After dozens upon dozens of loops, the Senshi were all fully aware of who each other was and where they would be at the start of the loop. So after Minako had arrived in town and Hotaru had received her regularly scheduled exorcism to remove Mistress 9 from the current iteration, they gathered at the Hikawa Shrine. Since Negi was fully aware of who they all were, he was invited as well.
It was the first time in the loop that Negi had met the moon cats, and they had recognized him immediately, although not as the son of the Thousand Master and the last Queen of Ostia. They recognized him as the person he had become after the loop had rewritten history to explain his existence.
"I didn't know that Prince Neigai had been sent forward." Luna said.
"Who was Prince Neigai?" Rei asked.
"He was your brother back in the Silver Millennium."
The Senshi all looked at Negi, who had just officially become one of their small group.
"So..." Makoto asked, looking at the handsome young man who was normally just a small boy, "Did Neigai have a girlfriend?"
"Well, there were a lot of girls that were interested in him," Artemis began, as Negi started quietly praying that none of those girls were in the room with him, "Between his position, his looks, and the fact that he was genuinely likable, he was considered quite a catch."
"Three of the Senshi were among those seeking his hand, and the question of which one his parents would choose as the most suitable was a frequent topic of speculation in the court." Luna added, as Negi silently cursed his fate.
The Senshi exchanged looks as they wondered which one of them was engaged to the young mage.
"The first Senshi that was considered as a possible bride for Neigai was Venus." Luna continued, as Minako smiled naughtily at Negi. "The royal families of Venus and Mars were on very good terms, and thought that marrying their children together would further cement the alliance, both between their houses and between the civilian infrastructure on Venus and the military industries on Mars."
"The next one to be considered was Saturn," Artemis commented. Hotaru looked shyly at the boy who was normally closer to her own age. "Neigai had been one of Saturn's only childhood friends, and some people in the court of Mars thought that anything that, forgive me Hotaru, that would make the most dangerous and unstable of the Senshi happy and unlikely to blow up someone's planet was a good thing. It would have also gained Mars access to the vast untapped mineral resources on Saturn's moons."
"And the final one was Mercury. She and Neigai ended up going to the same college. They became partners on their senior project to create one of the most impressive pieces of research in the history of the university. Since they had become such good friends, it was suggested that marrying them together would help ease the tensions that had arisen between the planets of Fire and Ice."
"Not to mention the fact that everyone was certain they were already in a relationship." Artemis pointed out. "While working on that project, they had research and experimentation sessions together two or three times a week for the whole year. Those meetings generally lasted all night. Half the court was convinced that their activities during those sessions weren't entirely academic once they learned about them."
The rest of the Senshi turned to look at Ami, who had turned bright red at the implications of that revelation. At the same time, a little voice in her mind suggested that she check the Mercury computer to see if any records from that project - and the associated alleged romance - were in there.
"So which one of us ended up with Neigai?" Minako asked.
"I don't know," Luna answered. "All three of you, or at least your families, thought you would be a good match and tried to arrange a match with Neigai's parents. Opinion within the court, both on Mars and on the Moon, was fairly equally divided as to who was the best match. Neigai's family refused to state who they favored for the match until they had made their final decision.
I never learned what that decision was. They eventually told the Queen that they had made a decision, but they didn't tell anyone what that decision was, with the possible exception of Neigai himself, before the date of the official announcement. Even his own sister didn't know - I asked. The announcement was going to have been made on the night that Beryl attacked."
This was even worse than Negi thought it would be. He wasn't engaged to one of the girls, he was pseudo-engaged to three of them, each of whom would be trying to encourage him to 'remember' that he had decided to marry her. He wished Ranma was here. He had experience in dealing with this kind of thing, and he really needed to consult an expert in messes like this.
The fact that Ranma's presence might cause one or more of the girls to go after him instead was just an added bonus.
