Raccoon City

Tex: replies. "I do not think images like that are nessecary.. especially with the empty ammo cases we found, I hope that it is not as easy to die, as I don't think we each get extra lives or continues."

Clarke chuckled, before saying "Okay then, Tex, what's the game plan? Once we get out of this joint, where do we go?"

(Would anyone mind if I have a moment of fright descend on our heroes if they pass a music shop?)

Tex: replies softly, after making sure the radio is off. "The Chopper Wreckage, if it has any salvagable stuff, then the Bank if Possible, the Hospital is a Loss and Overrun, the Bank does not have any value for folks to scavenge, it should be more intact and defensible, unless we come accross a RPD precinct, but the others, if they survive, will attempt to make their way there, If I thought it might help, I would be in favor of pulling a 'Mad Max' with a Semi and leaving town.. "

"You're tellin' me... your gut instincts haven't lead you wrong yet, have they? Maybe we should call the flyboys in, and nape the place to the ground..." Clarke paused for a moment, in thought. "Y'know, I can't help but wonder what that thing was earlier, that thing with what sounded like a mini-gun? Could there be something going on here, beyond the whole George Romero thing?"

Tex: replies. "Well.. seeing that some of the ammo was rockets, I think that is what shot our ride down, and it would not surprise me if it had raided the chopper supplies, if it did, I just hope that we can use what is left.. conspiracy theory time, you said Nape the place? To take out a city.. you need higher yield.. especially if you want to burn sickness.. like the mutant or zombie freaky things.. several higher yield one on top the other to make sure... the reason I am not immediately favoring the Mad Max run, is that there are only a few roads, they may be covered with mines, Air Escape is the best option if possible.. except for the rocket solution.. we need help, and lots of it, calling for help may have brought the crap to the hospital.. any idea's?"

"Hmm..." Clarke considered. "I'm pretty sure I saw a railyard as we were coming in. If we have to bail from the city quickly, we could 'jack a train. As for the city clearance..." he trailed off, with an unpleasant expression crossing his face. "Do you think someone might actually go as far as nuking this place...?"

Tex: snorts. "You better believe it.. something like the crap running around out there? All of this smells like a Black Ops type of thing, with Fatal DeBriefs.. I did have the vauge thought of retiring, but if we do so, money from the bank?" :p

"Half my ideas will take too much time, though i might be able to let us 'listen in' if such a strike is called for and i've got a good net connection. . ."
"As for jacking a train, depends on how it's power is supplied if we wanna do it quietly. :hmm: probably be good to take down any and all sattellites or at the very least to just move their attention away from us, I'd rather not leave without knowing what this thing is and how to really keep it from spreading or at the very least turning me into that. . ."*shudders*

Tex: thinks. "Hey, I once saw somethin on T.V., think you could do a MacGyver and build some powered hanggliders so we could fly out of here?" the idea is said in a half-serious tone.

powered hanggliders
I'd rather not get shot down anytime soon, thank you very much! or have you forgotten about the helicopter already?

Tex: replies right back. "No.. but tell me, what type of tracking system is on the rocket that was fired at the chopper? I am not sure, but was it a unguided one that you fire and it flies in the direction you aimed, or one that was a heat seeker or other? Another MacGuyver thing and perhaps fire a flare gun if a heat seeker? Anyways.. I am willing to try something, because every idea has a few drawbacks.. and I have a feeling it is all on a timer.. how long do you think a situation like this can be kept under wraps without attracting more attention?"

True, and I get the feeling that 'Cover-Up' won't even begin to describe the methods a politician will go to in this sort of situation, chances are if they feel they can cordon whatever it is off they won't even accept a Cure for whatever this is simply to maintain an image of 'We're the Good Guys!' to the public.

As for tracking system? Wouldn't know, I'd have originally told you based on the make and manufacturing notes of the vehicle in question, but, the same guys who made the 'copter made the rockets namely Umbrella Corp, so something that'd be impossible for another rocket of the same type say Heat-Seeking has a secondary chance based on what our bosses did with it's tech.

The last step down the stairs brings your group to the third floor. You silently wince as shattered glass crack underneath your boots.

If the top floor was bad, this level is far worse. The storefront windows are all gone, and you can see that the wall, floor and ceiling is marked by weapons fire.

A wide assortment of empty cartridges litter the floor, including but not limited to .45 ACP, 9mm, 5,56 NATO, 7,62 NATO, 30-06.

A section of the railing as well as part of the floor is missing on your left, it looks like it has been subjected to somekind of explosives. It's only a part of the floor though, and if you keep to the side you can easily pass.

The shop to your right looks like it has suffered a fire, nothing but ash and the skeletal remains of some of the metal shelves remain.

You can see the staircase on the other side of the floor, and behind that you can see the thick metal door leading into the emergency staircase.

"Looks like our friend with the chaingun came through here earlier." Clarke commented, somewhat superfluously. He studied the trail of cartridge casings for a moment. "Hey, what do you think? Are these casings heading back the way we came, or....?" The rest of his question was left hanging in the air as he began to check his weapons again, nervously.

Quick check of the Directory for the next shops down. (if it's still up anyways. . .)

if we see any empty magazines we'll pick those up, otherwise we'll check each shop on our way to the stairs.

Listen Checks, please?

The complete silence is a stark contrast to the evidence of violence.

I slowly sweep your flashlights over the floor in search of empty magazines

3 empty clips for a Colt 1911
1 empty clip for a Browning Hi-Power
1 empty clip for the Desert Eagle
1 empty clip for the Colt Delta Elite
1 Beta-C Mag (100 round clip for the M4)
4 empty 30 round clips for the M4
2 empty 20 round clips for the M21

Near the entrance to one of the stores you spot the deformed halves of an M14 Battle Rifle, covered in copious amounts of blood. There is nothing that can be salvaged from it.

From where you are standing it looks that whoever fired all those weapons fired them down the corridor. If you turn around and look at the way you came from there aren't as many bullet holes. It was probably a while since it happened though, the brass is cold and there aren't even any ambers left in the burnt out store.

Tex: sweeps the light around the area where they were shooting at, to see signs of bullet holes as well as looking for signs of wounds while saying. "Choices, Door Number one, tight emergency staircase or Door number two, open stairway, unless you want door number three, service elevator?"

Tex pauses a second. "I am gonna use the goggles and take a look around, down and around the hole, see what is below us, kill the lights a sec?" then waits to see if the others do so.

You step up to the hole in the floor and slowly walk around it while searching the floor below you. You spot some rubble directly beneath the hole and the lower part of some of the shops, what you see of the floor beneath you looks empty of living, dead or undead.

Tex: also takes a second to Listen as well, the shuffle of feet or otherwise, then reports back the findings, switching back to lights.

"Hmm.. it seems too quiet, after all, how fast could that thing haul all that ammo and rockets? Is it still hanging around?"

There is no sign of the thing that took the ammo from the hunting shop.

Tex: lets out a breath and shakes his head. "Do you guys think the Hospital Group will make it out, at least some of them? Should we monitor the frequency just in case?"

A pause as another thought occurs.

"On another subject, how well developed and extensive do you think the sewers are and if they are monitored? Fancy a dungeon run to a far away waste processing area perhaps, escape to exotic smelling locales? From there, go farther?"

Clarke nodded. "I'll monitor the their frequency. If anything happens to them, I inform you all." He shrugged at Tex's added comment. "Sure, at least we've got gas masks so the smell shouldn't be too terrible..."

*thinks*

(two questions about the M14,
1. is the blood dried?
2. when you say nothing is salvageable, do you mean none of the attachments are salvageable? i.e. could I turn it into a Pistol/Machine-gun?
note that the full extent of my knowledge of Firearms comes from Jagged Alliance 2, sad ain't it?)

The blood is mostly dried, but there are some patches that are still wet. The front of the rifle is twisted and the barrel is bent about 45 degrees from normal.

The rifle is also severed in two halves around the trigger housing, with the inside of the rifle twisted beyond recognition.

Tex: asks. "Any usable ammo left in that hunk of scrap? As the previous owner won't be needing it any more."
