Mild necro, but came up with a possible idea.

Transmuted items.

Essentially, we all have an ordinary item with us at the time of the Bad End, and thanks to the passage through the ether between worlds, it gets changed into something more useful.

Examples:

X was reading the D&D Spell Compendium at the time. When he woke up, it was changed into: The Beginner's Guide to Magic

Y was swordfighting with her little brother's plastic swords when the world ended. Now it's a big, badass weapon used to depopulate cities and/or small countries

Z was napping with his cat. When he got up, the cat was gone, but he had a shiny gem that summoned a panther.

What do you think?

Also, if this does get going, watch out for cheating.

Possible Scenario: A friend of mine build rockets, and I've got a few engines off of him. It wouldn't take much to make a bastardized bazooka out of the materials I have, and some gasoline.

I do agree that their should be a system of strengths and weaknesses, but preferably more pronounced than it was in the games. A person without Magic as one of their strengths would NEVER be able to learn Ultima during the game, and likewise someone who isn't a swordmaster won't be able to use the crazy awesome doom weapons.

Nice idea with the 'transmutation'. It's essentially what's keeping the laptops and the internet running, so what's a stretch?
I'd depower things a bit though. Plastic swords becoming live steel is cool and good, but you don't get a free buster sword. The guide to magic would be more theoretical, but that opens it's own can of bad-ass so I wouldn't worry (Begginnings of a trapmaster in that thing). Summons? Cool, but remember you have to learn how to summon, and the energy for that summon has to come from somewhere.

Also, for those who have the time, resources and brains: Gummiships/mecha. These'd probably only get dragged out for emergency use (get someone who ended up at HB OUT) but great battles of asskickery also qualify. (RAID! Heartless raid! Scramble all defensive units! Melee fighters, get those pilots to the hangar! Evacuate all non-combat personel to safezones! This ain't a drill folks! Let's show these hungry little bastards a thing or two about earthlings!)

They're not really overpowered. Learning all the magic would take months without someone more experienced to show you the tricks.

They could probably get a Buster Sword, but it would take a long time for them to be able to even lift it, let alone use it properly. I'd recommend th Coliseum as a good start world for that case.

You basically hit on this with the Summons. They have tofgure out how to use it and then have enougg power to use it effectively. It doesn'ty matter if I know how to cast Death or Ultima, if I barely have enough MP to use fireball. Knowing how to chop a man into sushi sized bits, it pointless without being able to lift the sword. It doesn't matter what you summon if you can only keep it there for 5 seconds.

I'd be a little wary about using gummi ships as much more than transportation, because once you use them as WMDs, the Heartless/Nobodies will probably do the same, and there are a helol of a lot more of them, and we can't be everywhere at once.

Those are good reasons. :sisi:
Although I'm not so sure that the Heartless would start using gummi-tech on the ground, they do haveland based units that they in KH2's ... what IS it called? Gummispace? Interspace?
But, you still hold an underlying point. Mecha, while cool, have the potential to turn the tide enough to get heartless to really focus on us. Better just stick to ships when it comes to gummi-tech. Although, now I can't help but think we should make a fleet. There's probablt not enough of us to run a real-sized fleet, but we should have the manpower for a couple of fighters, some bigger cargo/battle ships, and maybe a carrier or something nice for a capital ship. Why would we have this? Retrival of people, and maybe some interspace trade to fatten our wallets enough to maintain a good lifestyle and the ships. Not to mention taking potshots at pirates and heartless hiding out there.

Why the trading for money? Seriously, money, while not power, can be converted to it fairly easily by those who know how. Besides, maintaining a fleet is expensive, and for a long time (at least a few months, maybe a year even) we probably won't even have the resources to make the fleet. We'll probably only have one or two rag-tag ships to start off, and even those'll take a while to acquire. For those who's read Storm Corps, we're going to be the first generation of weatherships. Dangerous work, makeshift equipment, and gritting your teeth while chanting 'Hold together, baby. Hold together.' will become a staple of life for the first couple of real gummi ship pilots.

Allright then. Well, here's a quick question for you guys. Do we become involved in the plot? Do we stay quiet and hope that our presence doesn't have that much of an effect on the plot? Do we try to make changes, but otherwise attempt damage control to limit them?

Considering we're a ragtag hodgepodge who are scrambling just to get the basics, I'd seriously consider keeping out of the limelight until we're either forced out or we think we've got a chance not to be disintegrated by the end of turn 1.

I mean, I'd seriously consider taking up piracy/scavenging for parts and cash, if we're really in a bind. We can't help anyone if we're barely sustaining ourselves in the carrier ship.

And as for any more places we could turn up...Mighty Ducks: Animated series, Treasure Planet, or even in the Incredibles, though you'd seriously have to tone down any superpower you'd have if you landed in that world.

Jackie Chan Adventures would be another option.

If he thought he had bad days before... :snigger:

Look, I'm saying if we got 4/5 people we should go ahead with this. It's easy for people to join. We can have the laptops turn into communicators but with multiple frequencies; everyone that was on TFF at the time gets the TFF frequency. If your on a different site you get a different one preloaded. So if someone comes in late it's just that they were on a different site and we never were able to make contact.

i.e. Zero comes in late. He says he was trolling DLP when the world ended and he ended up in (blah).

Alright then.
If I get five pm's or posts after this from people saying they're interested, we'll start making final arrangements.
Now then, when should we end the world? Midnight, noon? And the date? Even then, we'll need to establish a set time, so we all know when exactly the world's gone kaput and can plan accordingly.
Quick rule sketch:
1: No super powers. Read the rest of the thread to get a grasp of what's acceptable and what's not.

2: No Nobodification or whatever. I seriously doubt that any of us has the strength of will to pull that sort of thing off.

3: Try to keep things in format. You're posting to spread knowledge/ find out What the HELL is going on. It's like discussion RPthing. Go look up World Refugees to get a better grip on how this should go.

4: If you want some high speed RP, or want to RP for an 'EVENT' (That's right! I'm going to plan EVENTS) you either do it via IM or in a thread specificaly for it. These'll probably be more like the RP threads you're used to.

Place holder?
Well, either way, that's one. With myself, that's two.

I wouldn't bother posting if I wasn't interested. Just let me know when we start.

Are we going to write it as if we were posting on the message board, or like most of the TFF RPGs, and post as if it was currently happening?

Mostly like we're posting on a board.
Depending on how things go, we may have threads for posting what's going on in certain Worlds just to do something on the side.
OK, that's four people. I think that once the ball gets rolling we might pick up some more people.
When do we want to start? The 19th? Today? And shall we put the End on the 21st? We can argue exact times later.

Sounds good. Should we establish what worlds are available, and where we're starting?

Edit: Random Thought: Within the Multiverse exists the Cult of Walt, dedicated the Walt Disney and his ability to see through the void of time and space, and then exploiting those visions to build an empire.

One part Capitalist, One part Mysticism, One part Crazy, all parts funny.

I think the board idea works best, I mean we're on different worlds. But if two of us meet we can move it to a chat thing and then clean it up and post it.

Also open the thread today and just we'll shoot the shit for a while, someone sees a heartless tomorrow and the world ends the day after.

I know I'm certainly interested.

I'm in too.

Edit: One last question would other sites still be up like normal, like say youtube still being there and just not being updated?

Allright then. I'll set the ball rolling.
Also, the internet works... mostly. use your own discretion for what still goes and what doesn't.
See you guys on the other side.

Oh, one last rule:
5:We don't get keyblades.

Question on the transmutation thing. What would a screwdriver, a medikit, and a machete become?

Just I heads up, the spelling errors were intentional, and were brought about by greif if you're wondering.

That's fine, I posted for clarification.
On the transmutation thing: Keep things simple and not too over the top. Screw driver could become a multi-tool, medikit becomes a better medikit, and machete becomes sharper and harder.
Remember K.I.S.S. every one. (Keep It Simple, Stupid)
Also, should we 'know about kingdom hearts, or play dumb?

Play dumb I guess.

Ditto here. Knowing makes things weird. Also remember that the plot of the worlds in KH games are different than the real games so adjust accordingly.
