...it took me a while, but once I went through it again, something struck me as REALLY weird.

Sanji is shown a picture of his soon-to-be wife, and he reacts accordingly because she's 100% babe. So far, nothing unusual.

And now we hear the bride say she's A-OK with the marriage...because Sanji was good looking, liked her chocolate cooking and was loyal to his crew, so he couldn't marry her.

Does this chain of events strike as odd to anyone? Sanji's reaction, to me, is pretty typical, but at no point do you get the feel that he *knows* her.

My bet...someone in the Vinsmoke family is making a play here, and they used Sanji as the piece to get it. What they are after is anyone's guess, but since they are a family of assassin's...the mind boggles.
If you are asking about Sanji's rejection to the marriage - it makes sense to me. Try looking at it this way - regardless of the potential girl's character, Sanji knows that after the marriage he's going to have to leave the Strawhat crew. He can't go voyaging around the world as a pirate and expect his wife to stay safe at home. The marriage is highly publicised. Anyone who has a grudge against Sanji can easily target his wife. He's not the kind of guy to leave her protection to someone else.

So, him saying no - fits. It's probably NOT something he wants to do, but considering the circumstances, understandable.

As for someone else making a play - very possible. We haven't been introduced to enough of the Vinsmoke family to figure out who, but it is very possible.

*fist meets own head* Should have been more specific.

The bride seems to have, based on the chapter, *met* Sanji, face to face, and even talked to him.

Sanji, based on everything that has happened so far, *hasn't* met her and he was dead set on saying no *before* he was shown the picture of the bride.

So, based on *that*, *if* Sanji had met this girl before he rejoined the Strawhat crew...he wouldn't have had such a...blatant reaction to her picture.
Hmm... this is my personal view - but I feel that the events (shown on manga) happened in this order,

1. Sanji don't want to get married and is taken away from crew
2. Sanji is shown her picture and he finds her attractive
3. (potential?) bride and groom meet, manga shows this from bride's perspective
4. Strawhat crew hears (from potential? bride) that Sanji rejected her becase he valued staying with the crew

This makes sense to you, or are we talking about something different?

That's definitely the sequence of events I think is happening.  No need to invent a conspiracy when there's an implied but not shown scene.

Yeah, you're probably right. I didn't take into account the time Strawhat's had to spend in order to get to the place where the wedding is supposed to take place.

I think the conspiracy theory is unlikely, but god do I want Bon Cre back in the story : )

Not likely, since he's living the dream in Impel Down as Ivankov's replacement.

Bon Cre is WAY too much of a bro to stay in Impel down with his crossdressing friends.

He'll be back to save them... Again.

Or perhaps, its because he's so bro that he'll stay at Impel Down and help the folks who come there? I think they could use the social support in that hell-hole.

See, you're assuming all the crossdresser's wouldn't be coming with him!

I think her ability is the most surprising thing really.

But hey, good thing is that apparently she's not a cannibal in the traditional sense!

...as far as we know of course. She may just like to change things up from time to time, after all.

That person standing must be Jimbei!!

But .. I wonder what did he lose to leave Big Mom's crew? And why did the others who tried to leave, not make it past a day?

Maybe I missed something, but I'm wondering who that person with two spears on their back is behind Carrot on the last page

I love that reaction Luffy had to Nami freaking out, and you can almost hear Carrot and Chopper thinking "Biiiiitch, please."

First up, I want that watch.

Second, Sanji's family are assholes, but his sister is still hot

Don't know what happened, but I actually missed the last few chapters. One of the cases, were I'm happy to keep chatting in this thread - serves as a good bookmark for where I was. :p

Sanji's father is something. I wonder if there'll be some kind of showdown or something? And as for Luffy .. it's interesting to see the Straw Hats admit that Big Mom is not some small time pushover. Also, her husband's introduction to the show threw me off. Wasn't expecting him to appear.

Speaking of which, am I reading this correctly - Big Mom is Lola's mother? As in, one of the 2 daughters she had with her husband? It seems to be implied that the rest of the family were adopted in some capacity.

Does anyone remember the promise made by Lola to Nami near the end of the Thriller Bark episode? I have the feeling that she said something about her Mom willing to help her, but don't recollect it.

Yep, in chapter 489. However, it wasn't any kind of guaranteed promise. She gave Nami a piece of her vivre card which was given to her by her mother, and Lola told Nami that if they were ever in any trouble, they could use the piece of the vivre card and meet with Lola's mother. AND, if they ever did do it, they tell her that she(Lola) was doing well.

That was about it. I still like how subtle Oda was with his clues.
