Revamping an old idea of mine...
More details, this time about the OCs and cameos. Note I took liberties with GLaDOS's Mekanoid version.
--------
R3X MODEL - SPACE FORTRESS RIANOBED
A giant space fortress the size of a small moon built by the Mekanoids' creators prior to their sudden extinction. This space fortress was the third and final model built, and was named after an old legend of the Creators, which stated that 'when the steel moon shines in the sky, Rianobed, the gate to paradise, would open'.
Ironically, immediately after completion of Rianobed, a deadly shower of cosmic rays struck and killed almost all life on the planet, leaving only rare plants, insects and Mekanoids left. The planet has slowly degenerated into a lifeless shell since then, and the Mekanoids have taken to 'terraforming' it into the artficial planet, Mekanos.
Rianobed itself still orbits the dying planet, being kept active and working by the central intelligence -Zero One-. As a space fortress, it is equipped with gravitonic fluctuators that enable it to reach quasi-relativistic speed for short periods of time. This, coupled with the Skygate's phase shift technology, proves invaluable in relocating Rianobed in the Sol system when it is handed over to the NDC.
The space fortress is fully equipped with lifesupport and living quarters for a very large number of inhabitants - easily more than the NDC boast in their own numbers. It was also apparently made with transportation of massive objects in mind, as it has hangars capable of storing every unit in the NDC's armada, battleships included. However, it was clearly made for an alien race, as its accommodations needed modifications to even only be usable by humans.
Several Mekanoids chose to accompany Rianobed in its travel to the Sol system besides the central admin -Zero One-, curious about humans. These include the comm specialist Serenade-?, the security expert Cerberus-? and the battle routine and strategizing expert Cortana-?, in addition to a semisentient hacking and security administrator - ADA - and an automated eight-legged security droid, codename X-ATM092, which is the Mekanoid equivalent of a guard dog and looks quite threatening, being much larger than other Mekanoids.
There is also a medical unit simply named The Doctor onboard, but since he's not very familiar with human physiology, his usefulness is very limited at first. He is, however, talented enough to figure a way to install a full lifesupport in Kamille Bidan's Jaguarandi for the ace pilot's use.

SHODAN
SHODAN is the planetary administrator of Mekanos - for all intents and purposes, she is the planet itself, as she is aware of all its mechanized parts and denizens. Despite her name - which evoked great concern in some NDC pilots familiar with twentieth century Earth computer gaming - she is a very friendly and dependable creature, although streaks of ruthless rationality show up every now and then, especially when she asks why Kamille hasn't been 'recycled', as he's obviously 'a damaged unit'.
SHODAN is the one who authorizes use of Rianobed for the NDC, as the Mekanoids have no use for the giant satellite and it is quite a hassle to keep in shape when he planet itself is in its mechanizing process, which ties up almost all its resources. SHODAN agrees to hand Rianobed over to the NDC, but in return they will have to find their own resources for repairing it. Fortunately, the Sol system has such resources in abundance.
GLaDOS
Mekanos's long-distance comm administrator. GLaDOS processes all information and data coming from the various drones scattered by Mekanoids over the universe, operates remote activation of the Skygates and generally runs the place as much as SHODAN does.
Unlike SHODAN, GLaDOS is much closer to its twentieth century game counterpart, displaying a dispassionate amorality and slightly psychotic tendencies at times. In at least two occasions she issues a global hostile invasion alert just to see the humans jump out of their skins, and she shows an unsettling amount of interest in dissecting Karozzo's brain to see how it interacts with his Neo-Psycommu system. Needless to say, Iron Mask refuses to comply.
RB01 -ZERO ONE-
The central AI of Rianobed. Rarely seen, but his presence is felt as he keeps everything going smoothly from the shadows.
It should be noted that SHODAN saw fit not to tell the humans about Zero One's full designation: RB01, -Region Buster Zero One-, the final weapon meant to terminate threats of galactic proportions. Rianobed itself, after all, is a space fortress, and as such it has very large-scale destructive abilities. However, nothing short of a cosmic catastrophe would drive Zero One to act on his potential, so the risk he poses is negligible. In particular, short-lived organic lifeforms such as humans and Zuvorg have been classified at negligible threat level, making them more or less comparable to gnats in the grand scheme of things.
SNEV
A rookie pilot of negligible importance among the NDC. He does, however, have a claim to fame: other rookies and even veteran aces have taken to calling him the 'Shootdown King' because he has never finished a battle with his Mobile Suit intact, yet he has never been killed in battle either, always safely returning unharmed.
While he has decent skills, his importance lies more in the morale boost and inspiration he instills in other rookies - he survived allo his battles, so they should be able to do the same if they work hard at it, right? That leads to rookie pilots being very earnest in their fighting. While that does lead to casualties, the morale high Snev provides far outweighs the drawbacks of the youths becoming a little more reckless.
In short: he's pretty much there only for the morale. :snigger:
