate to EMBRACE A LIFE OF FIGHTING AND CONSTANT RISK OF DEATH along with the Viera merc Shara.

All she wanted was to fit in. She didn't care about anything else, and was willing to fight for the right to continue the new life, even to the death if need be.

When you desire something to the point you STAKE YOUR LIFE on it, you aren't just 'running from reality'. You actually want that very hard, and won't let anything get in your way for it.

Escapism isn't this aggressive. Escapism by definition is passive.

In fact, please note all of Marche's friends were willing to employ lethal force to stop him. That's how badly they wanted to keep going with their new lives. Badly enough that they'd fight for it. It was a chance to start over for them, and Marche essentially *robbed* them of it because he thought his way was the only right way.

Umm, actually the fighting is just a game to these people most of the time.

The entire premise of the game is rather simple, is it RIGHT to live in fantasy? Or is it more important to live in reality. If you look at the ending you see everyone learning to deal with their problems. Ultimately the way I saw the lesson was rather simple. It was a beautiful lie where war was simply another game, but it was a LIE.

Marche was selfish yes, but he was also right.

^^^ This. Fuck Marche, if i was a parapalegic and this dumb kid forced me from a world: not an illusion, a world: where i could walk again, as soon as i'd get back i'd choke him to death with one of my broken legs or hire a sniper.

Hah. Souffle, your post doesn't work very well since you were ninja'd by Lost Star. I'll agree with you on Doned yes, but I think Ritz was way out of line. Possibly Mewt as well, but I have a bit more sympathy for him as he managed to get his mom back from the dead. Still, Mewt seriously needed to man up in that game.

i felt sorry for doned but that still didn't change the fact that he and the others were completely wrong.

Dumbledore once talked of doing what is right and doing what is easy. and their attempt to stay in that false world falls firmly in the latter

Because we all know that wishing for a life that doesn't suck is the wrong thing.

Moreover, Dumbledore was an asshole who used a CHILD to do HIS dirty job and fix HIS mistakes, prophecy be damned. I'd just as soon castrate myself with a rusty spoon than consider any of the stuff he says more than an attempt to justify his own selfishness.

I might be wrong, but I thought the world changed, rather than being covered in illusion.

Unless the whole game took place while every single living person was passed out on the ground and dreaming about it comunaly, then it was real.

Different from what they had before, but real.

Unless they were all some sort of mary sue nockoffs, then it was less about escaping, and more about having a life that was exiting, not perfect.

So yeah, unless it was all some sort of VR type thing, you can't say they were wrong to prefer it.

Of course even then, It's their choice which life they want to live.

what in heck is easy about being a mercenary or being picked on in school over shit you can't control or being unable to walk because it's not your fault?

No, Marche was the only one that thought he was right because he's the only one that seemed to have a fine time back in the 'real world'.

The rest of them wished for better lives, and beyond all reason and all doubt and all reality, actually got that wish. Then marche is just 'lol oh no you don't' and comes and snatches it away.

Marche is Douche #1 because of it.

My post was directly at lost star.

Riddle me this.

Say you got pulled into another WORLD. Where things weren't easy but you didn't have to be emo anymore, and everything that was out of your control that was a cause of immense grief to you was no longer a problem.

If this world was real, would you stay?
If this world was an illusion, would you stay?

Marche would have been right.. if it was the latter. No, the world was very very real, and he very, very much fucked everyone else over because 'lol no you don't get to have a wonderful life back to the shit world with you because i liked it better'.

I'm only going by memory, but didn't the ending show random monsters turning back into people as well? While the main characters might have gotten a good deal out of the altered Ivalice it seems like a lot of the other inhabitants got a rather shitty deal as Goblin no.9, etc.

That can easily be taken as a 'this is one world and this is another' deal because no one else at all seemed to remember being in ivalice.

I doubt that's going to happen very soon, unfortunately...they're really not on the best of terms, are they?

Well, since they've re-released most of the older Final Fantasies on the GBA and DS, released Crystal Chronicles for Gamecube and DS, and just came out with TWEWY on DS, I GUESS they're okay with them...

Super Mario World custom level
Some notes about this.

This took 6 months to make. Just the level.

The original song, with vocals, is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th1oR8yeBh8

Done apparently with fifteen? or so Hatsune Mikus with different pitches, i guess.

Song is widely accepted as the nico nico theme song. Since it has most of every meme ever that's spawned from there.
