Ep 9:

Zaheer-still best villain. And awesome.
Bolin-Another romance sunk because of his poor decision making. Anyone else sensing a pattern?
Korra-she's getting better. And that's awesome.

PS- Zaheer wanting to stop Kuvira. Holy crap it makes obvious sense.
Kuvira: Power hungry dictator.
Zaheer: One true self-proclaimed Anarchist.

Only one conclusion.
...I did not expect that gif but I accept it. It is the one true way.

Why do you find Opal annoying? Her entire family, minus her aunt and grandmother, got kidnapped by a crazy woman bent on conquering a nation.

primarily it spawns from the impression i got from her during the first ep when her and bolin were arguing about kuvira. her entire attitude screamed to me
' your my boyfriend so agree with me and my mothers opinions" and remember at that time all there were were rumors and to that point kuvira seemed to be doing exactly what she had been assigned to do . from my pov she is acting butthurt because bolin didnt instantly side with her.

next on my list off annoyances is her and lins attempts to use korra as a weapon during the events in zao fu. for people who rejected the idea of their family reuniting the earth kingdom neither of them seems to have a problem with the use of a metaphorical tactical nuke (and in lins case assassinating somebody in their sleep)

honestly in the whole mess that is the current events the only people largely involved are the krew varrik and izumi (who in my view is the only world leader present during the conference with their head on straight.)

For all the shady shit Kuvira is pulling it is still an internal earth kingdom/empire matter raiko and the others have little leg to stand on (raiko was fine with not getting involved in the water tribe civil war but is acting affronted that the person in charge of the earth kingdom isnt his puppet (which is all wu was really going to be)

We apparently have differeing views on Opal's actions. Being an Airbender and with her own mother living in the Kingdom I'm guessing she'd seen and heard about such things like the re-education camps from a reliable source. Her mistake was assuming Bolin knew about the true nature of the camps and was aware of things she'd seen.

Opal wanted to save her home and eventually her family from what was a hostile army on their door step. Korra was her only hope to do just that. However, Opal deferred to Korra's judgment unlike Lin, who attacked without waiting for Korra's return. So Opal should not be lumped into the Dog house with Lin, in my opinion.

Question: What do people here think would have happened if Suyin had chosen to help restore order to the Earth Kingdom? Was she right when she claimed that marching an army down to Ba Sing Se would be met with nothing but war? Would she have actually needed to march an army down, or would her Beifong name have been sufficient to win the loyalty of people who may or may not have been clamouring for leadership and guidance?

It'd be half and half in my opinion.

Having 1 on the kids of Roph would be a great attention getter for support, right? Pretty much everyone in the Earth Kingdom loves Toph right?

Plus Su managed to make a great place out of Zao Fu so why couldn't she offer some consulting for rebuilding? I figure running 1 city was enough. A kingdom would get someone to throw themselves out a window (unless they were like the Earth Queen).

Also I think no one really wants to get involved with Ba Sing Se (Or just not deal with the EQ). It's probably a crappy political nightmare...which is weird since the fire nation has (for all we know) got better but that's probably from Zuko's influence. But when she was gone, there was research done to see how the Ba Sing Se was run right? How the poor people are treated and how bats$%t insane the EQ was right?

If that was the case, why let any of her relatives be placed in a ruler position? The prince was pretty obvious as a poor ruler.

Maybe it was a political play? Have someone Republic City Council knew they could trust to manage the prince and get things together?

Operation Bei Fong

Good stuff, excellent fights and Toph exits stage right.

To be fair she likely is getting to old for this crap, and a one-on-one fight with Kuvira at her A game could turn into a battle of attrition, and Kuvira could play the waiting game like Zaheer did in his fight with Korra at the end of season 3.

The Prince finally did something right....for the wrong reasons but his idea was solid.

I understand the spirits stance on war but....I was seriously close to 'What's the point of you?' territory towards the end of that conversations. Look we're not asking you to attack other people, just help us defend the city which contains the spirit wilds which are YOUR home. Heck, help us Evac civilians and we'll call it even, could you do that?

The spirits are a bunch of useless dicks.

Seriously. They take over a bunch of houses, spread their vines, and basically make themselves at home screw what everyone else wanted and they just leave at the first sign of trouble?

This is why the Avatar always sides with humans in the end.

I am really glad I am not the only one to have that reaction. Perhaps next time we should point out that if Kuvira can drain spirit vines, what' to stop her from using those Spirits as a fuel source for her new Empire?

All right, some awesome gifs before I go:

Good episode all around. Great action, great developments.

But yeah, to hell with the spirits.

Bolin savin Zhu Lin. That's bro material right there.

Toph has declared it. Kuvira is bad for Metalbending.

This was just good.

Except...

we seriously need some sort of hashtag or collective thing for the spirits. Cause seriously f$#k those guys. Buncha lazy good for nothings.

In both the comics and the show, they aren't good for anything. Except Rava and an exception had to be made for that. And the Lion turtles but only because they're never around to be jerks.

Preview clip Kuvira's Gambit

Well we knew she was coming for Republic city eventually.

My only question is whether or not she honestly plans to marry her beau or is she just using him to gain power....something in her expression makes me think she's planning to betray him....but I couldn't tell you why....
