And now we've got people making threads with (presumably) illegal download links. I've removed the links from this thread,

I don't hang around the 'Movie Talk' forum myself and am going to assume that it should be alright to leave the thread unlocked. So folks have a place to discuss the movie in question. Please correct me if I am in error.

The ... Movie download issue is going out of control. Thinking it was an honest (abiet: illegal) mistake, I just issued a warning to the original poster. Now we've got someone else making a lot of similar threads in the Movie section.

I've decided to invoke my authoritative powers and ban the "new" movie "sharer" for a week. I highly suspect its the same person. For a temporary period of time, I've moved ALL the 'offending' threads to our "Discussion" subsection. Why? Before deleting the stuff, the admins need to be given a chance to conduct an IP investigation on the culprit (will PM them on this soon enough).

This 'new' poster has NOT been issued a warning via PM. I have per-maturely banned him/her for a week. If anyone believes that I over-stepped my authority, feel free to PM me and I will attempt to explain myself (short version: I was exhausted after a long day and got irritated on seeing the EXACT SAME REPORT(S)) .

EDIT: After talking with GH, I've decided to delete most of the threads except 2 or 3. They will be cleared out as soon as we can identify this ... character.

I advocate mass-deleting all but two or three of the threads. Those are highly illegal links in them, and having this many for ANY prolonged amount of time on the board is very dangerous from a legal standpoint.

Keep a couple so Wata can track down and IP-ban the moron.

Whoa, I'm surprised I missed this. Sorry for being away, work happened (at long last).

I checked up on the people doing it, and shockingly the IP addresses were all unique. In fact, even the registration and post IDs were unique. No one else has used those IPs, but I'm just going to delete the last three posts and the users, while NOT banning the IPs. If this kind of thing winds up happening again, we'll compare them, and ban them if necessary.

EDIT: As of this edit, users thangluyen and dirutyep have been invited to leave TFF, their IPs have been added to a list that I've made available to the mod team, and the last threads have been deleted. Thank you everyone who alerted us to the issue.

A "recommendation" thread was started in the Original fic sub-forum accidentally. One already existed. OP realized his mistake and requested for its deletion. Done.

A user reported a thread by Wholockian16 advertising a fanfiction forum for Doctor Who and Sherlock, and doing so by asking interested posters to email him.

I welcome Wholockian16 to publicly advertise his new forum in his signature and to create threads for the discussion of Sherlock and Doctor Who to increase interest in and visibility of those fandoms on the board, but suggest that he do so in a safe and not suspicious manner. In the meantime he's been warned against this behavior, the warning will last for two months.

The thread has been deleted.

Removed a really dubious link to what appears to be a pyramid scheme. The person who linked it was unaffected due to him actually voicing his concerns on this - he suspected it was too good to be true, and was right.

On request a thread made by ArchfiendRai (OP) has been deleted from the general section.

OP was making a thesis for his English class and wanted sources. Not much discussion came from the thread and this moderator sees no reason to deny OP's request.

At 10:10 I renamed the "FYM Hot sauce." thread in the General section to "General Kickstarters".

Follow-up: At 2:28 I merged Kerrus's "Butterfly in the Sky" thread in the General section with "General Kickstarters". My apologies for the latent hypocrisy.

Public Apology: Looks like things got screwed up. At first I merged the two threads. Result was that the post order wasn't right. OP asked if I could fix that and I attempted to merge the offending posts into the first post. THAT resulted in the post character limit being reached and instead of warning me, the forum decides to just cut it off. Leaving me with no way to recover the post!

I'm ... not really sure HOW to rectify the situation.. :unsure!:
