I doubt it. Goku CAN go SSJ4, and he does exceed Gohan in power at that point. The vid mentioned it ultimately didn't matter.
Also, that sword snapped like a twig the moment it was seriously put to the test, and Supreme Kai even mentions it wasn't magic at all, but just some old sword he was locked up in, and didn't really matter. It was just overhyped by Kaioshin.
And for those who wonder how I can tell what the vid said... transcript a friend patiently wrote down for me, as a favor. I owe him one for that...

During the Buu crisis after getting his butt handed to him to the point of near death Gohan ended up on the supreme kais planet and after a couple other events i won't go into he released the supreme kais ancestor from a sword. said the old S.K. ended up performing a ritual on Gohan that increased his power to a point that was even greater then super saiyan 3 (and without needing to go super saiyan) Gohan then proceeds to pick buu apart for the majority of the fight shown <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXy6b-7Ly38' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>here</a> ) in the end i guess it depends on if old kais ritual add a mystical edge to gohans attacks (otherwise it would likely end the same way as it did for goku)

And, frankly, while I've enjoyed many of the other Death Battle videos (especially the one with Batman vs. Spiderman,) I was unimpressed with this one.
Goku hasn't used the Power Pole in years, and the calculations for his stats were extremely conservative, and many of Superman's were calculated using feats from alternate continuities like "All Star Superman," who is considerably more powerful than modern-age main continuity Supes.

Not really. If it's been established that it's a fused DC and DBZ universe, then all they need to do is get word to King Kai, who should be able to get the Namekians to use their Dragon Balls to restore Earth, then wish back Piccolo/Kami and/or Dende (depending on when it took place), then use the Earth Dragon Balls to restore everyone to life.

Not that it would help because DB uses Marvel's 'Changing the Past just creates an alternate timeline' theory of time travel.
Unless you're Doom who gets around that stuff because he is just that smart.

Really? I thought that was just Earth's Dragon Balls. Then again, I couldn't stomach GT enough to finish it. Hell, I barely stayed on to finish the Buu Saga of Z.
Oh well. Either way, I honestly can't argue. The Solar regeneration alone made it a losing battle on Goku's side the instant he lost his power pole. That magic damage was about the only thing, aside from Kryptonite, that would've given him a solid enough chance against Supes, but Goku didn't know that. But once Superman started regenerating with the sun.... it was pretty much a done deal.

Being as fair as one can be to GT, the ideas behind it were good (like SSJ4 requiring you to control the Monkey form and having a tail. That was kind of clever).
The execution was horrible though.
Well, that and the whole 'using the dragon ball too many times leads to catastrophe' is a betrayal to everything the dragon balls stood for and replacing it for another boring, cliche 'careful with what you wish for' message.

Let's face it in most media NO ONE PAYS ATTENTION TO THE OLD PERSON WARNING THEM UNTIL IT IS TO LATE!

Don't forget the reverse. You know when in movies a kid says something like "Mom, dad there's a dinosaur or a ghost or whatever in my room." and the parent(s) are all like "Yeah right, junior. Go back to bed."
