Upcoming movie

Lord Raa

Exporter of Juice Tins
Yes. Though, there was some joking that they were going to wait 30 years and use the same cast a la Boyhood.

IT is getting a sequel? Why? Did they two-part the thing?
The story (book-wise) is told in two main parts: 1958 & 1985 (with a lot of flashbacks).

Will someone explain to me why, in the trailers for Thor: Ragnarok, we see Skurge acting as a henchman for Hela but Amora isn't anywhere in sight? I'm hoping they're keeping her reveal quiet, but I'm suddenly not as confident in this one. I mean, I already gave up on them having the guts to make her Loki's daughter the way she should have been, but Skurge working for her? Really?

Yeah, I'm familiar with the book. Tis why I asked.
Then you should already know the answer. The books freaking 1138 pages, fer god's sake. Even leaving out the interludes, and parts of the main story that wouldn't fit/make sense (the smokehouse, for example), IT is just too damn long to fit in one movie.

Yeah, forgive me for not having an ounce of faith in anything adapted from Stephen King. They have a history of butchering anything he's written. So it would not have surprised me in the least if they'd condensed the entire book into a singular movie.

IT has a natural break in it to separate it into two parts.

It makes sense that it is split into two movies.

Again, I'm aware that it makes sense to split it like that. I'm just saying that I wouldn't have been surprised if they didn't.

I just finished seeing Blade Runner 2049. I won't give anything away but I will say that as I walked out of the theater, smile on my face, I thought "You've done a man's job, Sir" to both the Caste and Crew and the main character.

Kylo, if you pull that tigger, even if Leia survives the attack, you won't need to worry about Rey...cause *I* will find a way to end you.

Interesting take on New Mutants.

I don't expect any mutant deaths in the movie though, so the horror angle is kind of an odd fit, but not that odd as NM is often more mystical in nature than most other X-books.

Still, I don't expect this to be a slasher type of movie either. Body count will probably be pretty much non-existent.

Not unless there are other cast members that haven't been announced yet in no-name fodder roles. Everyone in the currently announced cast is a prominent mutant in the New Mutants comics and will probably survive.

Dr. Reyes isn't evil, so she's probably not the villain even though the trailer seems to imply it.

There are two mutants in the movie who could cause the sorts of things we see in the trailer, Mirage and Magik.

Though the real villain is probably Rev. Craig, who may have a role similar to Belasco and is somehow manipulating events to try and kill his daughter and the other mutants. I expect if he dies here, Wolfsbane will be the one to off him.

Could be the Demon Bear thing too, but I think that might be a bit too weird for general audiences, so I kind of doubt it. There will probably be a nod to that somewhere in this, but I don't think they'll really go farther than that.

I do wonder if this will tie to the current X-men timeline or not. There's some speculation that it won't. Though, we've seen Colossus in Deadpool, so there may be a tie in to the rest of the franchise in as Magik is his sister.

There's also the upcoming Dark Pheonix film, which reportedly may also be it's own separate thing from the established X-films.

I'm guessing they'll probably keep it nebulous and tie it in retroactively if it does well.

If they do, it could easily be post a post Logan story as well. Which would fit the title. Might get an X-23 post credits cameo at the end or something along those lines after they escape whatever is going on here.

According to what I've read on the internet, it is indeed the Demon Bear that's the villain, which is fairly fitting for a Horror Film. It's a bit out there, but the Demon Bear always was a bit of a psychological horror when it wanted to be wasn't it?

That's interesting. Seems kind of out there for a comic book movie based in the X-universe, which has avoided that sort of thing up until now.

It does make sense for New Mutants to be the team to go there with it though, as it has historically been more mystical in nature than the other X-books.

This means Mirage is probably the primary protagonist in the movie.

Still don't expect anyone to actually die, except maybe the Rev. As I said, Wolfsbane will probably off him if that is the case. They'll probably tie him to the Demon Bear somehow.

According to an interview with IGN, the director pitched the film as a trilogy of horror films.
