Basic premise is that it's a significantly better version of "The Wizard From Earth" by Morta's Priest, focused less on the path taken, and more on slice of life stories.
For those that aren't familiar, the premise of The Wizard From Earth is that Harry is tossed back into the past, around Egypt's height, is immortal, and has to basically wait out the 5000 years to get back to his buddies.
The premise of A Long Journey Home is that fem!Harry is struggling with ennui after winning the war, shows a slight interest in tagging along with Bill on a tomb-raid, and immediately gets roped into it. While in a tomb, she, Hermione and Ron get trapped away from Bill, and Ron accidentally lets out a... golden snitch? Which didn't exist in ancient egpyt. Fem!Harry grabs it out of reflex, and it sends her back in time.
Turns out it was an intentionally laid trap. The creator of the tomb, Wadjet, came and set up Jasmine to send her back. Why? Well, Wadjet was essentially the basis of all magical renneisance, as well as a few other important things. Turns out Wadjet is also Morgana. Hmm. Long lived immortal witch from Egyptian times? Why does this sound familiar?
The slices of life are amazing, also. To put into perspective just how well this story is written, I'm a rabid Ron/Hermione hater, and I actually like the RHr ship in this story. That's how good it is.
It's probably my favorite Harry Potter story, tbh.
