I've been watching three different anime that have
really caught my attention.
The first is called "
Utawarerumono," and is based off an H-game. One of the things that keeps me interested in this anime is the main character's personality. Normally, the main hero is very... hotheaded, and/or somewhat apathetic and anti-social (angsty, emo, or whatever you wanna call it), Hakuoro is... stoic. He is the perfect image of a reasonable, responsible adult. Granted, he gets his bouts of angst with him being afflicted with amnesia, but those don't really last long. Other then that, the whole... epic feel I get from the opening animation interests me, as it makes the world seem vast. It helps that the world is occupied by wolf/dog/cat-people, and apparently some bird-people too. Neko-mimi and all that. ^_^ Anyway, this is most certainly one I'm itching to watch more of, it's only a pity that the fansub seems to be quite slow with this one (I checked after I watched the third subbed episode and noticed that the fourth was already out in RAW. Slow, considering the third had
just been translated).
The second is called "
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu." Right off the bat, this anime is original by actually playing the episodes out of order! The first episode is probably somewhere in the middle of the series, and the second is actually the first episode of the anime. The third is the second episode, the fourth is the seventh, and apparently the fifth is going to be the third. Nevertheless, while it does get somewhat confusing to watch, the pure hilarity and amusement keep this from giving you a headache. The quality of the animation is fricking AMAZING. Seriously, the detail that goes into some of these scenes is awe-inspiring. To make an example, during the first (aired) episode they had a short (maybe... five second) scene of one of the girl's panties. Thing is, the first episode was a sort of 'home movie' style of humor, so the girl actually
knew the camera was there. So, while it only gives you less then a second to see it, she blushes before jumping over the camera.
However, there
is a certain mood that is required to watch it. The first time looking at it, I almost dropped it because the first episode's style of humor somewhat annoyed me at the time. However, after coming back and viewing it later when I was in a more relaxed mood, the humor had me laughing out loud throughout the episode. Needless to say, IÆm with the countless others when I say this anime wins!
The third is one called "
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni." I find the mood of it to be very similar to Elfen Lied, in the way that you
know things are going to get bloody. The general feel of it is very lighthearted, and it hasn't shown much gore (even at the beginning, which features people being pasted into the floor with a bat), you get a huge amount of paranoia from just a few darkened scenes throughout the WAFFness. Coupled with it going to be 26 episodes long, I'm
definitely looking forward to watching more of this.
