Saw it again. Anyone else get the impression something was less right with Loki than usual for most of the movie? Think about it, the guy that loathes resorting to physical violence because it's way more fun to defeat someone with words and tricks came out swinging. In a situation where Fury was actually trying to negotiate with him.
Then you have Thor's horror at wondering who could have taught Loki how to harness the Tessaract (and we know who it was if we saw the credits).
Not to mention that he swings back and forth from smooth manipulator in control of everything to crazy guy with the Joker grin like he suddenly developed MPD.
Then you have Loki laying in a crater for the better part of the battle after Hulk kicked his ass. The guy with enough power on his own to travel to any of the Nine Realms without aid or being seen by Heimdall, something more on par with Odin than with Thor, just laid there after getting tossed around physically. Now granted, you have my whole Suicide by Avengers theory which I will wrote more for soon, but what the Hell? Until he used his knives against Thor none of his actions seemed totally Loki-like. And that was after his Vader-esque "it's too late for me" moment.
Then he just stands there looking bored and seems to if not help, than at least accept Thor taking him back to Asgard.
Also, when the heck was Loki banished? He fell, or rather let go after Odin used a very poor choice of words; and even Thor admitted that the family mourned him thinking him dead. But the Chitauri clearly discussed the fact that was was banished.
All of this adds up to a greater string puller, and again, we know who it might be (although I will not yet say it for the sake of spoilage for those who have not seen the movie yet).
Of course of that's true and Loki is now in Asgard where a certain glove was clearly shown in Odin's vault...
