I saw the movie and if there was one gripe besides the first half and loki, it was the absolutely BULLSHIT way they beat the aliens.

Okay so was I the only person in the theater who was cheering the old man on during the scene in Germany?
I loved that part....an old German man whose heard this same shit before stands up, even though he's outgunned and is ready to die rather than kneel to another tyrant.

I think this might actually make some sense.

I'm kind of thinking of running with a theme here. Not just suicide by Avengers, but a greater plan of Loki's through it. It's never straight forward with Loki.

I also want to play with the dynamic that, had everything not gone crazy, that Loki most likely would have been Thor's chief adviser, given that he's Thor's surrogate brain more often than not through their childhood. Odin had to realize that the only way Thor was ready to rule would be if his little brother was there to whisper in his ear and hold Thor's temper in check. Then the Thor movie happened and you see Loki is even more messed up than Thor was.

I honestly thought Iron Man stole the show for that movie but, its damn good. I love the scene when you first see the hellicarrier lifting off.
My votes goes to black widow. Seriously showed her acting abilities in this one, and came off as a character I want to know more about and see expanded, ditto for Hawkeye, to an extent. I'd love to see a sheild movie, giving us more background about the non-super powered avengers, and the fallout from the new york incident.

Banner was also amazing in this. always felt like something was 'off' with him, like he was trying to hold something back. I'm not sure he could carry a solo film, but I'd love to see him as a subplot in say, Iron man 3 or such.

Saw it again. Anyone else get the impression something was less right with Loki than usual for most of the movie? Think about it, the guy that loathes resorting to physical violence because it's way more fun to defeat someone with words and tricks came out swinging. In a situation where Fury was actually trying to negotiate with him.

Then you have Thor's horror at wondering who could have taught Loki how to harness the Tessaract (and we know who it was if we saw the credits).

Not to mention that he swings back and forth from smooth manipulator in control of everything to crazy guy with the Joker grin like he suddenly developed MPD.

Then you have Loki laying in a crater for the better part of the battle after Hulk kicked his ass. The guy with enough power on his own to travel to any of the Nine Realms without aid or being seen by Heimdall, something more on par with Odin than with Thor, just laid there after getting tossed around physically. Now granted, you have my whole Suicide by Avengers theory which I will wrote more for soon, but what the Hell? Until he used his knives against Thor none of his actions seemed totally Loki-like. And that was after his Vader-esque "it's too late for me" moment.

Then he just stands there looking bored and seems to if not help, than at least accept Thor taking him back to Asgard.

Also, when the heck was Loki banished? He fell, or rather let go after Odin used a very poor choice of words; and even Thor admitted that the family mourned him thinking him dead. But the Chitauri clearly discussed the fact that was was banished.

All of this adds up to a greater string puller, and again, we know who it might be (although I will not yet say it for the sake of spoilage for those who have not seen the movie yet).

Of course of that's true and Loki is now in Asgard where a certain glove was clearly shown in Odin's vault...

Well the theme i got from the Thor movie was that at the end of the day even when he's being a bitching pain in the arse for everyone else, Especially Thor, Loki is basicly just trying to get himself at the top of his father's good books the only way he really knows how... by being a Twisty little bastard.

Knowing who was holding his 'leash' so to speak for the Avenger's movie one is forced to wonder if this is not More of the same, him bringing an enemy to Glorious victory... so that he can stab them in the back in the name of the all-father?

Cause really, for that whole movie it Never seemed like if he was ever in any place which he didn't actually want to be in... sept of course the whole being beaten by the hulk like old dirty rug.

They've actually dragged it out for display at a couple of press events and conventions for Thor before Avengers came out. You don't see very much of it, but it is in the vault on Asgard. Part of me wonders if Loki is trying to repeat what he did with Laufey, and part thinks he might have been just as mind controlled as the people he used when he first came to Earth. His behavior makes more sense if he's trying to fight off a whammy half the time.

Suicide by Avengers....an interesting theory.
it gets even more interesting as its apparently NOT a one shot.

Another staggering point as to why Loki was not in his right mind.

This part, I'm very fond of:

"I am certain you are doing the latter already, my friend. After all, it is what Loki would advise me to do in your place," Thor replied with a bittersweet smile as he left the room.

As he existed, Nick didn't know whether to feel insulted or flattered by the comparison.

I am only putting this up, because the person behind the camera makes some frankly amazing comments on the quality of the movie. The thing that get's me, is that they admit to having missed most of the marvel movies that led up to the Avengers (Well there's you're poblem), which would've put a lot of their complaints too bed. Yet, they insist that the movie should've made them want to learn more about the characters and it didn't

To borrow a phrase "[Insert appropriate derogatory term] please!"

They've made five other movies that accomplished that goal. If you couldn't be bothered to go see Iron Man 1 & 2, Thor, Captai America, and Hulk then it's not the movie's fault. Also, it's established (In the movie you freaking MISSED) that Cap is just a good man turned into a hero.

If you keep talking shit about this film, I will strap you to a chair and make you watch everything, in Chronological order from Captain America to Thor and then make you watch Avengers again.

I believe in educating rather than torturing. That said my friends have already filled up all my chairs for the punishment tomorrow, and I'm not buying any more snack food.

Right so aside from being beseiged on all side by yaoi fangirls and fanfiction writers who know nothing of the universe they are inspired by, I present this... thing... for your perusal.

Now in my own shall we say, ranting review of how atrociously BAD it was by mangling the characters so within the FIRST chapter of the story, I would like to present to you all a <s>target</s> fanfic for you to <s>flame</s> critique.

<a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8469849/1/Westeros-Lost' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Westeros Lost</a>

now past the first chapter the writing is... I hesitate to say "good" but its better than decent but try as I might that horrendous first chapter still did more damage than gazing upon a picture of Cthulu while hopped up on hallucinogenics and listening to looping trance music. (to those curious, yes I have done this, I had nightmares afterwards... for a month :ph43r: )

read, <s>flame</s> review to it, please. This idiot doesn't get how bad they fucked up.

I was watching the DVD again. Anyone else notice the only time Loki looked at all sane was when he asked for the drink Stark offered after Hulk smashed him? Given the whole "cognitive recalibration" angle played with Hawkeye I'm beginning to wonder just how much of his behavior was Thanos pulling the strings in a more heavy-handed way? Especially since we know from interviews that Loki is supposed to nearly redeem himself in the eyes of Asgard and start only skirting like of good and evil again in Thor 2.

While Loki was pretty badass in The Avengers, I liked the whole "just looking for respect" thing in Thor.
