No, that would dignify it. Given how the writing quality has been spotty for the past 5+ years, there shouldn't be any dignity available to this next-gen series. Treat it like a next-gen fanfic, and tread carefully.

I always thought Sasuke witnessing Hinata and Neji's fight would have lead to very interesting developments: Neji was basically saying Sasuke had no chance in hell to defeat Itachi because FATE.

Sasuke fights Neji in the first round of the third test for a battle between Rookies of the Year, Sasuke loses (gasp!) but Naruto beats him in the second round, Naruto then fights Gaara in the third round, shits get crae and they continue their battle throughout and outside of Konoha. More fuel for Sasuke's jealous flames and Naruto wrecks badasses for all the world to see.
