ôNodoka Miyazaki, seat 27 of class 3-Aàam I right?ö Nodoka looked around in fear for the source of the voice, until she saw, standing on a light pole, a figure in a tattered cloak and a stereotypical witchesÆ hat. The blue-haired girl shivered, the full moon behind the figure triggering a memory. KakizakiÆs little speech: The vampire of Sakura Lane is a rumor dating back over 10 years. On the full moon, a vampire appears in the row of sakura trees near the dorms. This thought was quickly followed by EvangelineÆs comment in the baths. The rumors say the vampire loves cheerful, energetic girls like you. You should be careful, Kagurazaka-san~. Nodoka slowly took a step back in fear. ôYour blood is mine, girl!ö With a reveal of long fangs, the figure dived at Nodoka, the bookworm letting out a loud kyaaaaah!
ôRastel Maskil MagisterùSagitta Magicaö A dozen arrows of white magic flew at the vampire. ôGet away from my student!ö Negi Springfield shouted.
However, the vampire simply raised a hand. ôFrozen Barrierùreflectio. With that, the arrows simply shattered against a barrier in front of the vampire.
ôImpressive, senseiö the vampire now revealed to be Evangeline AK Mcdowell grinned. ôJust what IÆd expect, considering your progenitoràö she calmly licked a bit of blood off her finger, fangs clearly showing.
ôWhatùEvangeline? YouÆre the vampire of sakura lane?!ö Negi exclaimed disbelievingly. Evangeline simply inclined her head in acknowledgement. ôButàif youÆre a mage like meàö Negi began to protest. ôWhy are you attacking my students?ö
At this, Evangeline chuckled. ôHow na´ve. There are good mages and bad mages. The grin refused to leave her face. ôAs for why IÆm doing this.ö Negi looked eager. ôThatàis a secret.ö At this, Negi resisted the urge to facevault. ôIf you want to learn more, senseiàshe began. ôcome and catch me.ö At this, she rapidly flew away.
ôW-w-wait!ö the young teacher shouted as he looked at Nodoka, unsure of what to do with her. The sound of footsteps behind him caught his attention, and he turned around to see Asuna and Konoka running up behind him. Negi breathed a sigh of relief. As Asuna opened her mouth to demand what was going on, Negi quickly hefted the shy bookworm and charged a bit of magic, enhancing his physical abilities far beyond the norm. ôThe vampire is realùand it attacked Miyazaki-san!ö he turned around. ôIÆm going after her!ö Before the two could react, Negi rushed off, moving far quicker than the fastest Olympic sprinter.
ôEvangeline!ö Negi called out. ôIÆve got you trapped, now answer me-why did you attack Nodoka? ôWhat do you know about my father?!ö
ôHeh heh hehàö the blonde chuckled. ôYour fatheràthe Thousand Masteràö The chuckle turned into a laugh. ôDo you really think you have me cornered?ö While Negi sputtered a denial yes, you are!, a figure dropped down from the roof above them. ôWhy donÆt you meet my partner?ö Evangeline gestured. ôChachamaru Karakuri.ö
Another one? Negi thought disbelievingly. No choiceùIÆll have to get them both! ôRastel Maskil Magister, O Eleven spirits of air, come and bind my--! he was cut off by the green-haired robot rushing forward. The gynoid raised an arm to attack Negi and cut off his incantation, when a bolt of blue energy impacted her side, throwing Chachamaru to the tiles. Negi stopped his incantation in surprise.
ôWhat the--?!ö Evangeline was cut off as another bolt of blue shot out from the darkness, this one hitting the vampire and sending her into the wall leading up to a higher roof. She pushed herself up. ôWho daresùô two more bolts of blue energy shot out, and hit both her and the recovering Chachamaru. Negi quickly followed the line of fire to see a figure in white standing several rooftops away, Evangeline, still depowered, struggled to her feet before following her senseiÆs gaze, seeing the figure in white as well. Her eyes widened as a glow of blue appeared around the figureÆs hand, and she dived out of the way, the bolt of energy just missing her.
Flashback to a few minutes ago:
Standing on top of the girlsÆ dorms, a figure in white frowned. He had heard about the rumors, and was going to ignore them until he heard through the grapevine that a girl had been found low on blood. After what he had seen, he wasnÆt going to dismiss the possibility, and decided to stake out Sakura lane the next full moon. Being caught at the girlsÆ dorms was a small embarrassment if it meant he could get to the bottom of this.
He was going to take action against the vampire, and nearly did so, until the young boy teacher had initiated an attack of his own. The figure decided to wait to see how it played out, focusing energy to his eyes and ears so he could find out what was going on. ôMagesà?ö he questioned as he looked at the two in a new light. That explained the energy he sensed coming from quite a few teachers on the campus. It certainly wasnÆt Reiatsu. His attention returned as the revealed vampire flew off, the teacher rapidly following. Eyebrows furrowing, Uryu Ishida focused energy to his legs, and took off after the duo.
Keeping the terrain in mind as he moved from rooftop to rooftop, Ishida kept the two in sight. He saw flashes of light, definitely magic, fly between the two. The two were obviously exchanging words, but even with his senses enhanced Ishida couldnÆt make it out. However, he was able to make out the girl vampireÆs clothes mysteriously shredding, and resisted the urge to look away. If he lost track of them, he might not be able to catch them again until the incident was over. Thankfully, though, the two stopped on a rooftop nearby, and he quickly made his way to a rooftop a block or two away. No sense in revealing himself just yet.
Ishida watched as the boy demanded an explanation of what was going on, and what does his father have to do with this? before another girl, this one looking much older and robotic? jumped down. Introductions were made, and the new girl began to rush the boy mage. Alright, time to step in. Holding out his right arm, a glowing blue bow materialized from the focus in his pentacle, before an arrow of the same substance materialized in his left hand. At this, the Quincy rapidly aimed and fired.
