While Loki was pretty badass in The Avengers, I liked the whole "just looking for respect" thing in Thor.
True, but I was more talking about his attitude and appearance. He was going from fanatical to suave to psycho, looked strung out, and balanced that with moments of almost-remorse before going psycho again. Then he gets tossed around by the Hulk, the dark circles under his eyes are gone, he gives a conversational little smirk and casually asks for a drink. It was like he went for Avengers!Loki to the Loki was saw horsing around with Thor in the deleted scene from before Thor's coronation in the blink of an eye. Never mind that he was acting like that with all of the Avengers bearing down on him. If anything he seemed relieved.

That's why I had to wonder if Whedon was playing us a bit here with foreshadowing? Maybe Thanos has more control of Loki than we knew and Hulk knocked him out of it for a bit?

I thought that a bit obvious.
Particularly when he tried to justify his actions right before stabbing Thor with that small knife. There was also him glowing exactly the same way Hawkeye glowed while controlled.

Please avoid spoilers for the next month or so. I'm watching it opening night, but a month will give other people time to watch it.

Ummm... wouldn't it be simpler, for those whom have not seen it and do not want to see spoilers... to avoid threads that are obviously for the movie, as it is more likely than not they *would* contain the very spoilers you do not want to see....

That would require logic. We are TFF. Logic plays no part in our lives.

Movie is pretty good.

Gained a new appreciation of certain characters. I'm on team Hawkeye now. That man is the broest of bros. Other awesome bros: Well, that would be telling but they are obvious.

Okay with most of it except... well, I liked Norton before and I still do. Ruffalo just can't pull of the whole thing off. On the other hand, the Hulk was pretty great in one scene.

I think so.

I wouldn't pay extra to see it in 3D, but that's because my vision is shitty.

I was going to add "I'm cheap", but I paid for fancy seats when I saw it.

It was worth watching but you have to keep in mind that there was over an hour that was cut from it for the Blu-ray. Knowing that there were large amounts left out makes the movie make more sense.

Makes me wonder how much of the deleted stuff we'll actually get on the Blu-ray release. I watched the deleted scenes from GotG, and I got the impression there was a lot more than what was presented.

Watched in Imax Yesterday. James Spader was awesome as Ultron. The film on the whole was damn awesome, although there were more than a few things I did not see coming.

I think a Director's Cut would do the movie good... and the movie is already good!

Saw it a couple of hours ago. Great capstone to MCU phase 2. Would Antman count as an epilogue?

Feels like it. Antman doesn't really mesh with Phase 3 because that's about really expanding the MCU (Inhumans, Dr. Strange, Black Panther), and since this is Scott Lang, not Hank Pym, he doesn't really fit into Civil War either. Unless they're really gonna go in-depth into the Skrull mythos.

Just saw it and MoB has it right, James Spader was really good as Ultron. Although it does help that I've loved Spader from Stargate to The Office.

Also, bravo for not even a mention or sighting of Loki!! I'm rather tired of the fan-wanking of Loki in the MCU by fangirls (and fanboys). Look, I get it, Hiddleston took that role and fucking ran with it beyond anyone's wildest imagination. Also, sure, there have been weak/bland antagonists (looking at you Ironman 2 & 3...), but that doesn't mean we need Loki to constantly show up. Hell, Thor: Dark World was basically Loki and His Amazing Wit.

Oh...and that extra scene at the ending? Oh yeah, Phase 3 gon be gud. Just waiting for "Andy Dwyer meets Bobby Newport meets Sherlock Holmes" to happen

Regarding the lack of Loki: apparently, Hiddleston did shoot scenes for AoU, but they were cut from the film.

You can read Whedon's reasons here.

There's no way we're not getting an extended special edition of this movie when it's released on disk.

Uh, it has already been announced. Over an hour was cut for the theatrical release, I noted that in my initial impressions on the thread that the movie makes more sense when you keep that in mind.

That makes sense actually. There were a number of places in the movie where I felt things were rushed a bit. All the pieces were good, but the sum total struck me as though something weren't quite right. Still greatly enjoyed the film of course.
