Well I just saw the movie...

I second the nomination that the movie was awesome.

if Marvel can keep this going strong and from the scene after the end is any indication
Avengers 2 may well be even more win

I must say, though, as hax as Vibranium is, it broke my suspension of disbelief to see Captain America's shield survive a hit from freaking Mjolnir. Especially with Cap not even hurt from the blow.

It's true to the source material that way though

Eh, Like it. Had some nice allusions to past incarnations of the heroes as well, I only caught a few but it was a nice touch.

It was pretty good, I prefer some of the origin stories better (Ironman 1, Cap. America) but it was still as enjoyable as some of the others (Iron II, Thor).

I like the new Hulk, but I still have fond memories of Norton and that walking away medley(the one that was a remix of "the lonely man" from the Lou Frrigno Hulk series).

SLJ seems to be getting old though, I don't think he can pull off the awesome covert badass anymore. Some of those early scenes just didn't work... he got better near the end though.

Oh, the turning point part... Man, Whedon. Guess he had to reinforce his reputation. I liked that dude too.

If the rumours are to be believed, and this guy is the next Ant Man...then YES:Nathan Fillion & RDJ

He already has such great chemistry with RDJ on screen.

Pretty sure they shot that idea down a few years back., the Ant-Man thing.

Also, Hulk kicking Loki's ass was indeed hilarious.

I just saw the movie and the last scene.

I am so stoked for the sequel, that villain they're bringing in will be the shit.

A hint, they call him a Titan.

Nah...it's just stuck in production hell.

The official word from Marvel is that they don't want to mess with the director's creative juices, so they're holding off on production until the Avengers air.

I honestly thought Iron Man stole the show for that movie but, its damn good. I love the scene when you first see the hellicarrier lifting off.

As long as the Hulk is as amazing as I've heard in this, I'm almost The Hobbit Levels of pumped now.

Shame I has to wait till after finals and graduation. :(

It was very good. This is the first Hulk incarnation I've really liked, even as Bruce Banner. And I liked the nod to Hulk and Thor's canon rivalry.

I think my only "complaints" and they're not actual complaints so much as observations is that Hulk and Thor were probably a bit too watered in terms of their power. Yes, Vibranium can stand up to Mjolnir, but Thor is casually capable of throwing around hundreds of thousands of tons, whereas Captain America maxes out around a ton to at most a couple tons depending on who is writing him. He should not have walked away from that impact unless Thor was going completely out of his way to not injure him. Thor and Hulk are legit monsters; Iron Man, Captain, Archer, etc can't really stand shoulder to shoulder with them. However, I do realize it's a movie, and it's a movie geared towards a larger audience, so it's very easy to dismiss. It's just something I thought was a little poorly handled, but definitely not enough to take the shine off the movie. It gets a 6/5 from me.

Also, I now ship Thor/Black Widow. Dunno why, just do.

Edit: The comedy in this is first rate by the way. "Watch how you speak, he is an Asgardian and my brother, my family." "He killed 80 people." "He's adopted."

One of the reasons why I loved the movie is while Tony gets most of the snark, he doesn't get all of it.

And the Hulk is so goddamn awesome. Fucking interrupts Loki in his Reason You Suck Speech by grabbing him by his leg and slamming him into the floor a couple of times.

"So that is the Hulk."

Pure fucking gold.

Watched it earlier today.

I have to agree, both Hulk and Bruce Banner were money in this movie. Ruffalo does a great job as Banner, and the Thor/Hulk skirmish on the fortress was great, as I've always loved to see these two big time heavyweights go at it. Would have also loved to see Hulk hurl Mjolnir back at Thor, as he's one of the few beings shown capable of such a feat of brute strength.

Downey Jr. was his usual entertaining and snarky self as Tony Stark ("Shakespeare in the park") and I loved it, but I walked away from the film with Hulk/Banner as my favorite memory. Heh, Hulk/Loki scene? best thing I've seen in years.

The Avengers are in for a world of pain for the next one if Thanos steps on the field, as evidenced by the teaser after the credits.

Huh, looks like the success of the Avengers might cause another Hulk reboot. According to rumors anyways.

A 600 million total opening is absolutely insane. The money this movie made will green light a lot of future movies, including some that I imagine no one thought would ever get made. With how they used individual movies, all of which were profitable, as buildup... Well there is ironclad proof of concept that the idea can work gloriously. So I'm already expecting coming films with other side characters to be used for buildup in order to add to the Avengers roster.

Came back from watching the movie. My favorite was the Loki/Hulk and that dumbfounded expression on Loki's face. "Like...uhh...what just happened?"

Ehhh, no, that's exactly how the Mighty Shield works in comics, too. It absorbs/reflects impact coming at it, without transmitting that shock to the wielder. Even ridiculous amounts of impact. Even Hulk-esque and beyond amounts of impact.

Gladiator has punched that thing and bounced. The Power Cosmic has hit it and bounced. The only time the Mighty Shield was ever broken was when Doom was slamming it with the power of the Beyonder.

So no, Thor wailing on it and getting the force of the impact back in his teeth while the guy behind the shield is OK? That's not 'watering down' anything.

Also, consider that in the movie we saw how powerful Tony's arm lasers were. They sliced right through a chunk of Helicarrier hull the size of a barge.

JARVIS told Tony to not even try the arm lasers on one of the flying Giganto-ish things, he could not hope to penetrate their armor with the lasers...

... that's the same armor the Hulk punched right through like it was no thang.

And the big green Hulk fist that did that armor penetration? Is the same one that hit Thor fifteen times, and Thor took it and stayed standing.

Nah, the power tiers were fine.

I mostly agree that the relative abilities where acurate but there's always going to be some consistencey issues with Hulk because his strength is never static and always changing in occordance to how angry he is.
