I wonder how long until Shinji just gives up and brings in Hakari to run herd on Touji and Kensuke.?

Didn't you notice? At the end I pointed out that since this was just an idea, you don't have to go in-depth. ;)

Sure, an honest to God fusion-cross could be interesting, but I think you've got enough on your plate. This is basically a way of blowing off steam for you, so you shouldn't worry about taking it too seriously.

EDIT: And hey, you were basically asking how I'd handle the story. See why I can't write anything? I go too in-depth.

NERV has been infiltrated by Yeerks, the survivors of Second Impact. SEELE would probably be made up of voluntary controllers-All of the old men and the Yeerks want ultimate power.
Idea - Behind some of the ominous slabs are some Yeerks themselves. After all, while they can just speak through their host, the host and parasite can often have differing opinions - and if both parties of SEELE fail to work together, it may well be their undoing. And not all of the SEELE members are hosts, and not all of the Yeerk hosts are actual members of SEELE.

Perhaps the only human member who is an actual host acting in harmony with his parasite is Chairman Keel?

Ah, I dunno. But to me, SEELE has always seemed more interesting when the faces behind the faceless slabs have diversity and, more importantly, conflict with one another - not about their goals, of course, but about how to go about them. Will the unspoken racial tension split the secret society down the middle? Can Yeerks and humans work together to achieve ultimate power and transcendence?

Or will Gendo Ikari and his sluglike partner-in-crime fuck it all up?

Heh, another idea. The Yeerk inside Gendo's head? Is actually Yui. The human who played host to her was of no importance to either Gendo or his wife...

This would change his motives quite significantly, and would provide an interesting twist to the whole thing...

:huh!: Now that would be one hell of a plot twist.

Indeed. Maybe a better approach is... What if Eva was another of the Ellimist and the Crayka's games?

From the Animorphs point of view, I can see one big avenue for them in the NGE world. Namely Unit 03, 04, and the Nevada NERV base. Maybe a running fight with Bardiel that eventually culminated in them having to destroy the base? Maybe with the infection within 03 being an off-shoot of the larger Angel, which would be a pretty good justification as to why the 13th had some of the abilities that it did. Its also better than the random cloud theory. ^^;

For Shinji; if you want the Angel's to be acquirable, why not extend the power to the EVA? You'd probably have to get that Synch ratio way the hell up there for it to work, but theoretically... You could probably hand-wave some sort of effect, partial or full, into existence.

Hell, eating an S2 organ got the EVA its own, sounds like acquiring to me... =3 Though maybe the EVA version is more of a "Oh, I'd like some of that, and that, and that..." Kind of a bio-mechanical evolution by taking Angel DNA into itself.

Its unlikely that I'll write something for this one, but I have a Timeloop Chronicles post on the board for later on tonight.

Goddamn the nostalgia is so thick here it's actually making me want to re-read the series. Luckily I have them all on e-book.

I look forward to seeing it.

All a lot of good ideas... Now, how to put them together into a coherent whole, hmmm...

I'm still stuck on the little details... Like Shinji's battlemorph being a genetically engineered "dinosaur" that was another survivor of the same genetic modification PenPen went through. Where PenPen came out smarter and with opposable thumbs, this guy would basically be a Pen Rex-Think Metal Gear RAY as a large amphibious dinosaur.

And mostly other little things, like Tobias advising Shinji on how to handle Misato... ;)

How heavily-infiltrated are we talking here? Just the few top people (Gendo, Fuyutsuki, Ritsuko--probably not Misato, as she was a new arrival there just like Shinji), or is it entirely Controllers? Because that would very much affect Shinji's interaction with them, assuming he somehow finds out.

NERV is controller free but is supposed to be under Yeerk control through SEELE:YES/NO

The Yeerks just don't have enough warm bodies left for a large controller presence at this point and are relegated to single operatives with massive political clot that they had only just attained before and in the immediate wake of 2nd impact.

That being said there are still numerous off world resources that they could have sent to bare against our hero's.

Gendo and Ritsuko for sure. Probably not Fuyutsuki, though it could be interesting if he was a Visser observing NERV's actions secretly.

Misato...no. While a Yeerk could well do her job, Misato is too new at NERV to be taken. She should be a later victim though, one of the first successes Shinji has.

Best of all would be if none of the Yeerks realize that Misato has broken free. Perhaps our friends CASPAR MELCHIOR and BALTHASAR have caught on to what's wrong with NERV and are helping out...

Yes. Gendo as a Controller... I'd prefer he be himself, and working with the Yeerks, showing the ruthlessness of humans. Ritsuko wouldn't need to be a Controller-Gendo could control her just as he did in canon. Fuyutsuki secretly a Controller and observing Gendo's actions, that has potential.

I do like Misato breaking free with Shinji's help. And our three MAGI could help out.

First mission would be Kensuke tracking down where the Andalite fighter may have been taken. Shinji decides to check it out with Touji and Kensuke. Mari follows, disobeying her friends. This happens after the battle with the Fourth Angel, which coincides nicely with Shinji running away for a while after being chewed out by Misato.

At the same time, the Animorphs go in to see what they can find out about the missing Andalite fighter.

Ultimate story arc, I'd like The One to be a major villain. His assimilation of all living beings into himself fits rather well with Instrumentality. He doesn't originate the idea but it is certainly something he'd want.

Controller magi? They are mostly just cyborg-ed Grey mater after all

The rest of Nerv are either in the dark or are just bastards

Kind of hard to get out of the MAGI in order to get a dose of Kadrona Rays every three days.

They are massive black box installations that are above reproach.

The lady who made them was also (Insert Colorful Metaphor Here) insane genius who then conveniently committed suicide.

Who knows what might be stuffed under the bridge tower?

Nah, no point. I doubt it would occur to anyone that the MAGI would make good controllers. Plus, there's a good chance that, even though the MAGI have "brains" they aren't the kind that the Yeerks could control. No body, different input, etc.

Dr Akagi was the Controller in Project E she was working the Magi before the Yreek that took her over.

While working for the project the Yeerk conceived of a method by which it could survive inside the new magi indefinably. After it lost contact with the home office it set the good doctor up to apparently suicide so it could hide until it could reach help it.

Gendo knows there is a controller on staff he just doesn't know who.

The "brains" inside the MAGI aren't hooked up to anything. I really doubt that any Yeerk would be able to mimic the MAGI's computational ability, or be able to handle the strain.

Besides, think about what Eric did to the stupid one that tried to take him.

A Yreek controller wouldn't have to be the Magi it couldn't not really. In my mind a controller would be more like it a mail room clerk with a personal agenda, shunting commands and editing responses while the Magi does all the real work.

"Alright, Shinji, just focus on walking."

The Eva stumbled, taking the first hesitant step.

The Angel lashed out.

I I I

The Eva roared, leaping forward to smash the Angel again. If Shinji hadn't already experienced the overwhelming instincts of certain animals, how to ride them without fighting them, he would have been submerged in the Eva's mind.

As it was, he was dragged along like a log in a river.

Such strong instincts, Shinji thought. It's... alive?

The Eva ripped off the armor covering the angel's core.

Like a voice above water, Misato's voice. "Shinji! If you can hear me... it's going to self-destruct! Get out of there!"

Uh-oh.

But if the Eva was alive... he needed to take control.

Shinji, thinking about him, the not-Eva, reached out and down, touching the stuff of the Eva below his armored chair.

The Eva stilled, calmed, as he Acquired it.

That instant gave him the chance to sieze control, and force the Eva, stumbling, back. Then the Angel detonated.

I I I

Shinji, laying on his back, long shadows cast by the setting sun, stared up at his hand.

He could... feel it, he knew it was there. The pattern of the Eva.

I I I

AN: Nevermind the Angels, the Eva were also biological, right? The "real" purpose of NERV... is to create an even greater morph-weapon than the Howler.

Thank you daniel_gudman that was a nice snippet

I like the idea that Eva was developed with a wider use in mind.

Nice bit, gudman. Makes me wonder how long it takes for him to try morphing it. Kensuke would be all for it, Touji would be far more hesitant. And Shinji? Well, obviously he can't do it at home...

Nope, they don't, they only came up with one for Jake, for plot purpose's, none of the rest of the group have last names.

Unless we make them up.
Due to the fact I'm a huge fan of "One Least Likely", a really good Animorphs fic, I use these names for them:

Jake Berenson
Rachel Berenson
Marco McCabe
Cassie Verenda
David Hunting

Tobias' last name probably isn't "Fangor" since his mother doesn't remember Elfangor, so... Got me for me.
Having looked up that fanfic and read it (all in one night, because once I start reading something I get hooked on I CAN'T STOP and for Christ's sake I need to learn to not start >100 kiloword fanfics at 3 AM), I can now see where you got your inspiration for David being an independent operator who wanders around the world with a super-advanced spaceship. :p
