The World God Only Knows Discussion Thread

I did not see any of this coming, but in a twist I only feel smiles reading the last few chapters. Been a hell of a ride and here's to a final ending that can be deemed satisfactory.

So, Elsie remembers the original timeline, but Haqua and Nora don't? Wonder what else changed without Keima knowing it?

Holy hell.

I had an inkling that things might go this way since the ending of the anime (it was suspicious how much focus was given during that last arc) but I did not expect THAT.

That said, I think it is a fake out though.
Considering that the next chapter is the stated to be the last chapter, I don't see this as being likely. This might tie into why Keima took off his disguise right in front of her after tagging Ayumi, like The Doctor purposely being weird with his tie in front of Martha at the beginning of Smith and Jones before she ever met him in the hospital.

I thought she just extracted herself from their memories and infused herself into Keima's family as his twin sister.

Honestly, I don't really care how things end because Eri got her happy end.

When a god-like entity goes to the lengths to go from a non-blood related sister to a real TWIN sister and hits the BMW quota, that is enough to hit my WAFF center. Loved to see Eri get what she wanted in the end.

Could it possible be, a popular Manga with multiple love interest gets a proper ending and a definite parring?

I actually like that Chihiro seems to be winning. She's the only one without any supernatural stuff going on, and yeah, shes fallen in lov with Keima twice now.

Shes also the only girl he's ever actually shown regret about for leading her on. It's been obvious for some time that shes the one he really likes.

Also, this endgame thing with Elise...where was the foreshadowing for it? I mean, she seems to have gotten all superpowered in the 11th hour, with no setup, unless I just forgot it.

Only "foreshadowing" we got was that dinner Elsie and Keima had in the last episode.

I give points to the fact that she seems to have been the ONLY one who fell for him without any action on his part. Even Tenri - she was involved in one of his more complicated schemes from way back when. But for Chiriro? That girl fell in love with Kiema for who he was - a gal gaming freak.

The pairing ... is fitting.

You guys are pulling the cart before the horse.

The show doesn't end until the fat lady sings. Eri says that he needs to finish the game could have a whole bunch of implications. I give it 70-30 that this is actually part of some plan versus an actual confession. 50-50 that in the case that it is an actual confession that is is more of a closure confession as an apology rather than a get together one.

If it does go into a full happy love-love end, I will be surprised and impressed.

...the girls aren't in love with Keima, but in love with the image Keima cold-bloodedly calculated would score the most affection points. For every single "conquest", rather than building a relationship between two people, Keima was using "I love you" to dig up and solve her problem.

Except Chihiro. She was in love with another guy, so Keima just got roped into that, not bothering to hide anything, because he didn't need to worry that he would contradict "the calculated image". Without him intending anything, she realized he had his cool moments.

Of all the girls, after finding out about this whole mess with the goddesses, and the escaped spirits, I think Chihiro's the only one that will have her image of Keima reinforced instead of distorted.
This is my prediction:

I'm in the same boat with Shiki re: "will this actually turn into a relationship", I dunno whether it will happen or not. Probably my best guess is something kinda bittersweet, like "it could have worked out, if weird event flags hadn't piled up between us."

But, I'm confident that this next chapter will be Keima needing to talk through what just happened, and Chihiro is the only one that would understand what he was saying.

Well...I'm unsatisfied.

Yeah, I'm a little unsatisfied too. But I'm glad it didn't end up like Bleach.

You mean that after a major battle that actually made it feel like it was the end, the author actually ended it so that it wouldn't drag for too long since its possible he/she didn't have another arc planned and wanted to end it with a big finish.

Also that it showed relationship development between the cast?

I'm good with how it all ended. Chihiro is the only one who can continually turn his world upside down, so there will always be a challenge, and always be some new flag to chase after. What more could a romcom gamer ever want?

Sad about the way it ended with Dokuro and Tenri.

'sigh' Such is the way a harem series ends when it has a proper ending..... and isn't involved with Tenchi.

So disappointing...
Well, that's probably because he had to end it in a rush -I blame the timetravel arc- but still, BEST GIRL WINS! YEAAAAAH!
Heh. I honestly enjoyed the ending, while yes, it IS sad that we didn't go the full harem route, I am glad to see that Chihiro won in the end and got her happy ending.

I had become her fan ever since the Awaken the Goddess arc and was wondering just how we could make her just a little bit more happys.

This though is the best ending that I can hope for =w=

The harshest thing was Tenri, who carried a note for almost a decade reminding her that she's not going to have a future with Keima. I didn't support her as a love interest, but GODDAMN!

Yea. Seriously. The people from the past who helped Keima in the present had it rough.

I mean, Tenri waited ten years to help Keima finish his game. All the while holding a constant reminder that no. She wasn't going to get her happy ending despite her wish for the contrary. That's Terrible.

I wasn't "satisfied" with the ending - there were still too many plot points (Elsie's sister, the present Dokurou, etc) still left unresolved, but I am glad that it didn't drag so long. It felt a bit like the 'How I Met Your Mother' series ending (Just, you know - not as BAD), but okay, we're trying to get at least some closure.

Sister established contact with Dokurou right after the release of the spirits or thereabouts, Elsie herself mentioned that Akari was a sister to plenty other orphaned girls in the hell orphanages, so it is quite possible that at that time in the past she didn't know her personally, or at all.

In a way, it was a satisfying ending, what with an actual romantic development, while on the other side it leaves so many things possible afterwards, after all, life can be full of surprises.
