Not sure if this goes here or somewhere else but Neogaf is selfdesctructing now that it's creator was accused of sexual harassment

I'd embed it but for some reason I can't access the full editor.

Given how much they were railing against it in the news from naughty dog, Hollywood, etc it's not surprising the userbase would go after evillore for it. When the mods exited, the legions of alt accounts started the mother of all shitposting, and the site appears to be offline for now.

And it's back, though it appears they nuked the off topic tabs in their entirety.

Probably too late though. So long as evilore is at the helm, the community won't respect the site, and it's opponents have all the ammunition they need.

Back to watching speedruns I suppose.

Polygon's EIC deleted his own BOTW save like a fuckwit and is throwing a hissy fit about it.

Apparently he's removed BOTW from any GOTY/award running because allowing you to overwrite your own save is apparently 'delinquency.'

He's getting fucking destroyed in the press.

Rightfully so.

The dumbass still has his save, he started a new game in master mode and thought that meant he deleted his save.

He's also still trying to blame Nintendo and is now raging about the lack of OS/block/level backups on the switch. And that deleting a save is 'so easy' and that it should apparently required holding a button for 15 seconds.

Dumbass.

I'll always be happy that sony lets you back up saves to USB or to the cloud (with ps+). Have not nuked a save yet, but I have used those features to take them to a friends house.

I'm confused... Is it all Switch games only allow one save file per game, or can you have multiple save files for different runs (like the all the Zelda games up through Ocarina)?

Maybe the lack of sleeps getting to me, but the way this is written makes me think that you can only have ONE save point/saved game per usb/memory card, that you constantly have to overwrite.

You have multiple profiles on the switch. Each profile can have 1+ saves per game.

BOTW is two saves per profile, standard and master quest. (not counting all the autosaves it keeps)

BotW works this way on Wii U as well.

Looks like Gaf was indeed reborn under new management, as a forum called ResetEra. A look at the mods/admins shows a lot of familar faces from the mod crew and community pages.

Seems to be invite only while they get set up, best shot is apparently to be well known enough in a community thread to get the leaders to pass you an invite. Public registration will come once everything is properly up and running.

Apparently they founded this one as an LLC, preventing any one person from having total control. Also means they could vote that person out if any evilore style stuff comes to light. A smart move, over all.

AMD shows off it's first Raven Ridge APU's. My money is on the idea that this architecture will power the next xbox/ps4 systems, with some custom tweaks on both.

Is this the one where the chipset has both, a CPU and GPU on the same silicon chip?

I've been wanting to build a Rizen gaming box for some time now, but just don't have the funds. This .. might be worth considering as a stop-gap solution, I think.

Don't waste your money. APUs are terrible for gaming.

They are fine for an internet box, laptop, or business PC, but you don't want one if you're building a PC with the primary purpose of gaming.

Temps are harder to keep under control, and they aren't optimized for the kind of performance you need for a gaming rig.

APUs are designed to save space, not to have the best performance. They tend to have shorter shelf lives than independent GPUs and CPUs because they get hotter faster because the GPU and CPU, the two biggest heat generating components of a computer, are crammed together into one chipset.

You'll be much better off with an independent CPU and GPU for a gaming rig.

Really depends on the expected usage. The new APU's look good for say, someone who plays facebook tier games and wants to run general media. Granted, they are faster then whats in a ps4/xbox one, so you may be able to get away with some MOBA stuff this time around as well, as well as hearthstone and the like.

Anythign more then that, if you want a better experience, you are going to need a dedicated GPU and CPU.

I'm looking at a ryzen rig myself, granted with a kid it's hard to find the cash. my 290x still chugs along fine with what I play. Doesn't help that the 580x series is so overpriced due to coin mining these days.

Seriously....all this characterization, plot, and lore....is wasted on PVP game...do SOMETHING else with it all!

Seriously. If nothing else, add short single-player training missions based on these animated shorts that teach players the basics of how to fight with that particular character before they jump into the PVP. Playing as the young Reinhart to fight off invading omnics while protecting the normal soldiers would be awesome.

Overwatch was originally an MMO- it's what's left of Titan.

That's where all the lore is coming from.

I work with some folks who actually worked on Titan. They have interesting things to say about blizzard overall, but are pretty tightlipped on a lot of stuff for titan. I suppose even now a lot is covered by NDA's and such for that particular game.
