So....

The Fools' Tournament has ended and it's ending...I'm just not sure what to feel...

On the one hand, I felt that it was a good ending and a little heartbreaking after all the crap we've had to go through and all the attachments we've gotten...

On the other hand, I'm fucking pissed off that it was what it was...

It's just...I liked the story and all that jazz, but...I just don't know anymore...

Although I feel your pain on this, I do have to say one thing.

You can't really call it a dream as the consequences of that "dream" affected reality.

Its the side quest that opens the path to the Good End.

I feel the same as you about the ending.

Frankly I'd expected the shadow thing on and off for awhile, but I'm still disappointed in how it was executed.

At the very least it was a Megami Tensei fanfic to the end and I enjoyed it.

I liked the first chapter, and the grammer problems didn't bother me. So to be able to answer your question, could you elaborate the problems you had with it?

Well, the fic starts with a hex backfiring. One chapter later that's been forgotten about. The author's characterization of Tharja isn't quite dark enough I feel; Tharja is supposed to be a disturbed individual with an unfortunate fixation on the main character who nevertheless is capable of kindness and compassion. She doesn't need the author to make her more sympathetic, she already is. Also the author's getting too caught up in other characters, this is a Robin and Tharja romance from the latter's point of view, the perspective of other characters just doesn't matter (though a short bit at the end of every chapter with Robin freaking out over whatever Tharja did this chapter would be great).

Then there's a bunch of minor grammatical and spelling errors that isn't enough to bother most people, but it certainly knocks me out of the story.

Mega Man: Guiding Rainbow's Light

A Mega Man fic, which basically focuses on Dr. Light and Wily from there twenties up until the time they eventually create the Robot Masters.

Some notes: First off, this is a MASSIVE fic, nearly 400,000 words. Second, there's really no focus on the Mega Man games itself, given that the conclusion comes right before the start of the first Mega Man game. Third, there's a ton of tragedy, and it isn't really until near the end of the fiction you get some optimism.

But reading it? Goddamn, what a story. I could almost see this thing being bought and made canon ala some of the Star Trek fanfics back in the day.

Sadly most Nocturne fics are either slash (which by this point I just assume is poorly written) or barely okay romance, nothing I'd recommend.

And sadly what little SMT IV I've seen is the same, just with a few barely okay regular fics.

Jon Berry has two decent Devil Survivor/Persona 3 crossovers.

Mass Effect/Deus Ex:HR crossover - couldn't find this listed, and I like the story. My only problem is that it seems like the writer is overdoing the cameo appearances of the popular media characters. It's getting a little hard to keep track of the references on my end.

You also might want to skip the Caleston arc and just get it summarized for you, though I'll admit I might be biased since I've definitely grown to dislike the fic.

Riding the Dragon by Drakensis is the best I've read. Some of his other ones are fun too, The Taurian Gambit is also good although it might require a bit more background knowledge. Most of the writing for Battletech fandom seems to be of really poor quality, which sadly isn't that surprising because even the official novel series had several terrible books in it. Terrible as in getting basic elements of the universe completely wrong and having the characters act differently from writer to writer.

There are some decent websites for information about the series though. sarna.net is the home to the wiki now and the one I use these days. I used to go to a website named after Solaris 7 years ago, solaris7.com could be it but it doesn't look familiar to me. It does have some fanfiction on it as well but I can't vouch for the quality of any of the stories. mwomercs.com is the site for the new quasi-mmorpg version of MechWarrior, it has a literary section but no stories of any real quality/length last I checked. The game is f2p with a cash shop, last I played it was fun but it really helped to drop with a group of people together on ts/vent. I haven't had time to play in a while but hopefully that will change.

The Wolf Queen Awakens
It's not complete yet, but it will most likely be finished (author don't leave stories unfinished).
The same author did a Cicero is the Dragonborn called "With a Dragonborn like this" (which is complete and with two sequels too).
