Rush just proved to be uncontrollable as well as being a freakin psycho.

Since Young couldn't control him anymore, and since Rush is too damn smart, letting him stay would be pretty much an invitation for future mutinous attempts.

Of course, Young couldn't kill Rush, so he decided to maroon him instead.

Which, of course, most likely means Rush is going to show up again.

(Unless they stick with dark. In which case, let us never see Rush again.)

In any case, they don't really need him. It's been a couple of (weeks?), the ship's functions, while mostly unknown, are pretty routine now. They're in no worst trouble now than they were with Rush. The ship's calm down into a manageable coffin, barring any unforseen happenings.

In which case, Rush might or might not be useful. Probably Young weighed his potential usefulness against his certain dangers, and since Rush elevated himself quite high up the latter...

It's also not just a "funk" anymore. Rush tried to frame Young for murder. Then manipulated the woman into allowing that scientist guy to sit on the chair. He pretty much has zero regards for another's life so as long as he feels it's best. Well, he was always like that, but he never really actively succeeded in his attempts. Well, now he has, and that's not good.

So...what reason could Young possibly have to marooning Rush? Despite the funk between them, Young has to know that they need him.
Because this show makes no sense.

Says the guy with the Doctor avatar.

Yes, I'm aware of my avatar as well.

We'll see Rush again. Alien spaceship, yeah?

I don't think Young really thought it through very well either. He could have just bashed his head in with a rock. Didn't even have to waste a bullet. He's got anger problems that aren't ideal in a leader. Regardless of how understandable they may be.

I think Eli at least has an idea of what went down, and why.

When he stopped Eli for a moment I actually thought he was gonna tell him to start getting prepared because he was gonna have him replace Rush.

It kinda makes me wonder how bad ass the ship is gonna be since there is no way this is the last we'll see of Rush.

Rush is stranded on an alien planet...

With an abandoned Space Ship.

Yes, it surely will be the last we see of him.

And also, Young is a fucking moron. I've never really understood the irrational distrust he's had for Rush. Granted it's turned out to be somewhat justified, but still.

Don't think it's irrationnal. I mean, they were together on Icarus and Rush was already his obsessive self at the time. Rush Stranding them on destiny only cemented his opinion about Rush's.

I don't think Rush intended for that guy to sit in the chair. The way I read his expressions was that he was disappointed in the waste of resources lost by a scientist dying, I could just imagine that he had a whole list of less useful people he would rather have had in that chair.

Besides which, his actions run very contrary to that result. The first thing he did after getting permission to fiddle around with The Chair was to tell all his team to study the damn thing. Not, "Hey you, take a seat."

You'd also note Young was in charge and keeping an eye on him.

Ahh so we can safely say then -since the show has been canceled- that because Young was an idiot and stranded Rush when next a problem arose and he wasn't around when they REALLY could have used him then they all died.

...I like this end. -_-

Like I said, Jack probably hoped all these idiots would be stranded so as to make life easier for everyone else. He's crafty that way.

SG:U was sadly not very good. They forgot the core premise of the show was parody and humor. They went for serious science fiction, flubbed the science massively offending scientists and nerds from watching, then focussed on emo, offending those hoping for some redeeming humor to crop up. Sadly, most of the characters deserved to be tossed out an airlock. I mean that quite seriously.

If a similarly serious effort were put to doing a full season series on say "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" instead of exploiting the Stargate name with a crap offshoot series, we'd have good scifi instead of this crapload. It would also be clever, because MIAHM is about oppression, exploitation, wage slavery, and recognizing the paradigm shift, something we all need to do in today's post-Imperial world.

Then Jack woke up with a massive hangover.
this was the absolute last time he would let teal'c bring jaffa booze to the new years party.
